Lifting off the throttle doesnt automatically give the car grip. The weight of the vehicle will head in the direction it is already heading, not where you point your wheels.

If you gradually lift off the power and counter steer it will straighten up. Key word : Gradually. Your controlling the weight shift, not the direction.

If you cant steer out of a slide you shouldnt be driving.

You simply cant compare low speed driving to high speed driving.

Lets consider medium to low speeds, say 40mph. If you steer sharply, you get bodyroll. You get bodyroll because you steer right, but the weight of the vehicle still wants to go straight on. If your tyres have no grip, for example when on ice, you will go straight on, no matter what your tyres do, and how much throttle you use.

ice is a diffrent situation...and low speeds? i was doing 70 mph when a deer ran infront of me i swerved to the left then tried to counter steer and then i ended up in the ditch... but when i was fishtailing with my mercedes and lost control for a few seconds i let go of the gas and the rear end went right back into place i got control back.

That wasn't a driving mistake. His engine quit under throttle making the rear end immediately very light (weight transfers to the front wheels when you let off the throttle). Glad the wall wasn't concrete!

I do not agree... crashing was a driving mistake... he locked up the brakes, the front wheels are not facing in the right direction. If as you say the weight transfer makes the rear very light, he would have had good control with the front wheels... he just got scared or was not used to lose control of a car.

You don't turn much do you? A drag car is not built to handle well during deceleration. The front would have INFINITE traction and the rear would feel like it was on ice. Also the engine shifted when it failed causing the nose to dive down in one direction leading to the car steering to the right. He only locked up after the car was sideways which is understandable.
