  • Man, I thought Vietnamese and Chinese were like brother. MA is kind of knowledge, knowledge need to be share, and then knowledge will grow.

  • can anyone tell me what type of bo staff he is using?

  • nhat nam. it is it?

  • @ernis994 No. It is "Vo Binh Dinh".

  • @webzanboy

its almost like nhat nam :D

  • bai roi tuyet voi.....

  • awesome

  • Why couldn't this kid be Aang for the Last Airbender? XD

  • Vovinam is created by a Vietnamese Martial Artist but it is not exactly 100% Vietnamese styles. It is a combination of most of the traditional Vietnamese martial arts like Binh Dinh and some of the world most popular martial arts like Karate, Chinese Kung Fu, Maye Thai, Teak Won do ect... Vovinam is a "Melting Pot" like Martial art :) There is a resent claimed that martial art called Nhat Nam is the pure Vietnamese Martial Art and it is very interesting to look at. I learn Boxing & i am a Viet

  • Vovinam is the 1 in the hundreds Martial arts of Vietnam

Vovinam born in 1938 but Vietnam's Martial arts have thousands years old

but the master don't teach without permission for student => they thinks Vietnam have only VoVinam

  • haha dam kid ur good

  • oh, ddep qua!! Bài quyên này tên gi vay?? Làm on xin cho biet.

  • is these wushu ?...... tell me about these

  • super vovietnam

    merci

  • Wow this little dude is awesome, really cool, keep up the good work.

  • Vovinam is a combination of the modern + ancient Viet Martial Arts + some of the world famous Martial Art like Karate, Judo, Teakwondo, ect...

  • Vovinam is a northern style of vietnamese martial art that incorporates grappling and acrobatic elements as well as some elements of Shaolin and (to a lesser degree) Taekwondo.

Binh Dinh is usually characterised by deeper stances and quite a different techinique. The origins of Binh Dinh are quite different to that of Vovinam. Viet Vo Dao would be more of an accurate collective term for Vietnamese martial arts.

  • This unmistakeably authentic binh dinh. Strong style with many low stances. Distinct form Shaolin.

  • vo binh dinh pro that.. ko che^ vao dau dc

  • i like how he does it slow enough for me to imitate.

  • wow, cute and awesome.

  • This is Binh Dinh, I used to study this, my skill is kinda rusty now, haven't done any practice lately :).. But I still can kick some azz with the stick...

  • The Chinese is a little conservative just like the English considering aspect of martial art. The Vietnamese always feel happy to adopt foreign good things that Chinese martial art is among. Vietnamese traditional martial art that adopt some good things from sanda is really much better than chinese sanda. In Vietnam from the past to now, there have seen hundreds of Artists kill tigers.

  • What school is this? who is the Master of the school?.

  • This little kid is something else, if he keeps up his practice into adulthood he's gonna be a real tuff little fighter.

  • I got the same staff.

  • that kids impressive..cant we all just get along

  • A Human Being got 2 hands & 2 legs, so no matter what tried you do, there will be some similarity looks in their forms. Sometime things may looks similar but that doesnt mean they came from the same root. For everyone that think VN came from China is dead wrong and ignorance. VN and China are two differences race and country. China took over VN for 1000 years, that dosnt mean VN & China were related. Ex; Mexican speaks Spanish, does that Mean Mexico came from the Spain?

  • exactly...what people do not really know is that they may say 1000 years of chinese occupation. but its like 200 years, then the vietnamese freedom fighters regain control of the country for a certain period of time. then the chinese push back the freedom fighter and take control for another period of time. then more vietnamese freedom fighters arise and take control of the country. this occurs numerous times for 1000 years. so it was not really a continuous 1000 year of Chinese control.

  • There's a great deal of cultural sharing in the region, as there is in any large region. That's not a bad thing, and it may mean China borrows some of VN's ideas also. Thieu lam, I can confirm, is derived from Chinese Shaolin, and the name (according to my VN friends) literally translates back to what Shaolin means (probably new forest).

For those of you in VN at the moment, I'd encourage you to visit Master Hai in Cho Lon/Saigon. He's the most prominent Thieu lam teacher in Saigon.

  • @TheDoom13 ahhahaha i am suprise you filthy Viet are everyhwere defending your shitty country to look tough isn't it.

how many times have i told you, we built the Forbidden City by ourselft . you didn't learn nothing but a ghost history from your mate

  • @Jiexiao44 lol read again u idiot!! The only thing that u Chinese dogs good at is copying, stealing and being an inhuman dog.

  • Супер

  • Nice vid!

  • i love bo fighting

  • excuse me, but from your nick and your comment, i guess you're chinese.

  • this kid is even better than me. He could beat me, actually.

  • yeah! he's really good, yellow belt is impressive! :)

  • The biological aspects don't say anything. Biologically, humans are mostly the same. It is the CULTURE (nationality and language) that counts. If a man speak Vietnamese as his first language, even if his parents or grandparents were from China, he is truly Vietnamese. My friend is Chinese Vietnamese, but he loves Vietnam and hates China. So u can't claim that because there are a lot of Chinese Vietnamese, Vietnamese culture is a subgroup of Chinese culture.

  • well, there is actually no PURE culture in this world. Through the process of social revolution, every culture in this world is more or less mixed with others, and normally that combination is interrelating. Chinese culture has been mixed with mostly that of India and Mongol; Korean with that of China and Japan; and Japanese with that of China, Korea and Mongol. But they still claim their cultures unique. So why CAN'T Vietnamese?

  • i could do better!!

  • Do you even know the meaning of "Barbarians"? Its ironic that you call other "Barbarians" while the description seem to fit your ppl

Copy? Who is best known for copying stuff? Ever heard of "knock-off" items made in china? How about exporting poisoned baby food and pharmaceutical goods etc...?

I got nothing against chinese ppl but every now n then I would see a dump-ass like yourself on youtube so I got to give you a piece of my mind. Ur a 31 yrs old so act like one. Be civilized to others.

  • @lpthesnake Viet gook barking agian

  • @Jiexiao44 you want an ass whooping?? just like your loser grand father and great grand father whom get their asses whooped by us??

  • @Jiexiao44 you want an ass whooping?? just like your loser grand father and great grand father whom get their asses whooped by us??

  • @Jiexiao44 u hate vietnamese right?? u hate vietnamese culture right?? then stop watching vietnamese videos!!! Vietnam is next to china, and it is also natural that we are influenced by you or you us. It is not our fault!

so go back to china!!! ur not welcome in Vietnam!!!

  • There were other talented Vietnamese that helped building your chinese empire but their names were hidden or never mentioned because you don't want the world to know.

You didn't invent the cross-bow but you still took credits for it.

MA was brought to china by an Indian monk and you learned it then claimed it yours.

I'm sure you chinese stole a lot of things or inventions from your neighbors (Korea, Tibet, India n Japan) n claimed them to be yours too.

  • you're right, Shaolin martial art, the so-called "Daddy of Chinese martial arts", actually came from India. And who knows if all of those kicking techniques in Chinese MA were taken from Korean ancient Taekwondo or not. The Chinese are good at hiding the truth. Even now a moderate Chinese student doesn't know that China invaded Vietnam for 1000 years.

  • Comment removed

  • @lpthesnake who invented the cross-bow ?

  • Who designed and built the forbidden kingdom that you chinese are proud of today?

Nguyen An, a Vietnamese who was a "Chief Architect" of the project. It's ashame that your ppl never gave him credits 4 wat he did for your nation.

Who did you chinese ppl worshiped and called "God of Firearms"?

Ho Nguyen Trung, a Vietnamese who designed and made firearms for the Ming dynasty. Without his firearms technology, you chinese would had been raped again by the Mongols.

  • actually, the importance of firearm is not only within China, but also to the world. The first Eurpeans came to China and brought the firearm technology back to their home countries. It was those technologies that changed the hitory of mankind (colonism and modern warfare).

  • @lpthesnake

    i agree with you

  • hey xingy if you dont like the vid then dont post a comment so donnt be a hater by the way i take the ba barian comment offensively

  • we Vietnamese has something the Chinese doesn't have "Nước Mắm" With this weapon we have push back the Chinese for trying to colonize

Nước Mắm kicked the Xì Dầu ass big time. The Viet governement also sent Nước Mắm into space back in 1964 on board with the Russian space ship.

  • It's so cool ! I like this video very much !

  • My favorite weapon, the bo staff. I plan to continue lessons when I get the money.

  • good job

  • GO VIETNAM THAT KID IS COOL

  • sweet this reminds me of kung-fu in a vietnaenes way cool.

  • cool

  • nice A+++

  • Wow, Very Nice!

  • is vovinam and vietnamese martial arts the same? or am i mistaken...

  • Vovinam is a style of Viet MA. There are many styles of Viet MA. In the central Vietnamese region of Binh Dinh, there are many family styles. This is just one of the styles.

  • @stevOmate101 Vovinam is a combination of the modern + ancient Viet Martial Arts + some of the world famous Martial Art like Karate, Judo, Teakwondo, ect...

  • @stevOmate101

because of how ambiguous the name itself is. vovinam = martial arts of vietnam or the synthetic style thats named under it. when someone said their style is vo vietnam(sounds alittle like vovinam) they basically saying vietnamese martial arts.

  • bài côn này có tên là gì vậy bạn, rất đẹp mắt, mình muốn học được bài này, vui lòng cho biết tên bài này đi bạn !

  • OMG! hes like 5

  • helo. nice staff and great vid and matial art

  • I've got to say, what an interesting form. I prefer the fancier more complex styles. They open your mind and body movements to express any motion you please. Why learn to strike the same way over and over? It's not like someone will stand in your exact target area all the time lol. Martial arts is about fluent movements and oneness with yourself as a whole. IMO lol. Great Vid!!! I will borrow a few moves >.> *bows*

  • Hello friends and fans,

Thank you so much for watching and highly-rating these series of three video clips I uploaded. I am glad I did what little I could to help spread Viet martial arts on youtube and the web.

These clips came from a much longer VHS with other adults performing on there. I got the permission to post these three clips only. So sorry I don't have more contents for you!

The style of Martial Arts demonstrated in these clips is a branch of Vo Binh Dinh, not Vovinam

  • Im in Martial Arts:) cool. im a brown belt almost black. u guys should try it it is so fun.

  • nice stick form, i like it

but maybe a little too long. i think it would be hard to remember and i would probably mix it up all the time

un less thats the only staff form in that style :)

  • Very nice to see! I study That Son Than Voa Dao and That Son Than Quyen, (a Vietnamese Kung Fu) sorry I do not know how to make the appropriate accent marks above/ below the letters. Your staff form and ours is very, very similar, and it was nice to see some thing so close to my style on youtube! keep it up.

  • HAI QUA!!

  • kick-ass!

  • this is great it looks bit fancy but i feel really combat aplication i that

remindes my escrima fancy too bud dadly

    cool! keep on going

  • webzanboy go to wikipedia and search for vovinam sorry for my poor english

  • Sorry, why do I need to do that?

I am a Vovinam student (blue III).

  • very impressive!!!

  • Whatever its called and from, I'm impressed to finally see something really different with the staff/Pole for a change and thats rare on YOUTUBE. I've been in martial arts for over 30 years and many styles its nice to see something new for a change.

  • Very good traditional form. some people claim this to be VoviNam but its pure Binh Dinh. I studied Binh Dinh and also Kungfu/Wushu. I know alot of family members studyied VoviNam so I know what it look like. VoviNam is 80% TKD and 20% mix kungfu where Binh Dinh is 80% kungfu. It is design for combat and to kill, no fansy kicks just hand stickes and elbows.

  • What!? "Vovinam is 80% TKD" You are really wrong there my friend.

I can understand why, reason being Vovinam nowadays is becoming more of a sport. In doing so a lot of techniques are either changed/removed for safety/competition reasons. So it ends up like Taekwondo or Muay Thai without knee and elbow.

Traditionally, in Vovinam you learn to kick, punch, elbow, knee, wrestle, lock & break, aerial and weaponry.

  • Vovinam is a modern versus of vietnamese martial art. Vietnamese traditional martial arts are divided into two main categories: sino-vietnamese (e.g. vo thieu lam) and vietnamese that was created in the 14th centuries(some chinese influences can be noticed due to multiple envasions during history) i.e. vo binh dinh. sorry for my poor english...

  • if u r smart u would study more, vovinam is not 80% TKD, becuz vovinam is invented before tae kwon do, vovinam is invented in 1930, tae kwon do invented in 1975, do ur research dude

  • なんていうカメラワークだ

  • the kid skills is top!!!!

  • cool it looks like a shaolin derivitive. a monk must have moved down there and started something!

  • So does anyone know how to find these guys???

  • Vovinam is kooler then i thought. I do tae-kwon-do

  • Its not Vovinam I think. I wrote Binh Dinh into youtube, and then gave it to me.

  • I'm a viet and I have a great taste for martial arts.

  • That is one active kid!=)

  • hay r u shure its not a veit guy doing wushu?

  • pretty good :)

  • is it me or is he a yellow belt? wow at his age... i mean just asuming this is vo vinam since yellow is the black in vo vinam

  • forget what i said.. im in idiot

  • very nice but 80% kung fu.

  • kung fu has no sticks dumbass, that's shaolin, and it is not 80% kung fu, it's all Viet Vo Dao

  • thank you for your reply.

  • great reply to his reply. nice to see someone with some manners with all these keyboard warriors around

  • yup. it's just shocking how people nowadays can easily curse and throw bad remarks at other people esp. on the net. let's keep our manners and be normal people, after all we live in a "civilized" modern world. ^_^

  • Viet Vo Dao does share some similarities with chinese martial arts. Besides shaolin, kung fu does have stick fighting as well. Go do some research n u will know

  • Wow, your statement exudes ignorance mrtuckeverlasting. You might want to read up on history and cultural anthropology a bit more. Especially the concept of diffusion, perhaps then you will be able to understand that there are a lot of things Chinese borrowed from other culture and claimed it their own.

  • thank you! excuse my ignorance.

  • You are excused.

  • thanks! the vietnamese are such friendly people! ^_^

  • I'm speaking for myself, not for my entire ethnicity, yes I can be very friendly and hospitable. You, mrtuckeverlasting, sadly, doesn't deserve any hospitality.

  • thanks! ^_^

  • it's okay. im not asking for hospitality from you. i was a volunteer in a vietnamese refugee camp back in high school. that time your country was torn by civil war. i have met a lot of old folks back then. they were nice to me and me to them. sadly they were returned by the governments back. i just wonder how the young ones now are so hostile and so profound especially in the internet.

  • I would say youth in general are hostile in present day. Again, mrtuckeverlasting, with your original statement, you couldn't have expected the red carpet treatment did you? I will agree with you on the rampant usage of profanity on the net these days though. I'm gonna end this conversation here. Have a good time, perhaps next time, our conversation doesn't have to take on this tone.

    Chao ong.

  • well said. thank you! have a good day too.

  • Viet pride all the way!!

  • Proud Viet

  • damn, looks like he's dancing through these techniques, so smooth and still have the power, the best I have ever seen

  • dose eny1 think i could studie this and learn it? jw?

  • It's not a big and known martial art outside of Vietnam. There's a place in Sweden where you can practice it(I study there), but I don't know of any other places in the world except Vietnam... of course there has to be some.

  • Looks like I have a lot more studying to do about Vietnam

  • this boy is so cute

  • Good form.

    Good moves

  • Pro Pro

  • beautiful form. he's really good

  • VIET PRIDE!!! DUMA!!

  • lol

  • this boy is realy realy good for his age :}

  • what are you talking about... he should of learned it when he was 2

  • Two years old can't do this! Plus, depends on when he starts.

  • what are you talking about... we are vietnamese, we are born with the ability to fight

  • preach on my Viet Brother!! preach on!!!

  • just to tell u i go to vo binh dinh and those kinda stick weigh at least 2-4 pounds >.> their dense and hurt when added force into it trust me xD

  • what that little toth pick gone do to any 1

  • i'm defentaly learning this bo form

  • haha.. really good.. damn fast speed

  • can you send me this?

  • ooo pretty form

  • ah probably it's Vo Co Truyen, not Vovinam, they are the only one who wear black. Vovinamers only wear blue.

  • black representing water ^^

  • It's either Vovinam or Bi`nhdi.nh

  • Excellent form and performance. Any more ? What is the name of this form and its origin. Thanks for posting.

  • wow so smooth
