Its also a lap steel. You cant use a normal guitar for that (unless u raise the nut but thats another can of worms)

It seems very cool, but I don't like how he refers to the steel as a "slide" or the style as "slide." He seems like a cool guy, though, and his playing sounded pretty good too! I like it!

I don't see why you need this instead of, or in addition to, a regular guitar. It does have more... twang, I guess, in the sound, but you can achieve that with a decent amp and a slide anyway...

Lap steels like this are unradiused, which makes them much easier to play with a tone bar.

This is like the coolest thing ever! You always need another lap steel anyway, especially when you're asked to do a tune in E, and then they throw an Ab or something-random-like-that tune at you. So what a great second steel (assuming you already have one!). And it looks Da Bomb.
