  • nice video!

  • It looks like one long early morning! Spectacular! In Russia we have short days too, but it gets brighter than this.

  • Yes. This time-lapse video was made with still images, each shot about 10-seconds apart. Good luck on your own video.

  • hey! ill love to know how you did this, i have a similar project to do for my video editing class. i live in chicago and was planning on doing it here. Was this video done with still photos?

  • omg i live in fair banks!!! well i used to at ages 2-5

  • Just amazing! Greetings from Mexico.

  • This is why they shouldn't send an Oklahoman to live in Alaska. I'd like my sunlight, please!!

  • this was so gayyy

  • I went to Fairbanks in Aug 08. I stood outside the Westmark hotel and said "I must see this place in winter." This past winter I did just that. It was -30, gorgeous! (Also went to Anchorage and Kotzebue same trip.) Alaska in summer is beautiful, but Alaska in winter is spectacular. I will come back again.... in winter...I watch this video a lot, it calms my soul.

  • Great video. It shows just what a winter's day is like in Fairbanks. Thanks.

  • This sounds great !

  • Man y r ppl so lucky I want to live in Alaska btw if any1 lives in Fairbanks does any1 play videogames in Fairbanks

  • @umbergerwill No, we all live in igloos.

[Sent from conductive whaleblubber and bone device.]

  • I thought winter solstice occured on the 21th of December, not the 28th.

  • Just wondering if this was overlooking the West Tanana Drive?

  • I loved the winter nights...dark and comforting. The auroras are gorgeous when they show up.

  • @YummYakitori of course, because Singapore near the equator.

  • excellent video; i gotta get here once before i die....see these days for real.

  • wow, it's like an all day sunrise.. (or sunset)

  • 3 poeple had friends who died on the sunset time.

  • Wow! That is really short! In Singapore, the sun rises at 6.20am and sets only at 6.50pm

  • Really great video, I could NEVER live there the winter darkness here in New York aggravates me to no end!

  • Thats crazy! Just getting out of school and the Sun is already gone...

  • is a long night

  • Very nice, can't see that in France! Ak seems to be great

    What the song used?

  • Very Short day in the winter, but very long days in the summer. The Northeast gets longer days in the summer then the southeast, but the Southeast gets longer days in the winter then the northeast.

  • I love this video, thank you. Makes you wistful for the sun, and the music is very lovely too.

  • Hellow. I think that this video is very valuable for many people except near Arctic and Antarctic. I live in Japan. I wonder the blue sky above and the red sky( the sky aglow with the setting sun) below. Now I'm reading a book "The science on light and color". So I understood Rayleigh scattering caused the blue sky and the red sky. In Japan I can see the blue sky in daytime and the red sky in the evening. But I cannot see the red sky in daytime.

  • Wow.... That's really amazing.... great great video....

  • love the chimneys

  • ugh...up in Barrow the sun stays out for the entire summer and never sets then in november it finally does set and we dont see again til febuary....its crazy

  • never underestimated the fact that I can enjoy a longer day... untill now ;) thank you!

  • We get this in the middle of June living in Australia, although we're not far South enough for anything as Goth as this - mid-winter sunrise is at 7.35am, sunset at 5.10 pm and maximum altitude is 29 degrees.

  • everytime i see such a spectacle i almost cry.. i went from italy to live in sweden because of this...but i feel i'm not north enough..maybe i'm crazy..i feel that north is calling me!!

  • Really gorgeous video.. where's our credit! (IARC staff).. :)

  • @palefacealaskan. I did this video for fun! It was a personal project made with my own equipment. I have good notes on how to do this, if you're interested. Definitely not work-related. Thanks for the "georgeous" comment!

  • crazy

  • That's one short day! Nice lapse!

  • I was around there that day!!! AWSOMESAUCE!!!

  • @metalkorny Me too!

  • I use to live in Fairbanks I miss it thank you for sharing...

  • Beautiful... Amazing

But this is why I don't live in Alaska... because I NEED MY SUN !... LOL!

  • It is the same in England, very short days in winter, but worthit in the long summer days when the sun not set until 10pm :)

  • Last year I flew over the North Pole during a JFK-Beijing flight and the sunrise was the most beautiful I have ever seen.

  • I know you didn't think about it , but you were at that moment living out the dreams of so many people. Including mine.

  • I know you didn't think about it but at that moment you were living the dream of thousands of people. Me being one of them.

  • I love this! Thanks!

  • This is the simple truth which I have been trying to explain to people for many years but it's something that they just have a problem visualizing. Thank you for this video with it accurate depiction and its graceful visual and complimentary music.

Finally my friends can see what I've been talking about. --- Time to go back home for at least a winter visit.

  • Excellent. I saw the inverse of this in mid July 2009 when I rode my cycle up to Deadhorse and back - Atigun pass was spectacular with the sun never setting - thanks for a great video!

  • WOW!!!

  • just beautiful

  • music made with garbageband

  • I see Russia!!!!!

  • spectacular! I really like the way the clouds move in, wonderful lapse.

  • ohhh/.

  • Wow...that is amazing!

  • Excellent video! This really shows people what life is like here. Plus the music was lovely as well...very peaceful video!

  • Thanks Eric, for a trip down memory lane! 25 years in Alaska, 18 of those in Fairbanks, were the best times of my life. I will always return to visit.....maybe to stay. Outstanding video!

  • Very nice Eric I enjoyed it a lot. I had never seen it done with the new technology.

  • fantastic!!

  • Very nice!

  • Very nicely done, thanks for sharing it. I share crobisonak sentiment.

  • Stunning......reminds me why I am so lucky to live here.

  • Great photography... thanks for reminding me why I no longer live in Fairbanks

  • @ammochief2 We true Alaskans, however, love the winter, keeps the non-hackers and the riff-raff out ; )

  • Beautiful! Thanks for posting.
