  • It's even cheaper to make your own bar soap(lye/veg.fat) and adding 1/2 cup baking soda to the other two ingredients which are water conditioners & softners They help your soap do a better job. Most people have hard water. This soap is low sudsing anyway, I have a front loader and it's fine.

  • Thanks for the video I can't wait to make that recipe. Do you think it will work on high efficiency washing machines? Might have to test it out with less detergent per wash.

  • @x0x0melissa0x0x

that looks similar to my recipe and yes i use it in an HE machine. i just use less

  • I cut vegetable based soap bars down really small, almost into shavings and it works fine without the borax or baking soda. 1/2 a bar of soap can do a full load. I'm sure there's a reason i shud add the borax and baking soda but I've been doing without for a while now, and it works fine. I'm using a vegetable based glycerin soap. It leaves no soap stains on clothes, washes clean and leaves clothes very soft.

  • @uniqueedgings Adding the borax and soda will save you much more money than just using the soap alone. They are good cleaning agents too. :-) I use bar soap in a pinch, but I much prefer the homemade detergent.
