  • the movement is her trying to swallow the food she has in her gullet, in later life they learn to move their heads from side to side to try and force the food down

    luverly

  • Ah, thanks. :)

  • Someone who used to live there may have fed the gull...

Too bad it's not working out :(

  • It's possible, thoguh a few people have said shes very young. I'm no expert myself.

Thanks. It's a pain but hopefully we've found somewhere much better now.

  • She is young (how are you sure that the bird is a female?)

Juvenile gulls are typically grey, and they turn white as they reach maturity. This one still has some grey feathers...

    Moving is always a pain...

  • I'll show you in another video. Different characters.

I'm so weary of moving. I can't believe I have to do it again.

  • Sweet bird! (Though I know sea gulls are actually not that sweet...I have seen them rip sandwhiches right of a person's hand at the beach) I used to know a George Sea gull...actually

    from my imagination...

  • hey limeslimey! are you sure you don,t

    mean Steven Sea-gull?

  • :) No, not all that sweet, but full of character. It's not impossible Cynthia is looking for George. I hope she finds him.

  • The name "Cynthia" just cannot escape my mind, no matter what lately. A very important person to me named Cynthia, left my life a few years ago, and I've been hurt from it ever since, yet particularly lately, it's been bothersome in my mind. Then, I see this video on my youtube homepage. Thank goodness the vdeo is about seagulls, rather than the video being about Cynthia dating some guy named Wergrill. Anyways, very nice video, Loreleila.

  • Thats unfortunate. I wish for you someone who will not hurt, but care for you. Glad you like the video. :)

  • Quite a young seagull sitting on your ledge, so maybe not quite so wary of people yet.

I also used to live in an apartment, did a fair bit of fishing in those days, and used to share the heads and tails with a seagull that just happened to show up one day.

My kids and i named him Johnathon and he continued coming by the window daily for a couple years, unfortunately, after we moved, he was quite the pain in the ass (according to our old landlord) apparently he got cranky when hungry.

    Cheers

  • LOL

  • :) That troubles me slightly. I want to get to know her, but if I'm not going to be here she may get distressed and become a nuisance, which would be unfair on all concerned, including her.

  • I understand how it might trouble.

But isn't it better to supply some help and kindness than none at all ?

She/he may stress a little when the food stops but will surely find another source, seagulls are very resourceful.

And I've always been a little suspect of people who get upset with animals for doing what animals do.

It can be a great way to judge the character of people (how they treat animals).

    Cheers

  • Good points taken with thanks. :)

  • ...At least " someone is welcoming you "... So you found yourself a stranger in a strange land eh.... That is sadly one of the hazards of moving... the neighbors many times just suck... Maybe they think your a witch.. ha ha... THank god its not a crow coming to your ledge :O... They would burn you at the stake!!! Just some light hearted kidding here... :) ... Wouldnt be grand if the bird turned up at your next abode...

  • lol Oddly, if I were a witch I would be as invisible. They're very accepting of weirdness here, but not very interested in being friendly to anyone new. I want to be somewhere there are no neighbours, but I'm going to have to wait a while for that.

  • They were trying to watch Youtube

  • lol!

  • I hope Cynthia dosen't become a payne, a real madam............%¬)

  • Indeed. I want no houses of ill repute on my ledge thank you. lol

  • that there is an immature gull perhaps

    it see,s it,s reflection?

  • No, she was responding to what I was doing.

  • well maybe...it could be someone who knows you

  • What are you implying my good man? :P

  • Seagulls, meow *purrpurr* * Serge licks its chops. Rheinmaiden, how are you diong?

  • Don't you eat my Cynthia. :P I'm a little fraught dear Serge, but I'll get there. How are you?

  • I am well, despite the air of depression around me, it seems not to be bothering me, but it seems to effect everyone else around me..Pluto is up to something. * Serge snuggles Rhinemaiden <3

  • well my comments have vanished ,but no matter i shall soldier on regardless....you

see i like the belief held by certain african

tribes that creatures are vessels containers if you will for spirits therefore

we,ve no idea where we,ll end up next

    and maybe sometimes memories persist

beyond the cusp so the seagull could be

thinking"oh that,s cathy in there she still

owes me for that hand of poker she lost

but i,ve got to be careful cuz she might not

recognise me now i,m a seagull" & so on

  • Ah I see...

    There are connections everywhere

    One way or another

Perhaps one time I was the seagull

    And she the human

    And I am returning her

    Kindness to me

But as part of the pattern of evenything

We all know one another anyway

    Even you and me ;)

  • did i ever tell you about my maternal great

    grandmother?

  • Not as far as I recollect. Why?

  • did i not? i,m thought i did...

  • It's not impossible I'm going senile and have forgotten. Do indulge me and repeat yourself.

  • i reckon i,m going senile "i,m thought i did" that don,t make sense ;) anyway what tangent had i gone off on? oh yeah

insular communities you see my maternal

great granny was an eastern european gypsy she married an italian chap and they came to the uk to avoid persecution

in his home country...obviously i,ve strayed away from the seagull a tad but

if you make a video of her further antics we can get back on track.....you did seagulls i did crows it,s all connected

    somehow.......

  • Definitely connected. :)

  • i'll never forget the time skeeter's chick took their first flight down to my window ledge and ate right out of my mind, whilst his daddy stood there and watched. amazing.

  • mind/hand, lol. analyse that.

  • Your psyches showing there. lol Beautiful slip. :)

  • :-)

  • She is very sweet. I have a cockatiel named Cynthia. He has since turned out to be a boy but nonetheless his name remains.

  • lol I'm sure he doesn't mind. :)
