  • it's fantastic!!!! XD

  • The music is, I think, one of the variations in the shortened form of "Paquita"--the last act divertissements from the full-length ballet.

  • Is this actual footage from excersises in the 1920's?! Amazing. <3

  • In his diary when he's going mad Nijinsky writes that he was very attracted to Karsavina. She was married and no flirt. Her autobiography is fascinating. The Russian ballarinas' figures at that time were petite. They didn't have the long stemmed figure that Balanchine later required of his ideal dancer.

  • what's the name of the music please ?

  • sorry, I don't know...

  • @spiderpinaise Gavotte :)

  • @spiderpinaise this music is une Gavotte de Jean Baptisti Lully :)

  • Wow. How times have changed.

  • yes, isn

  • yes, isn't it? the ballerinas now are much more athletic...

  • @vilavelhense It's possibly because being rounder was much more attractive then, and perhaps it's much more demanding and competitive today? I've seen some big girls who are good at ballet these days but the thinner ones look better. It's like models. Clothes always look better on the skinnier girls

  • Thank you SOO much for posting this!! If only they had filmed Tamara's great partner-Nijinsky. I love to watch this and imagine him practicing at the barre with his classmates. :)
