Samaras is a good player. He isnt great but from a scale of 1 to 10 he is a 6, and 6 isnt good enough for a premiere league team such as Man City. A team like Man City that has players like Tevez, Balotelli and Gareth Barry cannot use players like Samaras, he is just not good enough. However, Samaras is still young and with years I bet that he will become on of the best strikers in the SPL. Thats why Celtic is not going to let him anytime soon.

@mcxios i think with Samaras it's always been about natural ability and raw talent, of which he has an abundance, as much as many players on City or other highly placed EPL teams i'd say.. the problem with Samaras has been unlocking that talent and translating it onto the pitch... for some reason, he hasn't been able to do it, even though most people know the talent is there.. i think that's partially the reason why so many of his own teams' supporters have been so frustrated with him...

I just think he's a raw talent that finally starting to take shape. He would do much better in La Liga or Serie A than the Prem for instance because the style doesn't suit him. Look at Benjani for instance, I've got more natural talent in my left testical, but his physical attributes suit the Prem and he's still with you. He'd be shit in Italy though.

Player develop at various ages. Henry didn't start really becoming a top player til he was 23, Ian Wright wasn't even a pro til 22. Samaras has been great this season so he's taking shape. I'm not saying he's top class, but he's good. mid-table Prem team level. Sheva was amazing though, when he went to the Prem he was way past his best. As for Serie A now, it's no different now than the Premiership was 10 years ago in terms of level. In terms of style it's more technical rather than dynamic.

Yes he was lazy & slow but he's improved alot athletically. Going from the Erivedise to the Prem is a big step up, not just technically but physically too. Samaras made a great start averaging just under 1 goal in ever 2 games in his first season for u. In his 2nd season his confidence fell. To be fair you had a terrible team too & the service he got was also poor. He's improved alot at Celtic though & he's also started making the Greece team, whereas back then he was barely in the Greece squad.
