I would generally agree, but we don't need to go comparing today's singers to the best standards singer of all time. Using this as a standard of comparison, Celine Dion, Maddona, and Whitney Houston are equally horrific. Carrie is good, just not on the level of Garland. I saw "Meet me in St. Louis." That's why her voice is so scratchy and forced on the "high notes" these days. Carrie actually sings below her full capability, unlike Christina who sings way outside of her range to "impress" people, but winds up straining her voice instead. Carrie's natural ability by far exceeds Christina's. You can say you like Christina's TONE and singing style better.

@Maryland765 I'm a Christina fan too, but come the hell on. Carrie effortlessly sings and sustains the very same notes that Christina basically chokes on and needs to SCREAM in order to reach. For Xtina, the high "E" is a "high-range" note, which she always leaves for the climax of her songs and usually winds up having to scream. Carrie will sing that same note in a song's CHORUS, making it seem like no big deal. It seems higher when Christina does it because SO much more effort is involved.
