Oh I can't wait to get my Budo video, this video clip is much better quality on the video. oh i can't wait, will tell you when it arrives at my house.
Isn´t another part of the seppuku-ceremony the tea cup that will be emptied before committing the seppuku? Thought that would be an important detail (at least it impressed me because it´s such a big contrast to the brutal ceremony itself) ...
Wow, this demonstration is execllent for people just getting into studying seppuku. I think the slow and casual way of doing it is good, the actors did really well.
I really wish I knew the names of the actors here, my dream would be to sit with them and
discuss the samurai life and the dreaded seppuku. I know that the man in the white was not really dead a the end, demonstration means, you act it out. He was great. I'd love for him to do a demo at my home city, the guy is hotter than the sun in the summer!
This video really captures what really happens is an actual seppuku ceremony, but I think they are staging it slowly, to show you exactly what happens and how he dies. It's fake, or the
plant would be bloody, but still, 2 great actors, great job men!!
This suicide ritual is very painful and gory, it ends your life in a matter of seconds.
I don't believe that what they made the samurais do was right, forcing people to die. However. I do respect the fact that it's the samurai code, suicide when shame and dishonor to the samurai name happens.
I think the demonstration was tastefully done, no blood or anything, and the
one committing sepuku was most still alive after taping, it was not real.
@PrincessSpearmint actually the stomach cut was intolerably painful and death came slowly. Thus the reason for the second, who stopped the agonyand ended the victim's life by decapitation.
@diddymuck , question: I noticed that a lot of samurais have some white either bandaging, or something white around them, and they cut the stomach at that area.
What is it for? I never really found out, could you tell me if you know?
@PrincessSpearmint Its called a Fundoshi. Its a single long band of cloth that's wrapped about the groin and usually the stomach area as a replacement for underware.

I have my Budo video. I can' t wait to watch it again! Oh God, it's the bes Japanese martial
arts video ever made, they do show detail, and there is minor violence, nothing too bad, but
they show you the ancient and historical riturals of the samurai, the weapons and all that stuff.
I can't wait to watch it, for those of you who are new to this. I suggest that you try to find this
video and watch it, it's worth the hunt and time.

I wonder if Japanese society expects businessmen who fail to commit seppuku. I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

I can't even begin to imagine the pain, they commit seppuku and calmly at times.
I don't think necesserily want to do it, but it's the sentence they were given.
I don't understand how they could do it on their own like that.
I suppose it's either that or being killed, but still. OUCH! I cringe at the
very thought of that belly cutting, with blood spewing all over the
place. Oh, it's horrid, really horrid.
