  • what type of sd card do you use with this camcorder? how long can you record an hd video with it? thanks

  • Excellent camera, i have the same. I think it has two defects, focusing when zoom, and low sensivity when there is lack of light. If you want a good behaviour in the night, you have to play with ISO and High sensivity setting. After that, it behaves correctly in darkness.

  • Can you tell me how u make this depth of field thing on this cam please

  • amazing footage, it would be worth filming them in slow motion to show the dexterity in which they interact

  • Did you turned off stabilization?

  • Which tripod did you use? I recently got the Sanyo Xacti CG-10 and I want to buy a tripod for it.

  • Dark conditions are not of too much importance to the regular user (camera or camcorder). We mostly only want to take our camera out in nice weather. E.g nice sunny day in the park. I am not going to go to the park in the middle of the ffing night with the camera to bother about its low light performance.

  • it might be a stupid question but how do you blur the backround and not the birdfeeder

  • @musiecs It's called autofocus, he set the camera to focus=macro so that it would get a good focus of the nearest object, it's a mode made to take pictures of small things adn/or details.

  • Amazing result! I tink i am going to buy a Sanyo

  • PUT RICE IN IT!!!

  • ten years ago you would have to spend 100k to get images like that....150.00 is probably a bargain.

  • Have you seen a squirrel get flung off of that feeder yet? That's the best.

  • Never... Which sort of stinks. If a big bird gets on it, or two doves, they go for a ride.

  • is this zoomed in?

  • Maybe a little zoom, I don't remember. The camera is very close to the feeder though.

  • Oh my god im returning my flip for this camera thaks for the post.

  • Thanks for the sample video. I'm getting ready to order one (Xacti CG10) on B&H's website. It's $159 and Free shipping. I've got an older Reg Def Xacti and I've used the crud out of it for years. I can't wait.

Thanks again for the sample video, it looks great, I should have my cats watch it.

  • The birds....

    So.....

    Beautiful.....

See how marvelous our God is?

And don't say I'm a hippy freak because it's BEAUTIFUL.

  • @ShashaSirena I was paying more attention to the great quality of the camera.

  • Very nice video. How is it for indoor/not well lighted areas?

  • If it's dark, the video is grainy, but that should be no surprise.

  • the picture quality beats the pants off of the similarly priced aiptek. It seems too have less of that background "woosh" than the aiptek samples i've watched. But I need to know how this machine can handle recording a loud band in a tiny dive bar and still maintain clarity. Can you hold the mic up to a loud stereo and post it?

  • Cool bird feeder, where did you buy it or who makes it.

  • It's a Droll Yankee, Yankee Flipper. The perch spins if there is too much weight on it. Discourages animals from eating on it.

  • @studster excellent thanks. Great video by the way. I purchased a Sanyo Xacti CG-10 based on this clip alone.

  • Looks good... how long can this record for?

  • probably depends on the memory card

  • @pierremcneil I got an 8GB SD Card and I get nearly two hours of 720P HD on it. The battery lasts about two hours two so it's good match.

  • OK now I know I'm buying this!

  • What do you use to play videos on your computer?

  • Is this a good camera? Is the microphone okay?. I had the Aiptek HD-1 and the microphone was garbled. I'm thinking of switching to this camera.

  • im planning on getting this camera but how is the battery life on it?

  • I plan on getting this camcorder :) Do you have to have a specific tripod for it ?

  • I have an old, cheap $25 tripod. The mount is standard on the camera.

  • did u do any setting tweaks? i got my camera yesterday and i am wonder how 2 make it better. if you can.

  • @gundambob646 Stick it on a tripod, quality is outstanding that way in natural light. Handheld can be shaky, but most modern software (iMovie & Final Cut Express) can take the shake out (but reduces resolutions).

  • I Got 1 Of Those My Was $200 In Radioshack

  • i love this caera, for 150 bucks... you can beat it

  • whered you get it for that cheap

  • Radioshack....

  • Hey I have the same camera! I love it! But I am not good with video editing. Anyone have any tips for rendering settings? I tried making HD videos but they come out choppy or really big file sizes. I found sony Vegas pro to be the easiest to work with mp4.

  • Have a look at my Bluesfest Byron Bay playlist.

All the vids were shot with a CG-10.

  • this video looks great! I got the same camera but my shots don't look nearly this crisp, what are your settings at? any pointers would be appreciated.

  • The settings are straight out of the box, except I changed the focus to Marcro (the flower). And the camera is only about four feet away from the feeder. Other than that, it's all the default settings.

  • since filming this have you found anything else? as far as settings go? I'm hearing manual focus is the way to go... I actually got one yesterday but Ive been too busy to play around with it.

  • Yes, manual focus is nice too. I made a shortcut to the focus settings (joystick down). The shortcut allows me to toggle Infinity Focus, Macro, or Manual. The shortcuts are handy and customizable.

  • Nice! Impressive video from such a cheap camcorder. I'm almost sold.

  • I'm impressed too. For the price, it take fantastic still photos too! I got this bad boy from Radio Shack when it was on sale for $150.00! I've had other Xacti cameras and I think they're great for how much they cost. BUT, we use it mostly outside during the day. Take this camera inside with lower light and it's a different story.

  • Haha, I went and bought it. Low light isn't great, but it's passable I guess, especially for video blogging like I'm doing. Beats my digital camera hands down, and I love the macro mode available during filming!

  • Nice, where are the squirrels?
