Yes, If I remember correctly, CyberConnect is coming up with a game engine to make an MMORPG much like the .hack//G.U. games. Most likely, if the game is for PC, the graphics will be equal ot that of the PS2 games. If on the PS3, the graphics will be much more astounding.

some time later "The World" came out after the "Fragment" beta ended. They might be following the story and timeline of the game and anime. If so they might be making a game titled just "The World" and releasing it in the future. That would be awesome. The fictional timeline places the release of "The world" between 2007-2008....strange? I just hope it really happens xD

Ok...This game died already. It won't be coming to the U.S. because the servers over in Japan were shut down for good. Although i haven't seen anything about them planning to remake the game for a new version of .hack that is playable online there are a few things that might hint to the possibility. For instance, in the game/anime/manga there is a timeline...VERY close to ours. The first beta of "The World" was named "Fragment" and was released around this time. (Strange huh?)

So... It seems that it will be based on "The World" version 1. That is a little disappointing. Version 2 would have been better, with the quests, guilds, and better character classes. But, that's just my opinion.

do you mean play the Japanese version on your Ps2? If that's what you mean then you need a mode chip to be able to play the Japanese version on your english Ps2. Also Bandai is not releasing an english version of the game to the U.S., so the Japanese version is the only one out there.

Fragment is SHIT, Fragment is seriously the worst game EVER people seriously.

- In this game Only ONE party can go into a field, Yes ONE PARTY, No one else.

- Even if you're joined in a party, theres NO ONE in the root town, each player is divided seperately even if in a party, The Root towns are wastelands.

- Character Customization Is Crap, Enough Said.

- Gameplay is the same as the old one, NOTHING NEW IS ADDED.

.hack//Fragment is a version of "the world" online, but not similar to the version portrayed in .hack//sign or the games. You will be able to go online and make your own character, but you have to form a party with other people BEFORE you go to a dungeon. There will also be an offline version with a storyline. Dunno all the details yet, but i'm really looking foreward to it!

.Hack: Fragment comes before every .Hack media so far! Fragment is the Test Version of The World and because they're making .Hack//GU (Grow-Up) It makes sense that they would also create a game about the past. It isn't just key-words anymore though! We're going to have to use letters and create 16-character-long area codes (Not entirely sure about size).

I bet the game will have a negative ending, as will .Hack//GU. If the virus was destroyed their would be no .Hack//Sign, .Hack, .Hack//GU, or .Hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet(.Hack//Dusk), so their mission already seems hopeless in Fragment. Plus, Haseo in GU is the virus, so I bet he'll die in the last installment.
