  • nice job...i made one for my touch4g - as an arm band/carry with a top flap and lined ...i liked the simple / partial wetting you did - seams only....thanks...

  • Well made case and well made video too. What's the two small white bits you jam into the stitching at 4:00? I thought it was a bit of glue, but they look solid, like plastic.

  • you should open a online store and sell your cases!

  • you should open a store.

  • wow

  • Thats really great but its hard to make it and it will tKe a lot of time but thanks

  • @FLONEKLO I've made a few Ipod cases myself (mimicking Ian), and they honestly don't take too long, considering not too much planning goes into them.

  • I really like this! Looks much more durable than the one I bought fromm apple, the one from apple ripped, causing my iPod to fall and crack..

  • I'm curious. Do all leathers become soft and moldable after being wetted? Because I've got some (don't know what type or anything like that) and I want to do this, but I'm not sure whether getting it wet might ruin it.

  • @MsExLibirs Not all leather no, you need vegetable tanned leather for this sort of work. Chrome tanned leather (used for shoes etc.) wouldn't act the same.

  • @satansbarber Thanks for the quick reply! Your info is great, but I'm curious if there is any way to tell the difference between chrome tanned and veg tanned leather?

  • You my friend are a fucking genius! Awesome looking case. So pro!

  • Your Awesome. MashAllah :) I'm trying to make a leather case for my car's remote. I have the leather and the Nylon. I have a design as well, but can't build it and cut it I need to learn. any suggestions???

  • Another awesome job dude!

  • yes...I would purchase one from you if you had a store, very beautiful.. :)

  • very nice sir, I would purchase one from you if you had a store, very beautiful.

  • satansbarber is my favorite youtuber....

  • Very nice indeed.

  • What kind of leather cement are you using? It looks like a very big container. Thanks!

  • Nice work! :)

What is that tool called, the one you cut out the bending lines with?

    :)

  • woah

  • Very nice job!

What are you doing with the seams?

And what are you doing with the edges? Is this wax or why do they look so shiny?

  • quick question. Where can I get the leather and how do I request specific thickness' ?

  • what did you once you where at the end of stiching at 3min 50sec

  • That is a very nice case. Planning on making one myself, but I'll be using a thinner, leather like material. Just wondering how I would make an imprint onto the material? I don't have any tools, but is there any way to just use say heat and say a metal piece (with a logo or something) to make my imprint? Any suggestions?

  • Great case!, what is it you are rubbing on between the dye and the finish coating? It looks like some conditioning prep..?

  • Nice little case. It looks pretty sharp and the finish is brilliant. I'm presuming that's veg tan leather about 3mm thick? Given the iPhone 4 is pretty slim do you think it would form properly around the curved bits? (you can tell I'm going to have a go at making one soon :p).

  • @1nf0fr34k No 3mm is too thick for that, 2-2.5mm is ample and wet forms fine

  • @satansbarber Cheers, I was meaning on the corners. You went with the folded form, I'm thinking I'll make mine in 2 part and try to form the curves tight too (I may skive a little out to help it form in that area). I'll probably put a carving on mine too but just because I'm into that kind of thing at the moment. Some good tips on grooving and stitch marking prior to dye etc there btw. Thanks ^^

  • it looks like u relly worked on it

  • what kind of resin are u using at 4:11??

  • i was like ... when i saw the final case.woah you did a brilliant job looks so expensive and not homemade i will subscribe and rate for that cooooolll video

  • Another simple and yet outstanding level of quality and design from you sir.

    Well done.

  • Nice work ... What thickness leather are you using?

  • very nice:-)

  • Very nice work. You should really look into making them available. Just cut a piece of wood iPhone size to use as the template. You could easily make them for the iPod too. My only suggestion like the Roberu case try making one with a cutout for the touch screen, if people are buying those ugly Roberu cases for hundred think of how much you could make with your cases.

  • Love the video. What tool do you use after you wrap the phone? The one that creates the inner groove?

  • @maciijazz a v-gouge

  • Best videos on the tube! 100%

  • Great job!

Can you check out this brilliant case from a Japanese Company named Roberu

Voted one of the top leather cases for the iphone

they're quite expensive and retail for hundreds of bucks..

and someone in a blog called scription.typepad has made a diy copy of it

it would be great if you could try to make one of your own so I can try to make one too.. thanks!

also, if you like i could send the links for you to check out..

  • @lilyandfatsister I looked at that Roberu case, it looks like about 50 pence worth of leather and a bit of old knicker elastic up the back, it's not even nice! Beyond me why anyone would pay hundreds of dollars for it to be honest?

  • Are you taking orders for these? If so, how much will you charge?

  • @k0416506 I'm not no sorry.

  • Nice job. For holes to sew through, some use a punch, or awl, some use a dremel with a drill bit. I use a small drill press with a drill bit to drill out all the sewing holes. Makes an even stitch on the back side of the project. I tied knots for years then I learned that if you just back sew four holes, it will never come loose, and you don't need to tie knots, or burn ends. Also I wax my thread by pulling it across some beeswax, or a candle before sewing, which makes sewing easier.

  • Wow that was insanely awesome! Do u use that case? How did u make the sign that said leoids leather?

  • @davie4500 the case was sold, I had the stamp custom photoengraved

  • Very nice

  • Brilliant mate well done

  • Excellent video, Ian. Well done.
