  • They were so adorable...and you can see that they have 5 distinctive personalities here, even though they all look alike. I have read that their own father treated them the worst of anyone, although it is shameful that anyone used them for financial gain. It's still going on today, with Kate plus 8~!

  • So cute :3 Too bad they were exploited :(

  • @thugapiteco the existence of a sixth child even at fetal stage is not evidenced

    its possible but unsubstantiated

  • I've been to there house 2 years ago. It was sent to North Bay and we got to check it out!

  • Some morons still say the Dionne's were not identical.

  • there are now only two left. Yvonne died of Cancer not long ago. what a shame on Canada for how we treated the family and them

  • @thugapiteco indeed poor girls they lost a sister even before birth

  • awwwww their so so cute bless them

  • Such pretty children! (:

  • They were four there right? So cute. They could carry a tune very well.

  • @Sheri451 yep they were four.

  • There was a set of identical quintuplet girls born in Mexico in 2004. I've seen a few pics of them via Google. I don't know why they got very little publicity internationally, considering they were the first surviving identical quints born since the Dionne's.

  • A set of identical quintuplets girls were born in Mexico in 2004. Check google to see a photo of them. SO CUTE!

  • can anyone tell me how marie and emelie died?

    They were very young.

  • according to wikipedia:

Émilie Marie Jeanne Dionne (died August 6, 1954 (aged 20) of accidental suffocation during an epileptic seizure at her convent)

Marie Reine Alma Dionne (Houle) (died February 27, 1970 (aged 35) of an apparent blood clot of the brain in Montreal)

  • Emilie had epilepsy in 1954 & Marie was found to have had thrown a stroke/blood clot in the brain in her sleep in 1970. Yvonne died of cancer in 2001. Let's hope they have found peace & are happy to be together again, waiting for the others.

  • Yvonne Edouilda Marie Dionne (died June 23, 2001 (aged 67) of cancer Émilie Marie Jeanne Dionne (died August 6, 1954 (aged 20) of accidental suffocation during an epileptic seizure at her convent)

    # Marie Reine Alma Dionne (Houle) (died February 27, 1970 (aged 35) of an apparent blood clot of the brain in Montreal)

  • if u look it up there's a movie about these kids. they were like horribly exploited and kidnapped from their parents to live in this sort of hospital setting. it's actually sad.

  • soo cute were they from?

  • Xmimaansalx, they are Canadians.

  • North Bay, Ontario - Canada My grandpa went to school with them

  • omg their so so cute little darlings

  • theyve always been so beautiful n so adorable as little girls..

  • what were they singing ??

    Sooooo cuteee :)

  • Their so cute, and it's such a sad but true story. Today only two Annette and Cecile are still living.

  • I thought there was only one left.

Gah! I am so bad at remembering family history T-T

  • Such beautiful little girls. It was so cute watching Yvonne and Annette annunciating their words. They all did really well considering English was not their language. It was so adorable that Emilie and Cecile were far more eager to point to Marie than to themselves. I'm surprised she wasn't bowled over.

  • MebeKeely

Actually the girls spoke both English and French at this time. Dr. Dafoe only spoke English and most of the nurses used to speak English with them so they spoke this language normally. Only, when they were six years old, their parents demanded their daughters to be educated only in French, the language most used by the family.

  • One thing to prove their identicality is this: each of the quintuplets had a "webbed toe" between their second and third toes. This condition only arose in 1 out of every 1,00 people.

  • this is cool im doing a historica fair project on the quints with my friend

  • ok wtf is going on here! i'm hearing like 10 diffrent things here so to all u brainiacs that know nothing here's the truth. If u hav identical anythings that means that one egg was fertlized and if split they are identical so the orignal quint spilt atleast 5 times. and if ur identical u don't have to share a placent with another baby or a sac!

  • I know exactly how indentical multiples happen with the spitting of an egg. It is just not sure that the dionne quints were identical or not. And I do believe identicals share a placenta, but not totally sure about that. You're right that they don't have to share a sac.

  • I love these dresses!

Their hair is cute too ^.^

  • They were all identical, but Yvonne and Annette shaed an embryonic sac, which made them a so called pare, and Marie and Emilie also shared a sac, which also made then a "pair". There are still questions about Cecile's so called twin. A story does go that Elzire lost a fetus early in pregnancy, which could have been the one sharing a sac with Cecile. But there's no proof that this actually happened. Beauty of the quints is that Cecile kind of is the bridge between both pairs. She resmebles both.

  • So that means that they weren't identical quints, but rather two sets of identical twins and a singleton who possibly had an identical twin...that makes much more sense, because they don't really look identical.

  • Jeyca80, looking alike or not says nothing about being identical. That some of them shared sacs also doesnt mean the fifth one (cecile) wasnt identical to the others either. Some identical multiples dont share sacs at all. Its most likely that they all were identical, but they just didnt look totally identical. Annette and Yvonne showed similarities, as well as Emilie and Marie. Cecile resembled both pairs, making them all identical. Pobably. there are more things to assume they all were.

  • I don't mean to be a pest about this, but actually there is a difference between being a FRATERNAL twin and an IDENTICAL twin, and it is mainly that they share a sac because the ovum split-thus making them identical because they share the same genetic code. Fraternal twins do not share the same genetic code because they were conceived through two separate ovums, thus they do not share a sac. And most siblings resemble each other but that doesn't mean they're identical-That's the reason for my ?.

  • identicals share placenta's, that's not the same as sharing sacs! Not all identicals share embryonic sacs. They sometimes have individual sacs. Believe me I know the difference between idnetical twins/multiples and fraternal. There are more reasons to assume the quints were identical.

  • If they didn't share the same genetic code, they are fraternal and not identical. That's my point. Whether they shared a sac or not is irrelevant; did they share placentas? If that's the case they were identical, if not they're fraternal. That's all I'm inquiring about.

  • You're right, they didn't test their dna, so we don't know for sure wether they were identical or not, just saying there are reasons to assume they were.

  • Oh and I believe nothing is ever mentioned about placenta's, that's why till the day of today we still don't know for sure wether they were identical or not. Or maybe some were and some not.

  • Ok, thanks!

  • The title sys Yvonne, Annette, Cecile, Emilie and Marie. But Cecile and Emilie are standing the other way around. Which you can also hear in the song

  • I love this video. Thank you for uploading!

  • Actually3 of them died. Only Annette and Cecile are still alive. Marie died when she was 36. Emilie when she was 20.

  • Are/were they really identical quints?

I've read an article about them that said they were originally 3 identical twins with one fetus "disappearing" in the early stage of pregnancy (natural abortioning ...whatever that is called in english)

  • Yepp they're actually identical quints :)

Sadly, two of them died when they were in their twenties.
