"Die schwarze Milch der Frühe". Ich hatte sie fast vergessen, nicht vergessen hab ich, dass mein Deutschlehrer offenbar nicht wusste, was es bedeutet und er ließ uns mit der schwammigen bedeutung "Nebel bei Nachthimmel" zurück D:
The Doctor Who fun fact was dynamite. Also the b in thumb is silent... for some reason, I have no idea why, we spell it with the b in there, but do not pronounce it. It's almost as if they wrote thum, then thought the word wasn't long enough and tacked on a b. Or a long long time ago, someone cheated at Scrabble and it stuck.
@RebbelReb No idea, really. Never read Shakespeare in German. A lot less magical than the original, I imagine. But maybe that's just because I would be able to understand all of the words. ;)
This is a bit off topic but I think you look quite a lot like Donna Noble from Doctor Who. Also I'm in love with your videos, it's my aspiration to be an English teacher someday so I'm eager to see what other informative videos you put out! =D
Yay, I'm so happy that you quoted As you like it... and Macbeth.
My school did a condensed version of Macbeth for our fall play. (I was Witch#3 :D)
AAAND... My chorus is performing "Blow Blow, Thou Winter Wind" from Shakespeare's As you like it. We get to do the 7 ages of man as an introduction. (I'm doing age 6)
Anyway, I am really glad Hank sent nerdfighteria to your channel... even though the video sent it with was a sad one.
We have many words that are redundant in and of their existence, however I feel that their existence and the intricacies of language are what makes it beautiful, if less comprehensive. My opinion on the deletion of words is derived from George Orwell's 1984, which most American/English scholars are well-familiar with, though I'm not sure how common it is in Germany.
These videos are amazing! I always forget teachers are people too and feel bad for it (Think back to that episode of doctor who in the school), I hope all mine are as secretly cool as you :P
Oh gosh, you're the first english teacher that has ever made me laugh and learn at the same time :D I might be able to learn some interesting things about the english language before I learn them at school now :D
plus, your english is incredible. you've got to consider that english is not my first language when I say that, but still... congratulations! I just loved your accent - that doesn't sound at all german to my unprofessional ears -, and at the same time sounds slightly strange - when compared to what I'm used to - in a way (in a lovely way).
I've got to say, you seem to be one of the coolest person I've ever seen. I myself have been thinking a lot about studying languages (I'm 15, by the way), which would probably make me end up being a teacher. however, I was about to give up before I watched one of your videos. I've never had a language teacher that seemed to be as fascinated about the whole thing as I am. but then you suddenly showed up, and, for a second, I thought I really knew what I wanted to be. thank you so much!
I just got that your name is a play on sally sparrow from doctor who XD I love the ripped wallpaper in your room by the way - it's brilliant! You're videos are really interesting and fun - you're going to go soo far on youtube! XD
Sorry aber die ersten 7 Sekunden sind das niedlichste was ich gesehen habe... :-x

heartbroken = "I feel so sad if physicaly hurts (in the middle of my body)"
Aaaaand now we know why we say "heartbroken" instead of this long-winded mess.
hmmmm.
Teachers are like metaphors because they use words we know to lead us to the understanding of things we previously had no words for.
This is a simily.
