  • Youre just like me

  • When i saw the white which in that trailer i was like

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE WHITE WHICH RETURN FROM THE DEAD AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • How, and where, did you get a green screen and make the trailer appear on it?

  • noo not the white wich *faints*

  • Uh, they DID try to resurrect her in the book, the old hag and the werewolf, I mean, but Caspian did stop them. They better not make her alive for like a little bit and then kill her off, THAT would be annoying.

  • Knick's Warwick? Cool.

The Narnia's are not quite par with the LOTRs, but they're bloody good.

I hope they do just as good with Lewis' space trilogy next :)

    Great preview review!

  • bloodrunsclear you can't really compare LOTR with Narnia. LOTR was intended for a more older (young adult) audience and was intentionally darker. Narnia was aimed at C.S. Lewis' young niece, primarily. So it would be like comparing Mean Girls to Pulp Fiction (or something like that ;-)

So what I guess I'm trying to say is that you can't compare Blue with Red, Appels to Oranges.

  • lol, I like the old disney logo too. I don't know why they change it, it only lasted like two or three years. I have to admit this trailer makes prince caspian seem a lot more epic (the fact that miraz banishes the narnians, at least jadis could put up with them, lol)

  • oh crap the white bitch is back (sigh)

  • THIS IS MAGIC, I CAN TELL BY THE FEELING

  • Eeek. Got scared when you screamed when the White Witch came on. Wasn't expecting it. I just finished PC tonight and came online to watch the trailer and found your videos instead. Like you, I loved how they added the details (the fact that Edmund is wearing a hat when coming into Narnia, the chess piece, and the fireworks!) And totally agree about the white witch. Grrr, they should just leave her out. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING. I wonder if we'll see the hag getting her head lopped off. 8D

  • And I got pretty scared when I saw her in the trailer haha. Not sure why, looking back. I knew the White Witch was going to have some role in the movie, but it still came as a shock when I saw it in the trailer.

  • WELL DUH ASLAN HAS 1300 years of UMPH!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha!

"i like the old disney logo better."

    "lucy has grown up."

    glumpuddle is hilarous!!!!!

    make more videos!!!!

  • "Harry Potter."

  • LOLOLOL 5:20

  • .... looks like they're late...

    haha

  • The way you go through thoroughly throughout the trailer is awesome! Thanks for doing that.... ;)

But I think the White Witch is going to be awesome! :p

  • Did you see the blood on Caspian's hand? No!!! What sort of witchcraft is this???!!! I don't want them to start a harry potter thing. That kind of bothers me.

  • do you know if william moseley is going to be in the rest of the movies?

  • Umm... go read the books and you'll see in which ones Peter comes out. (Or just go to narniaweb dot com and go to charcter profiles)

  • You're awesome. I seriously think you should send this to Disney-- wanna go to the movie with me? :D

  • wasnt caspian supposed to be a child in this one?

  • In the book, Caspian is 13. But the problem is that the actors that play the Pevensies have aged since LWW. If they made Caspian 13 in the movie, he would be about the same age as Georgie Henley (Lucy). In the book, Peter is only a little older than Caspian.

So, they are being faithful to the book by making Peter and Caspian look about the same age.

  • no he was about peters age

  • lol "hi becky"

  • Hi Becky?

  • NarniaWeb mod. That's where I got the word "un-epic."

  • I'm so going to get slated but I love the touch of the white witch. When I dreamt the blue flame and of conjuring up the witch I didnt quite get as far as the film portrays, but I love that touch and the white witch was such a part of their lives it really brings home the seriousness of the situation they're in. that's just an opinion though, thing GPuddle you are ace and I agree with you on a lot.

  • Prince Caspian the tenth himself participating in "black sorcery and the calling up of an accursed ghost" is a despicable act by the filmmakers.

  • I agree Caspian in the book was the one who forbade that sort of action in the first place. Now filmmakers see this section and think, "we need more drama. Oh I know, lets make the whole recarnation of the witch more realistic by having her frozen in ice."

I just hope that moment is not going to be as bad as I think it will be.

  • Its funny that you mention a picture about the beach...

  • That's a really cool shot. Like I said, they should make a poster out of it.

  • What are you talking about!!?? I love the idea of the White Witch being back! She so awsome!

  • Batman is awesome too. But I would not want him in Narnia! It'd be totally stupid.

This is such a huge change to Caspian's character!

  • Yeah, but the White Witch is a Narnia character, and Batman isn't (???).

Thanks anyway, I like some of your thoughts about the movie. I agree with you that when PC says that he's PC that it sounds cheesy.

  • The point is, it's totally cliche and cheesey having the White Witch come back. Like I said, it's like a stupid comic book where no one ever dies. Plus, it changes Caspian's character DRAMATICALLY!

  • Okay

  • I think the thing that makes it so bad is the fact that Prince Caspian in the movie is going to actually engage in Black Sorcery to call back an accursed ghost. But I think the book makes it very clear that Caspian would not even be open to doing such a thing.

  • Aren't we assuming too much here? I know it looks like that but we don't know for sure. He's sort of just reaching out to her.

I highly doubt that part will be significantly altered. Doesn't Caspian get pissed in the book and say something like, "What's this? Black magic/sorcery?!"

Sorry don't have the book on hand.

  • i agree

  • This is so sweet. I can't wait till the movie comes out!!!

  • like i said, DING DONG THE WITCH IS FREAKING DEAD

  • I just hope the WW doesn't make an appearance in VDT, since they find her stone knife at Ramandu's Island.

  • oooh, yea that would suck royally

  • I do agree with the part about not alot of consistency of the fairy tale quality of the LWW movie. Really original with the trailer commentary in all. I think Caspian looks like Anakin Skywalker. And I agree with you with the White Witch...I'm thinking WHAT THE!?! Really reminds me of the Spongebob episode where Manray was frozen.

  • I don't think bringing back the White Witch as an illusion is a bad idea, as it is just an illusion, it won't be a present character.

  • I sure hope it's an illusion! That probably wouldn't be as bad.

  • Or perhaps a ghost which it's even more probable as the other villans were trying to achieve but luckily they didn't.

  • OMG BRAINWAVE!!!!! what if nikabrik and the werewolf and hag revolt, tie up trufflehunter and caspian, and BEGIN to conjure up the white witch, but peter and edmund stop them! movie-wise thats good, but in terms of sticking to the book...

  • In the trailer, Caspian is reaching out to the WW. Doesn't look like he's tied up at all. ;)

  • damn! well there goes that theory. but things arent always as they seem! dun dun dunnnnn... *dramatic music*

  • The thing that makes me even more nervous is the blood on Caspian's hand! Part of the ritual perhaps? :(

  • i watched it in slow mo... it looks to me like caspians under a spell or something. and right before the witch appears, either nikabrik or the werewolf is plunging something into the ground, making the blue flame shoot up! so i was right! its not real!!!!!

  • What exactly do you mean by "not real"? The hag sticks the Witch's wand into the ground, apparently using it as part of the ritual. They are indeed attempting to call the WW back.

  • not real as in the witch is not real... yet. but they will stop them BEFORE she becomes truly corporeal and whole. at first, shes just a spirit. then BAM!!! they get thwarted in an ultimately cool fashion. ten bucks says im right

  • Ah okay. Yeah, few people actually think she will totally return, and be walking around Narnia. They'll cut off the ritual before she actually comes back. But it's still a stupid idea, and a huge change to Caspian's character.

  • waaaait a second... didn't edmund destroy the witch's wand?

  • Edmund smashed it in half. We know that it didn't work (hence the WW shoving it into his flesh instead of turning him into stone)and it is likely that someone retrieved the other half of it.

  • waaaait a second... didn't Aslan destroy the witch? that's my question. ;)

  • again, tou-freaking-che.

  • whoah! blood?? when do they show blood on his hand? I totally missed that

  • Look at the shot of Caspian reaching out to the Witch. There appears to be blood on his left hand. It's the only visible wound on his body...so that makes me think it was part of the ritual.

  • I would almost call it an "Edmund moment" if you know what i mean. Jadis is well known for uning people when she needs something and through the lies of hag and the were wolf, he may be momentarily beliving that she may help him.

  • I could MAYBE see it if the hag, the werewolf, and Nikabrik call her up on their own, then Caspian sort of walks in on them and the reaching out is cause he's a little bewitched at that moment... maaaybe... but he wouldn't AGREE to it in his right mind, or at least if he does I'm going to be very miffed at the adapters.

  • I disagree a couple of times, i think that the beach shot is awesome, it's a perect representation of Banes picture. I also think having the white whitch coming in through the black magic is a good move, cinematically.

  • It's a total 180 degree turn from Caspian's character in the book, having him go along with this. It's like having Superman get drunk.

  • Chapter 12- the meeting between caspian and nikabrik and co. the wer-wolf says "call her up. we are all ready. prepare the blue fire." that looks like blue-ish fire to me. it doesnt look like a real body at all. they probs did that to add drama

  • Yes, but they don't prepare the blue fire. The werewolf suggests it, and is killed shortly after.

  • im aware of that. BUT in the movie, they probably will have the wer-wolf conjure up the blue fire to add some drama, because movie people do that. PROBABLY. thats my guess. BECAUSE THE WHITE WITCH IS DEAD. ding dong the witch is dead!

  • i love it when you roll your eyes when pc says "I am prince Capsian". you make me laugh. you should check out my video of that clip in which i make him sound a leeeetle different....

  • EEP. I just watched the trailer and I have mixed feelings. I'm WAY excited, but there were SO many things I don't remember from the book!! It's my favorite, and I really need to read it again. I'm by no means thrilled about the white witch. :( Seriously, HUH?! Hate when they add things that make no sense, and bring nothing to the story that I could possibly think of. *sigh*

I love your analysis! Thanks muchly for posting.

  • keep in mind, the point of a trailer is not to appeal to narnia freaks. the point of a trailer is to appeal to ALL AUDIENCES. its a publicity thing. besides, in a lot of movies, they put stuff in the trailers that they dont put in the movie. i have faith

  • i just hope the movies don't just become more and more violent as they progress. I don't think war is the focus of lewis' books at all. If they try to shoehorn a battle into voyage of the dawn treader, then i will cry!

  • I dont think they will become more violent. In the Dawn Treader, there are not really any wars or anything like that, just high action and adventure moments. The books are not all about being violent or wars taking place or anything like that, and I really hope that the filmmakers do not turn these books into that kind of thing.

  • thanks, that was a great analysis! I also love the wilder and less safe Aslan they've shown in the trailer.

  • Dude, I seriously have to disagree about the Witch. Adamson is not an idiot, and neither is Gresham!!.. they know what their doing. It is not a huge departure from the books and they OBVIOUSLY do not fully bring her back.

you should read my post on narniaweb's forum thread: "Calling up the White Witch" page 7, 5th quote down

  • It's not just about it being a departure. It's about it being stupid.

  • With the scene where Caspian has his sword drawn next to Nickabrick, it makes sense because they didn't know each other. Nickabrick never trusted the Pevensies, and never wanted Caspian to support them. If you're questioning that particular scene, I guess it should be why are they openly meeting like that, when Peter and Edmund meet everyone by bursting in and saving them all.

  • Oh! I'm sad that I missed it... many scenes were filmed in our country - Czech republic

  • (Part 2) It gives the fan who hasn't read the books a moment of recogntion and a Star Wars "I got a bad feeling about this" moment. After going back and re-reading the scene I see that there is room to take a liberty there, especially if it adds suspence. I don't have a problem with it (Sorry gP, don't think I've ever disagreed with you before).

  • (Part 1) I heard Peter Jackson talking on the behind the scenes for ROTK and he said that Tolkien left a little bit of room in some places where he felt he could take liberty with a few things. I think that's all they're doing with the White Witch.

  • I don't get it, people are saying the Treasure Chamber/How looks like National Treasure but I don't think so.

  • A different medium requires a different approach. Not a different story. It does not require different characters.

  • what do you think about those facemasks that Miraz and his men are wearing? I'm not too fond of them.

  • I think that when you see the white witch it were their tring to resurrect the witch like in the book and Caspian isn't doing anything cuz the witch has him like under a spell or something. But at the last minute some one breaks the spell.

  • ..and that SUCKS i have to add. Narnia without it´s allegories is not Narnia at all. It´s worth nothing. I really hope they´re not losing it.

  • Well, Narnia isn't an allegory for one thing, Lewis said so himself. They are suppositions. And, what "allegories" do you think they are losing in PC?

  • I disagree, and I think Lewis would too. Stories without allegory or other specific allusion still have value, particularly good stories. Of nonfiction he said, "What we want is not more little books about Christianity, but more little books by Christians about other subjects-with their Christianity latent." More specifically in relation to fiction I recommend Tolkien's essay "On Fairy Stories." I'd go into more detail if I had the space.

  • White Witch 'in an ice block scene' is probly Caspian agreeing to bring her back from the past.

  • i agree with videogirl56, i think there is nothing to go insane over seeing the White Witch in the trailer. Don't freak out until you see the actual scene. From the sounds of it, Andrew Adamson is changing a lot from the book, so die hard fans, be prepared, but please reserve judgement until it comes into theaters.

  • In that case, I might as well not make any videos. ;)

  • I can not wait for may 16! and I am not liking the white witch stuff , but at least there were no Susan Caspian moments.

  • Hmmm, *thinks* I think the part with the White Witch is just the part when those people are trying to bring her back with the blue fire. Remember that part from the book? I don't think she comes out or anything, they maybe just wanted Tilda Swinton to make a guest appearence because everyone loved her in the first movie. Maybe that's all. I don't think there is anything to worry about...(Hopefully!)

  • All they do is suggest it. And that suggestion costs them their lives. Caspian never even considers doing such a wicked thing. The people who wanted to bring the Witch back all end up dead.

  • I don't know why all the hate at the white witch, seeing as in the book they are trying to bring her back. Wasn't it in the book? I see nothing wrong with it.

  • In the book they didn't get that far. It was suggested, but Caspian knew it was wrong and he wouldn't hear a word of it. They've weakened his character significantly.

  • That witch needs some major explaining. When I saw it I thought perhaps it was some sort of dream or illusion or something like that. Poor Edmund gets almost zero screen time, come on! I haven't been able to stop watching it though. I am waiting to see it to make a definite on whether or not they went too far on certain things, because cinematic-ly it just looks awesome.

  • I really hope they DON'T give Caspian a moment where he could kill Miraz if he wanted... ugh. Aside from it being way off from the book, I just think in general that sort of "But I won't kill you 'cause I'm the bigger person" moment is overdone and cheesy.

As such, I choose to believe it's some one else.

  • To most everything you said in the video, I say: "Yeah, pretty much."

  • Why do the filmmakers think they can tell a better story than Lewis? I still can't buy LWW on DVD because it just breaks my heart how much they fiddled with it. It's only going to get worse, because no one seemed to care what they changed. :(

  • LWW was awsome. In retrospect we see that they could had used the effects of this trailer instead, and made some scenes not so clean-looking, but besides that it was very good because the allegorical stuff were intact, and that´s the most important part of Narnia. With PC i get the feeling they start to losing their grip of the allegories. It feels just like a mainstream fantasy-film to me.

  • Lewis wrote a book, not a film. A different medium requires a different approach. It's not about telling "a better story than Lewis", it's about retelling Lewis' story in a different format.

That doesn't mean I was comfortable with all the changes they did in LWW, but I still consider myself lucky as a long-time Narnia fan because it is BY FAR the most faithful book-to-movie adaption I've ever seen, and I've seen a few.

  • What exactly did they change in LWW? Besides the picnic scene when she turns the creatures into stone, and even that was touched on.

  • the entire river sequence wasn't in the book. Maugrim was a werewolf, so when he fought with peter, he didn't just jump in him. They actually FOUGHT, and Maugrim was a big hairy man at the time. They fought the battle my a river (the main battle). The pevensie kids never broke a window, nor ran away from the responsibility. There are more but it would take too long to list the changes.

  • Maugrim wasn't a Werewolf. He was just a wolf.

  • hmmm. im inclined to disagree.

  • If you're talking about the book, Maugrim is indeed a wolf.

  • maybe i just assumed he was a werewolf because he and peter actually fought. i was bothered by the lack of fight between the two in the movie.

  • Yeah, Maugrim's suicide. Whatever happened, it didn't feel like Peter had earned the right to be knighted by Aslan. And in the movie, if he has the famous line "It is my sword Rhindon, with it I killed the wolf," it's not going to be nearly as powerful.

  • somehow i doubt they would put that line in. if they are including the witch, something like that (even if its the most amazing line!!!) may fall through the cracks.

carelessness seems to be an ongoing theme here for these movie adaptions....

i couldn't beleive they didn't have the giant rumblebuffin scene!!!!! heck, if BBC can do it, surely disney could have done it better.

maybe thats why I LOOOOVE the bbc versions so much even if they do suck...cuz they stick to the book! ;-)

  • Taking an amazing book and turning it into a terrible movie is not "sticking to the book." Quite the opposite.

  • YES!!! thank you, thats EXACTLY why i hate the bbc versions. they all suck!!! theyre cheesy and blech

  • I guessed they honored CSLewis in their own, sad little way by following text to the letter, even if the outcome sucks. It's the thought that counts.

Or maybe its just because I love the unloved.

    A funny habit of mine.

  • PC is certaintly going to have some flaws, some that really bother me a lot, but I really don't think it's going to "suck." At the very least, I'd be totally surprised if I didn't want to buy the DVD... although, I admit it's not impossible.

  • Maugrim is a talking animal. He doesn't turn into a human.
