I use a simple paper with a great surface. Its like sandpaper but isn't brazen enough to take the silver off the rails but is good enough to take the dirt off. However, we also use an old rag to clean the freed dirt off afterwards, creating a clean and shiny surface rail.
However, in the past we have used Track Cleaning Wagons, Peco Rubbers etc.
I have a question, since this is 00 gauge such as hornby and bachmann, is there any special type of track or trains you buy since this is outside and helpless to the weather, or is this just normal models and track. Thnks
I must confess, none of the buildings stay out at any time. They all locked up to save them from sunlight (Which fades plastic), the cold (which does them no favours) and the rain which, if too much, messes with the electrics for the lighting. The turntable is never used in rain. The motor is fully protected by the housing & the little hut but the main problem is getting water unerneath the turning section. This can cause rusting over time. Therefore, the turntable is not used in rain! Cheers!!
quite alot but over time so we didn't notice it as much. Its more the replacement of winter damaged items (i.e. points) that costs. 00 however is probably the cheapest way to go about garden railways. Good luck!
Nope. We use nickle silver track (standard hornby) so that it is weather proof. The only things that rust are the nails which hold the track down but that doesn't matter. If they snap then they are replaced. Points can suffer from frost damage but only after about 2 years
Thanks. In answer to your question...Definately not! The weather would damage it and fade its colours. The turntable is used on busy days, special days and open days. Thank you.
nice vid my friend before i start talking 5 stars that was brill, if by any chance can u tell me is there a batle of britan class tangmere on there coz i think i aw it and i would like to say im going to keep watching so keep it up !
Thank you very much for your kind commnets. Do keep watching by all means, its always nice to have new viewers! The Battle of Britain class in the video, but it isn't Tangmere, its 34051 "Winston Churchill" which, in real life, is owned by the National Railway Museum in York. Thanks again
omg. cool. It looks like a professional did this video. Dont the tracks get rusty from the sun and rain or are the tracks made for the outdoor weather?
Why thank you...the rails are coated with silver (as standard) and therefore don't rust in even the worst of weathers.(i.e. snow/frost/rain). It is left out all year of course. The only problem we have is with points which receive bad frost damage. These are replaced every 18-24 months. Thanks for commenting.
Great to learn the history of the line and how it all works. each video you make always has something new which I have not noticed before. It really is a great little railway. Well done and I look forward to the next video.

Normal track and normal models. Thanks!

@steampics
I'd assume you use paints rather than the supplied stickers for most models though?

i know you said that it runs in all weathers, but how do you stop the rain getting into the motor of the turntable?

I been thinking have u thought of doing a S&D weekend with 34051, 45156 & 9F, plus the panier for highbridge services?
G5BTB5G 2 years ago
Nice idea.We'll very much consider doing that.We may also use 5775 as a banking engine for some services.
