  • lol I love this song but I was never able to play 1:09 fast enough :(

    (clarinet players are bosses)

  • amazing song. Especially the lower brass part at 1:08

  • I'm playing this on the Piccolo so I only hope you can understand how painful it is to play the part at 1:09. And don't even get me started on the high Ab and Bb!

  • im playing this for UIL, we dont get that quiet -_-

  • We're playing this song this year for festival in my school's Symphonic band and we have a playing test over the flutes and clarinets 'hard part', it's really nice hearing what it should sound like. You did a terrific job

  • *just an orchestra, I mean, not a "Wind Orchestra".

  • @MissNorwegian No strings in a Wind ensemble :) Otherwise, it's an orchestra.

  • well this seems fun i mean im only playing the snare drum as a 13 year old 8th grader 0_0 o well i no i can do it :)

  • @pokemonmonkey24 Im in 8th grade too and we are playing it and the snare is very hard T-T

  • I can't hear the strings. Beautifully played though.

  • My band played this last year, this year we're playing movement 2 and 3

  • 0:00

  • Thumbs up if you love this song

  • Im a freshman!!! haah and we r playing this this year! it is my fav song so far. I love playing viola!

  • One word....Beautiful!!!! I truely love this song. I'm a freshman and we are playing this in our band.

  • I'm playing this in my band...I have the 1st clarinet part. well soon to be solo, because I'm the only Clarinet in the whole band. Scheduling complications. :\ But I love this song! :)

  • I played this in 7th grade!!

  • I'm a freshman in marching band/symphonic band and we have to play a whole bunch of sections for tryouts to see who sits where. And one of the parts is 65 to 81 which is the crazy part. I'm really having trouble it :( I'm totally screwed.

  • @theUNfamousable i have to play this for my exam! i know exacty how you feel i have no idea what to do -__- trumpet part is hard!

  • @theUNfamousable I feel your pain; I have to do that part for my midterm exams in band. It sucks because of all the high notes! >-<

  • Freshman flute playing this for districts. Love it. That one crazy part is epic

  • Haha, my concert band played this my junior year of high school. Ah memories.

  • I'll be playing this suite in an orchestra next saturday. Such a wonderful suite - thanks for uploading!

  • The flute part at 65 is beast.. just sayin.

  • I'm a sophmore and we are playing this in our concert on friday. I play the flute but I have to say that the low brass is where it's at for this piece.

  • ........the piccolo part ugggggggghhhhhhhhhh

  • Can I put this on an infinite loop?

  • the piccolo part makes me DIE

  • flutes and clarinets have a challenging part that takes a long time to get right...GOOD JOB

  • @goldenguygm ii am a clarinet and its quite hard for me. but its a nice song!!!

  • @ilhorses101 I'm a flutist and this is a bit difficult for me as well xD

But I agree, it is nice.

  • @goldenguygm Oboes do too...good job oboe! :)

  • TUBA ALL THE WAY

  • Flutes are freaking awesome! it takes skill to do all that fluttery crazyness!

  • their tuba player[s] are incredible during the low brass part.

  • @iseefurtherthanyou tubas, euphs and trombones :)

  • FLUTES ROCK! ESPECIALLY FROM 1:07 TO 2:13 FLUTE EPICNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @RosalynM5 The clarinets are doing that too...

  • Oh god the super cool fast part. Fuck yea, flutes!!! And low brass and trumpet parts fit well, but our part is better :D

  • GO TENORS!

  • ugh eastman is so good. i'm so jelly.

  • played this in my senior year, love the low brass part, deep, powerful, and serious and yet cool

  • I played this my freshman year, i am now a junior. I really enjoyed playing the trombone part. LOW BRASS!

  • +1 for being a trumpet and always getting the cool melodies! :D

  • @tnoe91 and shouldnt this solo go to the trumpet? thats whats written in the music

  • Flute part was fun for this, especially at measure 65 (the fast part), haha

  • Euphonium part on this is stupidly low at times

    Still an amazing piece though!!!

  • High School band = great times for me. I miss them. :c

  • hey Clarinets have the hard part when it gets faster also ._. thx guys lol...

  • @BLKusanagi i know, clarinets are under-appreciated >:{

  • Spring concert '09 as a freshman, played all 3 parts of this, and the acention(divine comedy) on 1st trumpet...best concert ever

  • @ 1:07 - 2:12 is the hardest part to play on flute.. LOTS of practice practice practice!!! :P you practically die by the time you finish -___-

  • @Deppfan186 OH MY GOSH I KNOW! Just received this song.....almost died! ><'' BUT THIS IS SONG REALLY FUN TO PLAY!!! :D I love it sooooo much! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Deppfan186

I've played that on clarinet, and it's a bugger.

  • i miss baaaaaaaaaand x.x

  • sounds easy to play, but in reality its a hard piece to make sound so effective. As a euphonium player, i have to make sure that my dynamics are so precise, and the style of how i play it. If played well, this is such a glorious piece of music

  • 1st clarinet part and e flat clarinet were the best part of the whole song

  • GOSH HOW I LOVE THE LOW BRASS SECTION :D

  • wheeee band geeks rule XD im one too

  • I love this music, by far my favorite piece i have played in high school and we just got the music 2 weeks ago, the only thing about it is that at 1:10 in my band, the trombones and baritone/euphonium (thats what i play) just dominated the whole band. that will most likely change as we practice but its still a great piece.

  • @MrXmorc That's when it sounds best :P In my band the Low Brasses are gods but the higher the instrument gets the worse they play...

  • Comment removed

  • So Slow...

  • holy crap i didnt even know flutes did that at 1:10

  • @fpandoy It was horrifying to sight-read. x_x

  • @PocketSizedOwlHikari man respect to flute players i think they have the hardest music

  • Played this on e-flat clarinet... D: I'd love to play this again, just on the contra-alto clarinet part. :)

  • @MrCG35 Me too, except not the super low Eb but the super tiny, squeaky Eb.

  • Tuba Dominates. I would know, I play it for 7 years and continuing.

  • @TheTubaplayer20 I play bass-trombone myself, been playing for 7 years aswell :D

    Bass-trombone... nuff said :)

  • @TheTubaplayer20 As your username implies.

  • I play only the first. I played the alto clarinet part on alto sax. It's not hard

  • @speedboosty101 I played the alto clarinet part on the alto clarinet! Almost twins!

  • TUBA POWER!!!!! :)

  • epic 1:09

  • I loved playing this when Im was in the Kingsmen.

  • @otsuiki Hear much!

I remember in high school. Thats what you said, GOOGLE TRANSLATE FTW.

  • YAY LOW BRASS!!!!! :))

  • @baritoneman10 amen

  • Wow....the Eastman Wind Ensemble isn't what it used to be.....BAD intonation issues, clarity issues, tempo issues..and what...CRACKED NOTES IN THE BRASS?? Come on, Eastman, get it together, there are high school bands all over the country that play this much better.

  • Comment removed

  • @michaellangston53 This is the Eastman Wind Orchestra not the Eastman Wind Ensemble. The wind orchestra is composed of freshman and sophomores as opposed to the wind ensemble which is composed of juniors seniors and graduate students. This was the first concert at Eastman for most of these performers.

Also, you must be hearing some very good high school bands.

  • this is so hot.

    seriously, it's amazing.

  • the trumpet does have the solo.

  • I'm playing this in band at my skool!! gonna play it at a music fest :)

  • The trumpet should have the solo. Brass always dominate marches.

  • @northpoint35

Obviously you've never seen a horn part for an American march.

  • 6/8 part= :D

  • I like the tempo actually. The lower brass gets to show off their tone and control.

  • My band director hasn't specified whether the solo should be played by our trumpet player or I, the clarinet player so we've been playing it as a duet which doesn't sound very appealing to me :/ I prefer how it sounds on the clarinet, but i don't want to seem like a jerk and ask the director to just give me the solo.

  • @woodwinds4ever GAH! When I played this piece, our director made me share it with a trumpet player. But I wanted the limelight all to myself! D:< I hope you get the chance to play it as a clarinet solo. Do it for me!

  • can also be a trumpet solo, which it should be

  • Insanely fun to play and its not that hard to play. CLARINETS FTW :)

  • @woodwinds4ever It took me a little while to get the clarinet part down where it goes into the fast part because it was hard to find a spot to breathe but with staggered breathing my clarinet section was able to completely own this song :)

  • Amazing clarinet solo(:

  • i think the brass need to back off during the first time through the sex eight section, and then the second time come out, for contrast, but dang! i love this piece!

  • @toknywpie130 Yeah, that's what our director thought a few years ago. xD Deee-efinately let the woodwinds show off a bit, and let the brass come in and PUNCH IT OUT second time through.

Maybe suggest it to your director or something. It worked well!

  • @toknywpie130 sex eight lol

  • In my band we're playing only the 2nd and 3rd movement of this suite because this one was too hard and our concert is soon.

  • i love the clarinet solo:D

  • Low brass ftw <3

  • this so needs to be faster.

  • want that clarinet solo so bad >.< gonna make my director let us play this song next year :P

  • Triangle FTW

  • @mpjmt haha lol ur said brother

  • Songs like this make me love being a trombone player!

  • go low brass. whooooo!

  • :) I love this song and it's awesomeness!

  • i love this piece! i play the clarinet. not in this particular band but we r playing it right now and it sounds awesome. coming along great!

  • (Instrument I play here) PWNS ALL

  • Im playing this in class and im the only trombone but it sounds amazing and i cover for most of the low brass

  • Cymbals all the way!!!!!!

  • I play trumpet, but i give credit to those flute players.

  • @Country95TV

noo, use flutes have it hard, especially at bar 65-90

  • @DreamRoseAngel thats why i said i give credit to you! lol

  • @Country95TV And piccolo and clarinets. :)

  • Yeah 6/8 POWER! I played it on the snare drum freaking amazing, because the melody plays like 2/2... love this piece!

  • I'm playing this on Flute right now but I played it on Bassoon before. It was amazing.

Don't ever underestimate someone who can go high on a piccolo and low on a bassoon XD

  • I remember myself suffering for getting this part. I had only a year learning flute and at the next year at the band we had to perform this. Nowadays, it could be easier for me

  • wait.... french horns? haha

the winners of music right therr

  • Is it just me or does the woodwind 6/8 sound out of tune?

  • @mozartmaniac1 its just you, sounds great

  • any body have the trumpet sheet music for this piece? if so, please message me and i'll give you my e-mail to pass it on. thank you.

  • @carlocortez227 I have the 1st cornet part

  • I played this movement with my string ensemble. This definetly brings back fond memories ^_^

  • Dont forget the low wood winds! go bassoons! Represent!

  • Playing all three movements makes me want to kill myself. :(

  • i play the alto i just started i have a hard time with this piece

  • playing this song on bass clarinet is a lot of fun i love it

  • Take me back to high school! I want to play this again!

  • We are playing this in Freshman band and it seems impossible to get some parts down on my Flute, more like it should be played by our Wind Ensemble.

  • @YliME7411 im in eighth grade and i feel very comfortable with this piece. my suggestion is to practice, practice, practice, and practice. play it slow first and get the fingerings down, then speed it up.

  • Comment removed

  • We're playing this is Wind Ensemble, and I actually REALLY like it. The 6/8 section is pretty fun on piccolo. :D

  • @kimhateselephants calhoun?

  • @kimhateselephants i'm playing it on piccolo, too. :D

    it's fun except for the fact that my ear rings after i play the 6/8 section. D;

  • @UmmThatsGheyyGee I play piccolo too! I kind of wanted to kill myself during that section, there's NOWHERE to breathe!!

  • @ebeniston I KNOW!! :c

and i don't like that it has a repeat in that section. ><

  • UGH I KNOW!!!!!! SO annoying!

  • at 1:09 is the epic awesome part! My favorite part! but I love the song in general! :D

  • I like the song, but I hav to play the first clarinettttt!!! Its supa hard ><

  • @KaulitzEyes i got second for it cause i'm with older people :D

  • @yorkiebaby411 Im really on 3rd part, but we all have to play 1st for the audition :( Im sooooo scared!!!!! ><

  • @KaulitzEyes you'll be fine!! just practice the eight notes section!!

  • @KaulitzEyes just sight-reading 1st clarinet was a paaiiiinnnnn D: I feel for you.

  • I've listened to this song a ton, and performed it with my band, I was always focused on the woodwind part at the 6/8 that I never listened to the brass. It's amazing! I love Vaughan Williams, one of my favorite composers. He knows how to make an impression, that's for sure :)

  • i though the 6/8 part of the wood winds is the hrmony and the brass is the Melody

  • The clarinet part rocks!!!!

  • the six-eight part is a killer on clarinet =.=

    i love the clarinet/flute/trumpet solo bit near the end. :}

  • the six-eight part is a killer on clarinet =.=

    i love the clarinet/flute/trumpet solo bit near the end. :}

  • Oh man I abused the replay

  • I loved playing the viola part to this in my orchestra!

  • Low brass FTW! and this is coming from a flutist!

  • The middle part was evil on flute!

  • @Obsessionoftheweek its actually not that bad, just high

  • @Obsessionoftheweek ohhhh but its so fun on snare!

  • I either played this or heard other bands play it every year in high school. I think I could still play it from memory 25 years later.

  • i play third trombone and we did this song

    SO MUCH FUN

  • @mrswb I'm trying to play String Bass with it. No so much fun.

  • @darknessm I play the bass part in this too... it's hard, but it's easier than something like Holst's Moorside Suite. And at least here you get the melody stuff.

  • Percussion on this song is fun as hell

  • Must also say: LOW BRASS!!! WOOT!

  • haha, i love how the low bass part is written in the trumpet part, so when i wasnt playing the solo trumpet part for the hellish woodwind/amazing low brass part, i was trying so hard to rock out with the low brass..

  • love the song, bass trombone best part that i play

  • I remember playing this...it was so much fun. but 1:08-2:13 was hell for us flutes

  • @loopy6idol2 yeah, you're right! it's the hell and we have to play it even faster i think. but it's just so cool

  • Playin the flute :)

  • Best part is 1:08 - 2:15

  • @EasyBacon Totally represents the power of the once British Empire...I was born too late! :(

  • @nick4uuk At least you now have antibiotics and the internet instead.

  • @EasyBacon flute solo! that part killed me when i played it. I had to practice it sooooo much to get it right. And I'm a boy for those of you who think the flute is a girly instrument O.O

yeah i know i'm seven months late

  • @chessicles99

I don't think there's a flute solo in this movement...or this whole piece. There's a piccolo solo in the second movement.

And flute isn't a girly instrument...

  • @dorkfaceflutexo yeah i know its not much of a solo, but its a fast and in my opinion important part about the piece. i dunno. And the "im a boy for blablabla" was intended for those who THINK the flute is a girly instrument, which clearly you dont :) But people really think that the flute is for girls o.O

  • i absolutely love this song because we played it in band :) im not too sure what it is but it makes me fall asleep like a lullyby.... not in a bad way its just soooo relaxing to me

  • i love this piece! except i played the orchestral one with my youth orchestra and it's so much fun!
