These diesles emit NO SMELL, and NO rattle rattle. I own a New X5, watch my Video, I start it will recording and if I didnt show the Tach, youd never know its running. If I had unlimited money for gas, Id buy a V8 bmw just for sound, but this diesel is BADASS, I agree, go test drive one
oh wow... u act like americans have no idea wut a diesel is... hey europeans... pull ure fucking head out of your own ass and get over it... average americans dont give a FUCK about you, yet you spend everyday talking shit on us
im tired of the bullshit.... come on down to houston tx and see if i fit the bill of your fat, lazy, and stupid american.... just bcuz i cant point out kazakistaniopia on a fucking world map does not make me stupid..... anyway..... peace
The sportiest diesels I've ever seen. The only noise sounds like a powerful sports car, not a noisy diesel. (Not that I don't like the normal diesel sound, too.)
Finally, someone is right. Diesels sometimes have more visible smoke, but generally not. Even so, diesels still pollute less. They are possibly more noisy, but who cares. Diesels are the way to go; they are cleaner than gasoline and they need less maintaining and last longer and are more reliable. They generally go 30% farther per gallon, thus giving them often better gas mileage than gas hybrids. What we need is a diesel hybrid.
So what if they go farther per gallon? It just means that diesel is more energy dense. Only those obsessed with MPG would be fooled by high MPG ratings. The only thing that matters is total cost.
"Trade off" means you have to compromise on something or not have it, in order to have something else.
In this context there's no trade off because even with the lower fuel consumption, there is no compromise on performance, noise or convenience compared to a gasoline model.
bmw copied active cruise control from LEXUS LS460...what the hell is this dude talking about... the lexus even scans the LINEs on the road and turns the stering wheel...and also scans your eyes to make sure your not falling a sleep... everyone copies LEXUS...same with the backup camera...another lexus idea
How can BMW copied from the LS460 when the E92 and the 5 series has come on the market 2 years before the LS460.And by the way Lexus copies everything from the S-class.
Diesels are dirty, bad for the environment, slow, noisy and Hybrid's are the way to go, blah, blah, blah. ... AMERICANS are retarded for not adopting the diesel (turbo diesel) fifteen years ago!
What a excellent post thank you all very much. I have a diesil Astra 1.9CDTI which has 211BHP and it flys along. Great to drive with a 0-60MPH in only 7 seconds. The noise level is good and the MPG`s is 47 per gallon. So power, speed, performance and very economical. What more do you want. The new range of diesel cars are by far the way to go.
here in the netherlands (probably also the rest of europe) about 30% of all cars sold are diesels. Even the cheaper, more common diesels (like a VW or a volvo) are a good match to their petrol equivalents. Didn't know that there are no diesels in the us yet....
I'm impressed with the BMW with its power and economy, and reliability, too. It's better than hybrids...for now. I still like hybrids but they're still in its infancy. A diesel hybrid is closer to being out of gasoline than a conventional.
diesel has many advantages, i prefer petrol powered cars though.

41.5 MPG for the touring. Nuff said. Who cares about the knock at low speed? I love that sound!
Streetracingpunk72 2 years ago 4
are you joking. diesel knock at low speeds is so annoying. It's like you are driving a tractor.
viktord1 2 years ago
Who cares what the MPG is? It's meaningless! What matters is cost per distance. BTW, diesel fumes stink!
thingsdemystified 2 years ago
Nowhere as much as gasoline fumes.

yea that's true. diesel only pollute more NOx but everything else is far less than petrol.
