P (perseverance of the saints [or, eternal security])--Jn. 10:28: "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." Heb. 13:5: "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." I Pet. 1:5: "Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." II Pet. 1:9: "But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins."
"According as HE has chosen us in him BEFORE the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having PREDESTINATED us unto adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the pleasure of HIS WILL, To the praise of HIS grace, wherein HE has made us accepted in the beloved (Jesus Christ). Eph.1:4-6. [Bold is mine] Soli Deo Gloria!
Just for convenience; it is much easier to say 'Calvinist' than 'God is soveriegn over salvation and elects people of his own choosingist.' But point well taken.
I'm wondering if Spurgeon could have overlooked something? He say's there's nothing in a man that God should save him. I alway's thought that God might have saved me because in myself I didn't want to die, I wanted to live.
Brother, if you had any God-honoring desie to live, it came from Him. If you are saved it is not because you on your own didn't want to die, you already were dead in your sins and trespasses. Eph 2:1-9 and John 3:16-21.

Great message. Except I don't get why anyone wants to be called a Calvanist. Christ is the most important name.

This is because Calvanism is just a theory, not a proven biblical teaching.
