XML is language for describing data.

AJAX uses XML for back and forth information delivery.

HTML is language for describing information to end user.

So language description on 24:00 is ok.

XML is really information overload. Even though AJAX is a term originally designed for XML transactions, hence the "X" in AJAX, databases that return pure HTML back is actually better; that, or JSON, or delimited text. XML creates a huge performance impact because there is massive overhead over the net.

I think that's why I implied returning HTML to the Client was ok, but if this is describing Web Services (instead of solely Cloud Computing) then XML would be used in most SOAP and I believe REST services on the POST side.

It was going smoothly, until describing the languages at around 24:00.

HTML/XML are basically the same thing, which is why there is XHTML. XML is more meta oriented, neither do any transporting back and forth, that's what the Hypertext Transfer Protocol does.

I would put HTML and XML togeter on the image and put CSS where HTML is.

I'll be honest, I didn't sit through this whole thing, it was very boring. I'd also like to add that your analogy is retarded. English and Spanish are not basically the same language, Spanish is latin based, while English is Germanic based w/ some words of Latin origin. After listening to that portion of the presentation again, the point that they are not the same in this context is correct.

To add, I wouldn't list just 1 lang for any of those, except JavaScript. SQL is not the only lang that accesses a data store. PHP can be replaced by Perl, C#, Java, any lang used in CGI. In addition to HTML: XSL/XHTML.

Again, not listening to the whole presentation, my guess is that they are using SOAP or some other Web Service, which is why XML is used. I don't like XML b/c of the massive overhead used. A better alternative: JSON
