Only bad thing about screwing an Apex onto the barrel is when the tip gets tight enough the Apex with just start to spin on the adapter and you won't be able to get it really snug. So if you do put an Apex tip on the barrel put the adapter on first so you can get it snug then put the Apex on.

Also the TPX uses A5 threads, but not all barrels are skinny enough to fit into the front of the TPX
