My mom and dad used to dance to this song in our kitchen when i was a kid. My mom is gone now, and every time i hear this song it give me goose bumps.
Does anyone know where I can find the story behind this song? I have looked on google on wiki the free encylopedia but I only find different variations. I have heard this "urban legend" told by family and I would like to read about it.. If anyone knows where I can find this story, please comment me back with the link to the site or email it to me..THANK YOU...btw...I like this song
hey,umm well this story is based on something thaty happens up the road from my house, she died in a car reck on this bridge from 13 brides road, now she haunts the bridge and hitches rides from men and when they pull up into the driveway she vanishes! i love this song, and the story is true. and btw it IS based on a road by my house.
smiley bates and red sovine made me cry on more than one occasion, thing is you can hear the song over and over and it still pulls the heart strings.. very emotional music
Great music! If you've heard the story of Mary Denise Lands in Marshall, Michigan this song and others are inspirations for many especially her family.
The 5th anniversary of her disappearance is March 12, 2009.
Take a moment to learn more about Mary's case.
Search- Mary Denise Lands
Were going to pass this song along & maybe, just maybe, this song will touch the heart of one witness, who will call the Michigan State Police and answer our question, Where is Mary?

The only people that can take this music seriously as written are either morons, extremely poorly educated rubes, or both. Does that help? The success of Red Sovine is -- in itself -- proof that we have terrible schools in America. Are you following me yet? This wicked Nashville flunkie, Red Sovine, cooked up this formula to steal money from trucker families. He should have been put in jail for criminal cynicism. Am I clear yet?

If lined up teddy bear, little billy's christmas, little joe, phantom 309, and bringing mary home -- all the words side by side -- could anyone tell which is which?
People, get real. I am a bit shocked and dismayed that this guy Red Sovine took advantage of people's sentimentality for money in this way. Appalling, frankly. The comments posted here are a sad commentary on our education system in america.
Education has not a thing to do with "feeling" and emotion...something you lack..and frankly...Im sorry that you have never felt the love many of us have shared in this life.......hence, the enjoyment of Red Sovines songs. ....Love to yoU and your cold heart............SQ1
Oh my gosh...I grew up on some of Red Sovine's music too, and I'm a wuss when it comes to his tearjerkers...Dad still gets a chuckle out of finding a song of his he doesn't think I've heard b4 & playing it when I visit my parents. He was just telling me about this song this weekend when I was visiting for Father's Day, and I cried even in his telling. Now I cried again, and called and played it for him. Thanks for posting, and giving me an excuse to reach out to Dad again! :-)
This song, and many others like it have been part of my growing up. They have special memories of my Dad singing them to us. Thanks for posting this!!
