My good friend, an RNZAF Squadron Leader now late, said of Polish pilots "'They were simply the best fighter pilots of the war."

They fought gallantly, skilfully and with great bravery. While flying the Hawker Hurricane, though technically inferior to the Bf 109E4, Polish pilots still managed to get the better of them and inflicted significant losses and damage.

Flying the Spitfire Mk 1 and 2, the Poles were simply devastating. The Nazi had no answer whatsoever.

Great men - great fighters!

once again wojtek, thanks for this. brave polish pilots. without them i think the outcome of the battle of britain would have been totally different. hugh dowding certainly thought so!!
