  • SPAM !!!

  • Impeccable green screening, by lackluster cheap typography.

I like the concept though. I'd polish the title cards before it went in a portfolio.

Try the titles on White using their Catull typeface. That's more in line with Google's branding.

    Cheers

  • wowwwww Superb!

  • put together very well...

    5* to you!

  • U r a master ... u did erase Eric Idle Pal, Nice commercial 5/5

  • @terroristamextremist thanks for the comment :) Yeah it was quite a bit of work, courtesy of Matt Beightol.

  • Odd that none of the comments yet connected the dots and pointed out that the original sketch is what inspired the term spam for email. I doubt its common knowledge these days. Can remember first seeing in on BBS's in the last 80s but most us computer nerds loved to quote Monty Python at each other.

  • @cosmofur Indeed. Indeed. Been there, done that :) I remember when an Amiga group released the entire Bicycle Repair Man sketch on the A1200, what an amazing feat.

  • excellent. would like to see u do the whole skit.

  • @flibideegibbit Thanks, but it took about 6 months to do what we did, and we chose the bits we wanted to have in there quite carefully as well..

  • that was amazing

  • @Drumsinstopmotion Muchos gracias senor. Glad you liked it!

  • that was pretty clever. i quite liked it

  • Wow, very well done!

  • I hope no one spams the comments! =D

  • Didn't quite get the lighting on the replacement character right, but close enough.

  • I left the academy when I realized I have no screenwriting promise. Very good job! I love python <3

  • They ? Google didnt make this, we did. Just for fun, and a tribute to Monty Python (and besides, I like GMail, so what.) Was never meant to offend anyone at least.

  • How did you completely block out Eric Idle??

  • Eric Idle is painted out in the parts that our actor didnt cover him completely up. For instance, the menu sign in the background has been cloned to go over his head. We then had to match the camera movement so that it would look proper. Digital paint did the trick together with simple 2D tracking.

  • you did a pretty good job with it, save a very very tiny lighting issue (looks like it might be a pain to get perfect, but its slight enough for you to get away with it).

im saving this stuff, fantastic job, very funny :)

  • they totaaly jacked up the best monty python scetch. i look down shamefully on them, and you for posting this bag of fuck.

  • Your Video was on tv =)

  • when was it on tv?!!

  • That was awesome! 100% respect for anyone who had any part of this. An excellent idea that came out very well.

Good one for using Trebuchet (the font) as well!

Monty Python, Gmail & Trebuchet are three of my favourite things in life. :D

  • God jobe with the lighting, that's really hard to pull of correctly and it can make or break a composite. The only problem I found was the angle of the last shot. The green screened actor didn't seem to be positioned right with the original scene. Either way, good job - better than anything I've ever tried.

  • This is awesome. Spam is one of my favorite Monty Python skits, and of course gmail is the best! Great job with the video and character replacement too.

  • gmail actually does have alot of spam

O=) I've never had any problems with Yahoo Mail

  • LMAO! SPam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam

  • "Shut up! SHUT UP!!! Bloody Vikings!" LOL

The power of computers to alter reality is making the old saying "The camera doesn't lie" obsolete.

  • The camera still doesn't lie. Pcs do ;)

  • nice job with the video... great idea too.

  • haha, what a great idea!

  • That's really brilliant!

  • awesome, awesome, awesome ... bacon, eggs & awesome!

  • so funny! i love it

  • Awesome keying. Reminds me of the Spike Jones's video, Buddy Holly by Weezer. Yours is the same quality as Spike's.

  • nice job, it´s very difficult to note that they are replaced. take care!
