Well that's direct democracy it's a different form of democracy, the Swiss have it. It's very difficult to implement because whenever you want to change anything you have to ask the people directly, you'd find that in a country of 300 million people that it would be very hard to implement, nothing would ever get done. They used it in Ancient Athens aswell but with a population of about 50,000. Changes need to be made but it's just not feasable to have direct democracy in America.

i dont think there is an exact science on how to spark the economy. i think for the most part. people will some how have to feel comfortable about the market again and start spending money. one thing for sure is. this recession will weed out the weak companys. and make room for new one's in the future. cleansing itself in a way.
I think we can learn from history though. If you look back on what happened in the 1930's both Hoover and Roosevelt tried to spend our way out of the depression by doing basically the same thing we are doin in this current stimulus package. It only succeeded on lengthening the depression. In the mid 90's when Japan's economy collapsed they also tried to spend their way out of the recession and it only ended up lengthening it. They still haven't fully recovered.

Well that's direct democracy it's a different form of democracy, the Swiss have it. It's very difficult to implement because whenever you want to change anything you have to ask the people directly, you'd find that in a country of 300 million people that it would be very hard to implement, nothing would ever get done. They used it in Ancient Athens aswell but with a population of about 50,000. Changes need to be made but it's just not feasable to have direct democracy in America.

People in Europe didn't like him because he stood up to Europe and didn't let them dictate what actions we had to take. In the US it actually became cool to hate him. Yep, Bush was never a true conservative. He taxed like a conservative but spent like a Liberal. Obama is doing the same thing, he wants to up taxes but he knows that he can't without completely destroying the economy yet he still wants to spend like crazy. Short term and immediate stimulus is what the economy needs right now but they are looking at more long term programs and a lot of programs that won't even take effect until mid to lat 2010. We are screwed and I think it is Congress' fault.

I think we can learn from history though. If you look back on what happened in the 1930's both Hoover and Roosevelt tried to spend our way out of the depression by doing basically the same thing we are doin in this current stimulus package. It only succeeded on lengthening the depression. In the mid 90's when Japan's economy collapsed they also tried to spend their way out of the recession and it only ended up lengthening it. They still haven't fully recovered.

The majority of conservatives - the normal, every day Americans who you DON'T see in the media - are not racists OR ignorant. We voted against Obama because we disagree with him ideologically, not because he's black. And I support him as president of this great country because I believe in our system of democracy. Tell that to these protesters who never acknowledged the positive things Bush accomplished.

The character limit will keep me from fully going into any of this, but to start with, we haven't had a single terrorist attack on our country since 9/11. As for failing to find WMD after every international intelligence source said that there were WMD? He (and our allies) acted on intel and as a result, a horrible regime has been removed from power. Yes, it's a mess, but he had to act. As for our economy, how can the executive branch be blamed for something over which they have no control?

John Lee Malvo was a homegrown terrorist and then there was the anthrax letters. That's two terrorist attacks that were committed after 9/11 and one still hasn't been solved yet.

8 terrorist plots were foiled after 9/11 that went public, there were probably many others that we didn't hear of.
