  • from what clip is 1:21, please answer ?

  • This is why I stopped dancing ballet. It's hard to achieve the kind of perfection that teachers expect when you have scoliosis, and boy, my teacher was always pissed at me, saying I was "insolent," like the teacher in that video. Is that something ballet instructors are trained to say across the world?

    Ah, deja vu...

  • No dancers should have to worry about their body at all. It is dance, and you love to do it. Don't put yourself down because you may not be as skinny. I truly believe that there is no limit to what every dancer can achieve. Why? Because every child possesses a gift that is ready to be opened.

  • Ballet shocking secret site: bal.nn.cx

  • 2:36 / 2:53 Bitch and throw the garbage teacher across the hall!

  • I work 9 hours a day. It damages my feet. It hurts a lot at the first time but you don't feel the pain in one month.

  • whats the name of the song? great video!

  • thanks for your advices MrKLT1945. i am triying to be the best but i have to be alive for that. and i am 43 kg now. (it's better isn't it?)

do you know how can make my back more flexible without injuring myself.

i am in a special rehab -thanks my family- with therapists for anorexia. i feel better and stronger. maybe i am not thin enough but i am alive and i will be for a long time i hope.

  • @zivatony23 Sorry long time no reply! The well-known 'cat' stretch on all fours is a good and safe place to start spine flexibility. For more advanced stuff please find that top-class ballet physio who can advise further exercises and will identify your weaker areas immediately. So glad to know you are beginning to take care of yourself - and don't rush into exercises; little and often quality work will do wonders without wasting valuable energy. All the very, very best to you. lol

  • @MrKLT1945 thank you for advices. i will try it. i eat more now.

  • I love ballet! <3<3<3

  • my teacher said a ballerina has to be at least 170 cm and under 44 kg. i dont think all of the dancers like that but russians are. ballet is hard ,is pain ,is ANOREXIA.

  • and know i am 37 kilograms. my back is not flexible but my body is thinner

  • Actually all this made me want to do is just get Back into Dancing!

  • @chiave1983 not sure about how I am about learning Pointe though ^_^;

Is it as Damaging to the feet as it's been Said to be?

  • @chiave1983 if you're doing it once a week, with toe pads, it doesn't damage your feet, it didn't even hurt me, but if its more than 1 hour a week, i'm guessing it will "damage" your feet

  • I was trying to be a professional dancer but my teacher said that I am too fat to be a dancer.(I am 14 and just 45 kilograms). my back is not flexible enough. she always calls me idiot. in my school most of the dancers are anorexic. I don't want to be like them but i think i have to. I started to diet. I don't want to eat anymore. I just want to be a pro.

  • @zivatony23 PLEASE get advice from 1) a specialist ballet physiotherapist & 2) a qualified dietician, as not all ballet teachers R intelligent, nor even good at teachingt! No one can dance with anorexic - it is physically impossible to do the workload if you develop anorexia. Love the shape Mother Nature gave you; sensible eating and intense training will get weight off Whether the basic technique is pro standard is another vital consideration & does not come about through anorexia. lol

  • scary teachers.... :( Is it from Russian?

  • To people commenting on my song choice, first I originally made this video with Bon Jovi's acoustic version of "Everyday" but there were copyright problems, so I changed it. Second, I didn't want to use classical or typical "ballet" music for this. I wanted to approach the video from a different angle and try to show more emotion through song choice.

  • to anybody who isnt a ballerina that commented on this video, it is hard work, you have to devote alot of your life if you hope to become a professional....its a very hard skill, and if you notice, ballerinas and any kind of dancers mask their strength with beauty and grace, i have been dancing for many years and i love it, it is my life, training is hard, but worth it (:

  • @BabyGirl0413love absolutely! that's what I was trying to portray with this video. So many people think it's just about tutus and looking pretty, but there's so much more that goes on behind the scenes, so much pain, so much exhaustion, but at the end of the day it's all worth it when everything comes together.

  • Dancing ballet it´s amazing, but it´s really too hard!!!

  • No pain,, No gain. Unfortunatly :/

  • I loved the clips of the girl dancing by herself in the studio. She was not nearly as tiny as most dancers, but she flowed so well, and looked beautiful and genuinely happy.

  • where are the clips the have captions from?

  • @kiiiddoooo They are from the documentary "A Beautiful Tragedy" directed by David Kinsella

  • the cruelty you see likely comes from russia, while I do not believe that is necessary, it does happen, but not always. I was a ballet dancer for 43 yrs and that was not nearly enough for me! When I was young and training, I always wished I could live at the russian school, I was that serious, my mother held me back from the opportunities that were offered to me, and that was way more cruel to me than you see here. I never gave up my dream and never stopped working for it loving every minute!

  • OMG! these girls are soo good for their age!

  • As a dancer I understand what these ladies are going through my teacher was also hard on me all the time. I use to think she was so mean but now i understand she only wants the best for me.

  • message to mekaththeoneandonly; be strong against your nasty & damaging teacher & do not let her destroy you or your love for ballet...she is the type of 'role model' that corrupts & destroys us. Excel without her and beyond her and take your experiences on in to the future where you can encourage everyone to do and love ballet regardless of body size. If you have heard of Dance UK&'the Healthier dancer program' contact them for support if you need it. if things get really bad contact CDET xxxx

  • ive been dancing ballet for 14 years and last year i took a massive injury and was told i would never dance again, after a miracle in 8 months i was fully healed with no problems and allow to dance however i had gain 8 pounds because i wasnt exercising as much, since then my teacher has never stop call me fat even though ive lost all the weight, ballet was my life and i loved it more than anything and now she makes it hell i cant wait to leave and join and company where i never have to see her.

  • @wendyverdades Good for you. Not everyone wants to be or could be a prima ballerina but good amateur classes are fun & great exercise for mind & body. Having some covering on your bones is NO barrier to any form of dance. To leonradosnob - I for one have never been impressed with overall standards of dance at Juilliard & suggest you stop being sooooo up your own butt & beg, borrow or steal a few manners and grey cells. You're not the finished article yet. lol from retired classical dancer.

  • @wendyverdades As a fattie i couldn't agree more lol!

  • @wendyverdades Amen!

  • @wendyverdades Dancing has nothing to do with your weight but with passion and love. I love to dance and so I practise as much as I can because I love it. My best fried isn´t what is called "normal weight" but she´s a wonderful dancer because she dances with her heart and you can see that she has fun and loves it. We´re doing ballett together for so many years and we have fun although it was not always easy for her because of her weight. But now, she´s accepted.

  • nice video

  • ...too many fat girls...Dnace is for thin people not for fat!!!

  • @leonradosnob1989 wtf is wrong with you?

  • @Lauriefishbone me nothing....what wrong with you?? I just say the true!

  • @leonradosnob1989 OR NOT, just go puke and leave art alone, you'll deserve to dance when you'll understand it

  • @FyreBalletDancer I has been in Juliard for 9 months and I never seen a fat girls...so I know what a talking about!!!!

  • @leonradosnob1989 huuh you've never seen any "fat girl" ooh what an argument ! seriously ? ballet is for people who have something to say and who are willing to work hard for art ... NOT FOR SKINNY PEOPLE ... sure you get skinny when u dance a lot but that doesnt mean u have to be skinny to start dancing ...

who do you even find fat in that video ?

  • @leonradosnob1989 I think you're getting your cause and effect a bit mixed up here...

  • 2:36 :OOO

  • i like ;)

  • anyone know what brand of shoes at 2:57 ?

  • This is ballet, not football. Who told you that it would be easy? I don't know why ballerinas complain, if this is the life that thousands of girls wish thay could have!

It's necessary, it's good and I hate all ballerinas that try to show that they are "victims" of this "cruel" world. Ballerinas are lucky girls.

  • Ballet não é apenas uma dança é um esporte é uma paixao

  • omg! this slim girl with so long legs is so.. omfg!

  • perfect training..;*

  • I actually wish i DID get training like this. Then maybe i would be as good of a dancer as i want to be </3

  • @r0cketshipsandradi0s Oh you have NO idea how much I agree... I hate being in a secluded area with no good schools around where I can have a teacher who's hard on me... but for now I'm stuck in a small, once-a-week class with nobody pushing me but myself.... ugh! motivating is harder than i think anything else!

  • @loulie1997

I completely agree. Motivation is hard.

  • oh my god this song .. great video :))

  • i dance ballet too.. and i can say its the best thing i've ever started with!! even when i'll never be a professional, because i just don't have the body shape and the perfect feet... i can tell, it's fun though ;) <3 ballet

  • This is true and it is hard work, but when you want to be something so bad you will go through the pain.Just like a mother would do for her child. When I feel the pain like today after contemporary.I am sore, but I feel happy because I know I worked hard at practice.Yes,this is all true, but of course my teachers do not say bad stuff to us.That is my life, and I LOVE it!

  • the teachers seem mean does anyone have a dance teacher like that?? respond to this if you do please

  • @dancopointe21 mine is not that mean but i have heard stories from other friends of mine that were doing professional ballet and they were even meaner

  • her feet look georgeous at 2:59 , what kind of shoes is she wearing?

  • i agree that creed song is a no no for this video...

  • @prisilavila i believe its fine for the video haha

  • Congrats!!! Nice song and amazing video! I work with ballet since I was born...in Brazil and our life is not easy as you know...

  • It's lovely as a sonnet, just as ballet should always be. I'm not traditionally a Bon Jovi fan. I'm really... I have no love for New Jersey's soft rocker. Why do the ladies love him?

But this right here... so perfect, fitting... so what ballet is about. The art of it... this is professional classical dance. And this, this whip-cracking, drill-instructing high-demanding... Yes, this ballet.

And come to think of it, a nice lil' ditty by Jovi. Nice piece, dancegrl.

    --Blown Away, Dane Youssef

  • dancing is hard work, and if u wanna b a professional, u'r gunna have to work ur heart out. But if ur teacher takes it to an extreme by saying "ur too fat, lose weight" u need a different teacher, there's a fine line between skinny and sick in the dancing industry. And there is a very thick line between fat and healthy when it comes to dancers, ive been dancing my entire life, i no.

  • 2:14 I'm sorry not being mean but in this day in age no ballet company won't even take a skilled dancer being that size. Her legs were mainly to wide.

  • @IndiaHicks1 yes but she is really good haha better than other skinny ones

  • the footage at around 2:55, where's that from?

  • soso? ich jetz bei dir au :)

das lied is wirklich geil :D

  • wonderful ♥

  • I wonder what kind of shoes she's wearing at 2:58

  • beautiful..the training is hard..my teacher is mean..but it's what i love and its my life..i wouldn't trade it for the world <3

  • @LuluLiefdeHaat

    you got that right!

  • Ballet is one of the toughest disciplined art forms you can ever go through. The scrutiny, agony, and painful training is one that keeps many from not ever wanting to go through it. I love ballet and I think that every dance form began from the ballet fundamentals. Thank you for sharing this video. Some of the training is horrendous. People have no idea until they try ballet, just how hard it is. I see you used some of the a Beautiful Tragedy videos as well.

  • love the vid. i love watching performances but watching classes, rehearsals and behind-the-scenes is my favorite. thank you for sharing.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. I'm sharing it with my fb friends. :)

  • Hello Author, where can I find more of the clip you added in 0:17? Thanks

  • im a dancer i no how this feels

  • ballet is really hard..but fun..

  • JEEZ!

i know ballet teahcers have to be tuf but insulting them and calling them names isnt going 2 help anything

sum of those teachers were plain cruel calling them fat and stupid

  • @bbhouk1 you might be like 40 kilos and they will still tell you to get thinner.its insane

  • @bbhouk1 it makes them mentally stable. Its to help them handle the real world when it comes to dance, people can be cruel, they know they have potential, i used to go to a strict ballet studio, she was tough, i left when i was 10, and you know what she said to me? Why are you quiting? you were just starting to get good! it hurt, but when i switched dance studios, i pushed myself to my best potential, im 15 now btw, the only thing they shouldnt say is calling them fat. thats not right....

  • @bbhouk1 It mostly happens in the Russian Ballet Schools. Did you know that they only give them TWO meals there!!??

  • @LaurenStar111

Well that's not so weird, I'm a gymnast and I only eat two meals a day also. Some days, only one and then a snack for lunch (by snack I mean like a couple crackers and grapes). It's not really that bad.

  • @bbhouk1 I've been to Russia for training once and it was hard work. I've seen a video of gymnastics and it looks very physical, like ballet but there was so much more flips and very impressive arabesques ;) cause i always thought that ballet was harder cause of what happened in Russia but after seeing that video--i'de say their about the same :)

  • @LaurenStar111

Lol, yes, trust me I've done both...Gymnastics takes more stamina and power, ballet takes more tecnique and grace (sp?) (: Ballet is a challenging art, and gymnastics is a beautiful sport<3 They are of the same difficulty, but in different ways because of their different characters(:

  • @bbhouk1 I absolutely agree. My old teacher did the same to my best friend and we both switched our studio. Never take insults from someone who is "trying" to make you a ballerina.

  • @bbhouk1 Only the strong survive.

  • Who´s that at 2.21 ?

  • @LovelyMe93 It's from the clips from the Pennsylvania ballet

  • @thedancinggymnast , can you find it here on youtube?

  • @LovelyMe93 yeh 90grotesca and brancusifrogger have uploaded videos. They used to be on their website about 6 years ago, I remember watching them.

  • @thedancinggymnast , thank you very much ! :)

  • 2:45

    omg what a bitch

if i wer tha girl i woulda slapped her

  • Yeah, that's russian Vaganova... You should watch the documentary: a beautiful tragedy of David Kinsella!

  • i will thankxx

and i reken putting too much presure on wanna b prima ballerina's is wayy too much no wonder only a select few get it x

  • Nathalie2905 Where can I find it?

  • Just type: david kinsella and you will find the 3 parts of the documentary. It's not the full documentary, just some impressions of it...

  • Thanks :)

  • ...which is why you're not a primaballerina. no offence, but if it was all nice and happy it would be called 6th birthdayparty and not ballet.

  • yeahh i get tha buh talking they treat 3 years olds like tha its basicly abuse expecally for the young ones

and dont get snotty wiv me

  • yeah, you do have a point there but people know how ballet is, and if the children aren'T treated like that, they simply won't achieve a very high standard. as sad as it is. but if children don't like the way they're treated they can always quit. which is what I did at the age of 8 cause I was never good with harshness. I started doing rhythmic gymnastics then,.

  • yess i surpose like horse riding wen u fall u have to get right back up otherwise its just gonna happen again and again

    and ohh did u

do u still do ballet ?

  • nah, like I said, I quit. but I started doing rhythmics, which is at least similiar. you should check it out...just type "anna bessonova" and 100 of videos will show up. it's really a wonderful sport to watch. less artistic than ballet, but more spectacular

  • haha okaies :) x

  • yess i have seen rhythmics before

i like a more then ballet its more interesting i think :) xx

  • yeah me too. : )

  • I like rhythmic more

  • whoa, i'm in gymnastics and we stretch and all, but ballet you have to be perfect like 24/7.

  • ballet indeed is rough

  • 2:36, omG! :s

  • I love ballet so much! It's very hard sometimes. Watching yourself in the mirror and thinking "I'm not good enough. I'm too fat." But at the end of the day I'm proud of myself. Having off days is the worst but after an off day I feel great again! Good luck to all of those who dream of becomeing ballerinas.

  • Never stop dreaming and believing in what is possible:)

  • i'll always be that tiny dancer :*)

  • That was beautiful!!! I almost cried!

  • amazing

    i miss ballet

    so much

    :(

  • To that dancegrl---

This is great! I like the refreshing approach of using acoustic soft rock to accompany this kind of raw ballet.

What about YOUR experiences in this field, dancegrl? With a monike like that, you must have some stories...

Me, myself? I have been taking ballet for about nine years now. I have danced with the Alameda School of Dance and the College as well.

I would be honored to be accepted to your ballet page as well....

    --Sincerely, Dane Youssef

  • what's with the naked kid? She's in nothing but her underwear!

  • @apluskel its to see the way her body is, its to make sure shes in the right position. (:

  • @shiningstar0721 no that's what thights and leotards are for ... this is just akward ... it sais in the complete video they're trying to see if the doby will grow into "the right body for ballet" which i think is a very wrong thing to say because you're body becomes what you make out of it an how much you train for what you love ... rejecting people because of their body at 10 years old is just stupid

  • @apluskel They are auditioning to get into a Russian Ballet school, the teachers have to see their bodies....it was from a documentary from a while ago, I can't remember the name

  • awsomei want to and am on my way to being a ballerina

  • Is some of the footage from 'Ballerina' the documentary? ?

  • there's a few clips from that documentary, most of it is from the documentary "a beautiful strength" and then there's a lot of other random clips

  • @dancegrl9194 can I still buy these documentaries or areen't they available anymore? somehow i can't find them at amazon ...

  • @xxaimscheerxx It's called

"A Beautiful Tragedy". You can type in that or "ballet school" in the search bar. It's by david kinsella. there's three parts. AMAZINGLY GOOD

  • my ballet teacher would never say any thing like that to any off us. she also wouldnt hit us

  • As a ballerina myself I know the joy and pain we go through and I can relate to this video !

  • wonderfull

  • Very impressive video that captures exactly what you wanted to! Very well done :)

  • @pinkdancer0708 : this video is not perfect

it almost covers the begining of ur dance career but not as a whole

    as o whole

    it hurts

  • The only reason why I said perfect is because at most people don't understand what ballet is. This video shows some, not all, things that ballerinas face. I did not mean perfect in the way that you thought it was. I know ballet is hard. Teachers push you.. its painful... I am a ballerina and I do know.

  • actualy that doesnt even start to describe the pain that us ballet dancers go thru

i mean my teacher used to push on your shoulders to get ur splits perfect

so hard that u would cry!

and when u dont get the part in the show its the most devastating thing in the world

  • the song is "one last breath" from Creed

  • lovely video! thanx!

  • amazing pointe work!! great job :)

  • iv been dancing for at least 4 hours a day i know how much it hurts and how much presure the dancers on this video would be going through i feel sorry for them

  • i have been dancing since i was two, ballet, jazz, modern, tap, ect., its NOT this cruel!

  • well, consider yourself lucky. there are actually many people who endure dance training just like this, myself included.

  • @funnyheart1 actually this video makes some of the training look easy. especially if you compare it to the russian schools

  • @funnyheart1 sorry what i meant to say was that some of this makes it look easy, but most of the things that looked cruel are from russian schools and the ballet training in russia is very intense! kids at the age of 5 or 6 start training and never stop it really is cruel but they want it

  • @funnyheart1 ya it is its even cruel-er

    if thats a word

  • @funnyheart1 it depends where you take it.

  • @funnyheart1 many people do go through training like this, especially i you go to a big school or dance seriously & not just for exercise

  • @funnyheart1 I know from experience that the training is this intense, but if you're talking about the cruelty the teachers are showing to their students, I agree. I dance at a pretty tough studio, but no teacher should be telling you you're an idiot. If that's the case, it's time to find a new studio.

  • @funnyheart1 maybe not for you..

  • @funnyheart1 are u in advanced ballet

  • @funnyheart1 it can be even worse believe me

  • @funnyheart1 Usually there is only that cruel of trainning in Europe. Russia is one of the main countries. There dancers are expected to have a bmi of less than 11 percent when runway models in the United States aren't allowed in shows if they have a bmi of 14 or less. It is a serious problem that needs to be addressed in society today!

  • @BrandilynBreakdown Where are you getting that BMI statistic? That is not true (I'm a professional ballet dancer). However, yes, you're right, there are some "cruel" ballet teachers out there. In the states too. That's just how it is.

  • @BrandilynBreakdown

where do you get 14? r u serious? my bmi is 18 and i'm not considered skinny by most people

  • I have been dancing ballet and jazz since i was 3 . It is the most intoxicating feeling i can ever imagine or feel. I literally have not other words to describe how I feel when i am dancing and what i can make my body do. I have been dancing for 16 years of my life and it is who i am.

  • That lady is extremely descriptive xDD

  • wie heißt das Song?

  • you used a CREED song with a ballet video?! foreshame!!!

  • it actually WAS an acoustic bon jovi song, but youtube made me change it and this was the only song that somewhat matched =/

  • @Ninjerina

It is Creed, I know :(

But hey, it matches and sounds great with the video :) You usually find classical pieces with ballet on YouTube, but this is not a bad change.

  • Great video. You have to appreciate the extreme difficulty in being a good ballerina and how they make it look so effortless and graceful.

  • Полу профессионально,девушки толстые!

  • this video rocks!!! i love the first part.

    :)

  • creepy old lady!! idiots don't dance???... ...dance is such a beautiful thing and the fact that they pressure that much those girls is something terrible...shame on people like that..!!! :(...

but by the way nice video...exept for the old women..:s hahaha

  • Idiots dont dance.

  • @anabeliux nott really,,

ballet teachers want you to be perfect.

and thats the way that they have to do it,

    they dont want to,

but thats the only way people actually listen.

ive been pressure like that too.

and now i'm on pointe and going to juliarrrddd.

    sooo.

    yeah.

  • ballet isnt as beautiful as ppl make it out to be its a brutal art...but in the end when u get something right and ur teacher smiles and says good job or the driector say ok next part u kno uv done well and all the cuts brusius and blisters r worth it(thats at leased wht i think)

  • be serious
