  • I got Half Life, System Shock 2, and Starsiege in 1999.

It's been down hill ever since

  • GLadOS and Shodan ..... a deadly team :-o

  • How can you be scared of such shitty graphics

  • @KillSwitch66627 are you kidding me? it's one of the scariest games back in the old days when you were... uhm... sucking on your mother's nipple?

  • @eyow321 about then

  • Google search ss2tool. It will make ss2 run well on modern systems with a single click

  • An absolute genius game. This, Deus Ex, and Half Life are what FPS's today should be striving to be.

  • @GeneralMcNuggs im the only one who thinks half life is way too overrated? its good, but lacks some specific features: weapons never feel like they are powerful. story is in a way good, but the mix between story and action isnt. i feel like running around senselessly shooting stuff.

  • can they take this intro to Queen of Blade Zerg or F.e.a.r. Perseus Mandate Security from armacham need an ADT update vs. surrogates 2011 not Manqueinn 1995 trailer or Surrogates! Sounds to much re-run advertising from this security company similar to Fallout New Vegas Or Resident Evil Apocalypse!

  • where can i find a copy of this game?

  • I am so happy that I have this game :)

  • @MrFatimals its 1999 u dumb ass this was way ahead of its time and it still holds up today i have it on my lap top i still play lots of older games from when i was younger thats what real gamers do along with playing new games

  • i wish they just re-sold this, i want to play it even with the graphics. kind see the hype of it.

  • this is one of those rare games that really make you shit your pants in the full sense of that statement. i believe if you played this game for 2 hours without stopping you'd probably end up in a hospital if not dead:D

  • They should really make System Shock into a movie. If done right it would be the perfect cyberpunk/horror film. The story of both games are full of themes on morality, religion and the impact of technology and genetic engineering on the human condition. Concepts of technological singularity and forced evolution, etc.

  • Why is this game so damn rare?

  • This game is one of the most challenging, deep developing stories to be ever engraved into my mind. I love it & hate it. The gun repairs, the looking for the chemicals on different levels challenging and so desolate. I've finished this game twice & somewhere deep down inside once & a while I miss playing it. Very long, weird but absolutely fantastic game play and story. This should be remade for newer consoles.

  • The narrator is good, but hes no Cave Johnson.

  • I would like to run through her "corridors" if you know what i mean.

  • how do you play ss2 on windows 7?

  • @biciunas

    systemshock[dot]org/index.php/topic,106.0.html

  • EA owning the franchise is just really sad..

  • @biciunas If you use a torrent to download it by searching up "System Shock 2 torrent Windows 7" you may find it. I got it for Vista and play it all the time. :)

  • oh I almost forgot: "Joooooooiin us !" :P

  • Monkey psionics was scary too! Remember when you heard their cries somewhere near by but not seen them and than - ssssshhhhhboom sssshhhhboom and you're dead. :)

  • Thumbs up if they should re-make this for Next Gen Consoles!

  • Before GLadOS, there was SHODAN.

  • @perropeppe you mean GLaDos

  • @perropeppe its like portal, dead space, and bioshock. all in one old game

  • why arnt theyplaning a new one with todays technology it would be amazing

  • Does anyone know what the OST is that starts at 0:30?

  • @jamesfish05 It's the Tribe remix of the System Shock 1 theme, used in the CD version's intro movie. Fun fact: Tribe was a rock band that included Eric Brosius (SS2's sound and music designer), Terri Brosius (the voice of SHODAN) and Greg LoPiccolo (one of the music designers of SS1).

  • One of the best Games ever. Great adult Story, great adult Action, great adult Graphics. They had understood what gamers want.

  • Starting to see where the inspiration behind GlaDOS and Cave Johnson came from.

  • Oh man....just the thought of this game gives me chills.

  • Man this game is better than any Bioshock games. Such a shame they didn't make System Shock 3 instead.

  • @GamePreorders Why should they? The orginal company who made the System shock games, Looking glass studios is dead and the rights to the series is owned by EA and EA will just ruin the sequel since they would make unnecessary changes to it to make it more appealing to casual idiots who shouldn't be playing a game like this anyway. Seriously you should of seen what they were going to do to Ultima 4 with their canceled DS remake it was awful.

  • @Evilmonkey66699

The right company just needs to work on it. Look at Dues Ex 3 for example. Everybody that played the leaked demo said it's great and from what I've seen it even looks like good ol' Dues Ex.

I'd love to see someone get a shot at it before righting the idea off without even seeing what could be done with it. Plus if a game is moddable people can make mods to shape it the way they want it.

  • @topdod Sadly the right company wont get their hands on it with EA owning the rights which is a shame System Shock 1 and 2 as well as Deus Ex(the original Deus Ex was headed by one of the System shock 2 team members and was meant as a spiritual follow up) but as I said it's EA and I doubt they will do the right thing instead will do the more "profitable" thing and make it mainstream accessible like they were going to do with their Ultima 4 remake

  • @Evilmonkey66699 Well be happy Blizzard/Activison ain't owning it than 5 year olds would be able to play it, though EA would make it for 10 year olds

  • @Evilmonkey66699 well then why did 2K make the successor to System Shock 2 known as Boishock and not EA?

  • @Trialtrex21 It was not a official successor it was a spiritual one as in a follow up in spirit like Fallout was a spiritual follow up to Interplay's original post apocalypse rpg Wasteland. Just like Deus Ex was also a spiritual follow up to System Shock 2.

EA has plans for a "official" sequel/reboot to System Shock

  • System Shock 2 Co Op anyone? Look at my Channel plz SS2 needs more players

  • Brilliant game

  • un videogioco unico, intenso e profondo come pochi!

  • if you've played mass effect 2 you'll get what i'm about to say: I honestly think that the DLC mission "overlord" is somewhat based off of this. except instead of AI it's a VI, and the VI is a dude

  • This is easily one of the best game there is, if not the best.

  • This game is incredible and the intro is top notch.... but...... I may be nitpicking......... but I don't get the title in the intro. What's the game supposed to be called? SHOCK System Shock 2?

  • @Adeebster It's not shit. It's better than any Bioshock game. It's a fucking classic

  • @Adeebster This is the game that spawned the Bioshock series. However, as great as both of them were, neither lived up to how great System Shock 2 was, even for as old as the game is. "How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"

God how I wish EA'd sign on a good developer to continue this legacy. An awesome story driven developer like Bioware could make System Shock 3 EPIC.

  • @darktorbin Anything but Bioware ;-(

  • @AmyOfHell Seriously ? What's wrong with any Bioware game (apart DA:2) ?!

  • @xcomcmdr I just feel its better suited towards a studio more experienced with FPS, like Valve. I love Bioware's games, just wouldn't be confident with them developing it.

  • @Adeebster I've only played the first System Shock right now but even that was an instant classic as far as I was concerned. Definitely don't brush these off, especially if you like bioshock. Well worth the time to play

  • @Adeebster

Don't be silly, Bioshock 2 isn't better than anything =P

  • I don't get why the game says the hacker created Shodan he didn't! He just removed her ethical constraints. Trioptimum is the one that makes Shodan and Edward Diego set the hacker up with his stupid Ultimatum. Also since Shodan had to have ethical constraints in the first place to barely keep her stable she isn't a very securely safe AI in the first place.

  • Can you make a video of all the weapons in System Shock 2 & 1?

  • i really wish they would make another game like this i mean come on after nearly 10 years this intro still sends shivers down my spine i mean seriously are you really saying no one can come up with a game like this anymore. with the posible expection of deadspace but even that felt so formualted and cliche.

  • It's a shame the lp itself is on Viddler. Fucking unskippable ads.

  • im about to play the game now, its 11:51 pm, wish me luck

  • This game needs a remake ASAP with latest CryEngine.

  • I'm scared by this game, granted I get scared the first time I play anything but this I've made little to no progress :P I keep getting killed by gosh darn monsters >.< Stupid wrench :P But I can't wait to carry on, it look awsome :D

  • I think we can put our differences behind us. For science. You monster.

  • I torrented system shock 2 off piratebay and it works, but for some reson when i try to move stuff from my inventory, whn i click it it dosent pick it up and i went through the control settings and nothing helps, also when hacking the butttons act like im not clicking them.

  • There will be now more games like this now. Games like this were challanging, interesting, well written, with multi format games now are dumbed down to compensate for the console market. Shame.

  • I finally got this game! Wish me luck! I barely get scared

  • @Abelslash202 Where'd you get it?

  • @dudelikesWoW Ebay

  • Comment removed

  • SS2 is still my favorite game of ALL TIME! I have played it through 20+ times and I am still frightened by it! I remember one night, while playing, my Wife came up to me while I was just sitting there, staring at the screen. She asked "what's wrong"?

I said, "I am afraid to go through this door!"

  • @kermit3421 LOL its such a desolate game, the dead silence and the sounds of each monster (or whatever you call it) they're very distinct. I can hear the grumbling of the humanoid zombie thing, the monkey screeching, the robitic sounds of the cyborg, the stomping of the giant patrol machine. Great game, very challenging, psychologically stimulating & terrifying. I haven't found a game similar to this, the only one that comes close is F.E.A.R, Doom 3 & Half life 2 great games also.

  • Never has a game been so intelligent and immersive.

Mass Effect 2 came close for immersion.

Silent Hill 2 came close for intelligence.

I expect Deus Ex Human Revolution to come close in both aspects.

But never will there be a game more complex, more immersive and more memorable.

If it ever happens I brains will already be turned into mush.

  • @The360gamerzz

This is of course my personal opinion, but I believe Deus Ex superseded this game in all aspects other than voice acting. Ion storm simply took this game, placed it on earth, and tried to improve upon it. I believe they succeeded.

  • @1Avion1 Yeah it's been debated for a long time whether Deus Ex is better. I know you'll probably hate me for saying this but I one of the extreme minority who hates Deus Ex. The RPG elements are really in depth and the idea is brilliant, but I felt it was really badly implemented. I've tried playing the game nine and each time I get further but then I refuse to play.

  • @1Avion1 However I feel that Deus Ex 3 will improve on the original's problems such as the aiming and shooting. The fact you have to invest lots of points into that skill to actually aim the gun properly completely undermines the immersion. I also felt that the stealth was abysmal. I know the combat wasn't great in SS2 but at least you could aim and shoot the gun without any hassle. But I think this is just something and considering the amount of praise for DE then I'm probably wrong.

  • @The360gamerzz Personal opinion is a beautiful thing. I had Deus Ex for about 4 years, and never got past the first level. Then, I sat down, and played for a good fourteen hours in one sitting. I still haven't finished, but for some reason it just hooked me that time. similar to your opinion on the first Deus Ex, I seem to be in the extreme minority that doesn't have high hopes for the upcoming third game (although this is mostly due to a lack of faith in Square Enix).

  • @1Avion1 Yeah Square Enix suck. There were only two games that were published by them that were brilliant and they were Batman Arkham Asylum and Just Cause 2. But both of those games in my opinion are the best of their respective genre. I still have high hopes for Deus Ex 3 though. From what I've seen and read on Deus Ex 3 it looks phenomal. Can't wait for the release date announcement this week!

  • nice, lol

  • We need more real hardcore single player games like this these days im talking late nights, calling in sick to work type games with amazing story lines, cool audio diary's that suck you into the story and experience, atmosphere and sound that is still unmatched today type of games. No, Bioshock was good but not this good it was too consoleized, there was no inventory which meant no equipable items, no carrying around supply's and what not because it would be to complex without a mouse i guess.

  • @MrUberguber Amen. It's a crying shame that multiplayer has become such easy money for developers.

  • 11 years old and still looking and sounding better than that game bungie made for mac/pc but sold out to microsoft, sat on it for 2 years and ported a FPS game to a fucking console :(.

Halo or something... I think, so many shitty games out there.Well it ended up like crap suited for pre-teens instead of something amazing like this game or HL.

    Yes I´m still bitter !

  • @L0vethehater Would've been better if the Halo series just stayed on the P.C.

  • February 3rd is the day the magic happens, eh... wasn't that yesterday?

  • Why is shodan a woman in this one?

  • @Rimsa SHODAN's always been depicted with a woman-like visage and dominantly female voice... at least since SS1, that is.

  • @Nuthriz

Yeah but characters explicitly call him male at least 5 different times.

  • @Rimsa Hmm maybe because they're addressing him as just an "AI"... Not sure, I didn't even notice that occurence you're mentioning here.

  • @Nuthriz

Nevermind, turns out they made him female once the CD release came out with the voice-acting.

  • @Rimsa hmm... Quite an interesting fact.

  • @jase276

Wow, what a fucking shiiiiiiiiity troll

  • @natpjohsnon I wasn't trolling asshole,I was simply stating how boring this was.Which it is.

  • @jase276 And you're subscribed to makemebad35. Just sayin'.

  • @LegoJunk128 So i'm too lazy to unsubscribe him,big whoop. You trying to say he's boring?

  • @jase276 Nope. But I do think he's the worst person on youtube (Next to Shane Dawson and the Annoying Orange). He's an insane loud ginger with a forced, sexist, vulgar sense of humor, disturbingly bulgy eyes, a giant gap in his teeth, and something stuck in his windpipe, I mean, have you seen his neck? it looks like there's a chicken bone stuck in there. My point is you don't seem to have the best taste.

  • @LegoJunk128 Well I haven't seen any of his new videos.I only saw one of his videos a long time ago when they used to be good and thought "eh,why the not".It was a good vid so i gave him a sub.Don't be so quick to judge

  • @jase276 I also noticed you're subscribed to the official Vampires Suck channel. So... you hate System Shock 2, yet you find the latest taint burger from those two unfunny spoof douches entertaining? Yeah, bad taste.

  • @LegoJunk128 I hope you know I'm not the only one using this acc but ok.I never said I hated System Shock 2 or that it's a bad game.I only said this video was boring, could you assume anymore. Then again you do make videos of you playing with toys so I guess you can't really insult someone's taste now can you.

  • @jase276 WAIT A SECOND. More than one person uses your account? Mindfreak.

  • @LegoJunk128 Totally man my friends use it too

  • @jase276

    don't you mean:

"I was trolling, asshole. I was simply herping and derping. I was simply stating how I obviously have shit taste in video games. Which I do."

    Fixed it for ya;

Don't worry, I got you, man.

  • @natpjohsnon No I meant:

    "umad noob trollololo herpingderpingfailmoarpl0x"

btw I said this intro was boring not the game "kthxbyeLOL"

  • @jase276

HA! Your funny because your using those over used internet terms ironically!!! HA

  • @natpjohsnon Ha I know right,isn't it great?!

  • SYSTEM SHOCK,ARE THE FIRST "EXPERIMENT" FROM 2K BOSTON & 2K AUSTRALIA, & BIOSHOCK ARE THE SON OF SYSTEM SHOCK ..... :-)

  • i played this game at 10 - 11 PM at night, all the lights off. headphones. i was INTO the game, tunnel-visioned into playing the game. was deep into the game, the real piss-your-pants scary parts. i was concentrating on getting past some Annelid-hybrid guys, complete concentration. my brother comes up beside me, and says something intelligible, and HE SCARED THE PISS OUT OF ME. i seriously thought for one nano second that an Annelid was RIGHT beside me.

that's how good this game is.

  • @fourstar7 10~11pm?..... PANZY!

try playing this shit at 3am!

  • @fourstar7 Excellent post. You are a true game player. I just got this game to work on windows xp and am going to play it for the first time.

  • i hella love collecting chems for the missions and doing what needed to be done, but ... i needed my boomboom maker... i needed those heavy rounds for those bots...eek. i love this game like forever!! (same like i like thief series games!!! - both by lgs!) hehe fun stuffffff :) i played bioshock on ps3...umm nothing close to feel of ss2... i hope they make true ss3 ... its like a good deus ex ..maybe they'll do it again ;)

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUn for the whole family

  • This intro seems so out of place with the rest of the game.

  • My comment and opinion is : The game was best ever, but i still lmaod about this

(in my channel) << sshock2 many gets pwned

  • I don't know I kind of find it hard to use the controls, also the go there fetch that fix those and then go is a bit tedious. No match to Deus Ex., but a good game nontheless.

  • i wish this shit would play in-game instead of skipping it every fucking time

  • seriously they need to make a game like this i mean bioshock was ok... but honestly it did not have the same atomoshphe this game had.

  • @Superfluous2 oh yeah... well your wrong and i hate you

  • htt p://gillen.cream.org/wordpress_html/?page_id=1103

  • @Superfluous2

    Says Captain Slow.

  • All I know is that I want this game remade with todays graphics and make it alot longer than what it was before by adding more missions and decks, but keep the same story line and combat play, i have the original game but i can't play it cause of the Operating Systems like Vista lol

  • Greatest game, ever!!

  • Boy, I'm glad EA likes sitting on copyrights more than making new games! WooHoo! This game is awesome, best villain ever, favorite video game ever, get the graphical upgrades, newer models, newer textures from ttlg website tho.

  • @VirtualSamadhi Didja hear about how they killed that doom3 system shock 2 TC?

  • @Sephlock Of course. And then Dead Space, a complete rip off, was successful, Bioshock was successful, all while they're sitting on the license to the damn thing!

  • how can you play ss 2 on an amd quad core à 2.6 ghz, Geforce GTX 260 and windows 7 professional 64 bit without rewriting anything or tuning the cores? and if there's no other way, what is the safest mehtod? thx

  • yeah. you can download it for free at GamesWin

  • I like that image of shodans face infused with the earth there at 0:43

  • I don't think I can support Irrational Games anymore, nope, sorry. I said if there was a Bioshock 3 (which infinite is) before a System Shock 3 I could no longer support this sequel'd out shell of a game company.

  • @QueenGigan yea, cept irrational games didn't make Bioshock 2 that was another 2k studio

  • @MadManWhich

They were only renamed by 2K themselves when they left EA years ago, it's still the same group of people mostly.

  • Does system shock 2 related or referenced in ANY WAY to the first one? cuz i want this, and i dont wana get it and not get anything.

  • @ZeeDDD65 no, you dont need to play the first at all theres nothing you wont get.

  • @dageezerboi thx

  • @ZeeDDD65 It is slightly. I believe it is the same villain. It is not, however, necessary to play the first to understand the second.

  • Wow, if SS2 was remade with the stellar graphics of Bioshock and with a little gameplay tweaking, it would be freaking ridiculous how good it would be.

  • @Cryer24597 bioshock is system shock rip-off. everything feels the same (rapture=von braun, hybrids=splicers, janice polito=atlas) i know its made by same guys, and its a spiritual sequal, but i really didnt like the feel of the game. i like more of the alien-feel of system shock

  • @JURPO90 So Bioshock is not a rip-off than. Like they said..spiritual successor 'a successor to a work of fiction which does not directly build upon the storyline established by a previous work as do most traditional prequels or sequels, but nevertheless features many of the same elements, themes, and styles as its source material.' I loved system shock 2 but I don't mislabel by saying bioshock was a rip off. I loved that game too.

  • ITS A GREAT DAY FOR MANKIND! :D

  • @Cryer24597 go fuck yourself thats just gay opinions are opinions so go fuck yourself HARD bitch

  • This...game...sucks? It's like a damn maze, and the developers coded it so enemies keep spawning until you pass a point. Really, really boring.

  • @cheesyflames there is mods that reject the spawning. and it doesnt suck.

  • @Cryer24597 You can totally tell this fag's a casual by that message he left. ROFL. BioShock? Even remotely as good as System Shock 1 and 2? ROFL HARD

  • You know if they remade this and released it on XBL or PSN i would totally buy it, why not Bioshock 2 just came out and that was fucking awesome, They could do a "from the creators of Bioshock". It will probably be hard to remake cause they would need to rebuild the engine but fuck getting this thing to run on a modern computer is a pain and besides I prefer a controller and my sofa. It would be cool, they could remake the first one too, charge like 10-15 bucks id get them both.

  • @Bawga888 Yes. They did plan it for the Dream Cast though. But they thought it was impossible because the game needs a mouse and keyboard.

  • great game this one. and playing it in cooperative multiplayer was simply awesome.

  • is this game also on ps2?

  • when i order pizza's online, i always use the name "shodan"

  • @shimmikins Really?! Haha! Now that's a trip!

  • @shimmikins ........you sir are a genious.

  • This sounds SO cool if you have headphones!

  • @Cryer24597 GTFO troll

  • does it work on vista

  • @Abelslash202 yes, i'm playing it right now (well, before writing this i was :P ). running it under XP compatibility mode, no problems so far

  • I'm sorry Bioshock's Ryan/Atlas/Fontaine were no replacement for SHODAN

  • Bioshock does not even compare with SS2 for fear, I found Bioshock very easy and not at all creepy. SS2 was oozing with atmosphere.

  • it's weird how this is a sequel a not really scary game , while this pretty horrorfying.

  • definitly best game ever, its atmosphere isnt beated yet

  • For those who are curious - yes, you can buy and play this game on XP. I own it. It's better than nearly every modern FPS I've ever played.

  • ... back when games were actually GOOD...

  • @Sagaramath @Sagaramath pretty much yeah. so much better than bioshock this game.and of course the planescape torments and fallouts so much better than the stuff bioware make these days. guess back then developers cared about what they made.

  • @Sagaramath And when the PC had all the best exclusives.

  • The intro is fucking amazing

  • i wonder if this is the sequel to bioshock?

  • System Shock is kind of survival horror game like Resident Evil. Bioshock is more kind of shooter like counter-strike. It is kind of sad that Bioshock might feel scarier than System Shock, just because it is technically much better and uses oportunities that were not possible in 1999, I didn't find BioShock or even the sequel so scary as it should have been. It just didn't catch all of that what was in System Shock.

  • I still find Bioshock the scariest pc game. Play it in surround sound, the ambient sounds will scare the hell out of you.

  • @D3THFAN Did you play SS2 through, when it came out 1999?

Bioshock is technically better than SS2, so it doesn't have great surround sound.

Still, when SS2 was released, it was revolutionary.

  • @D3THFAN Nah its not that scary

  • @LDreamerDude don't knock it until you try it on a good pc with surround sound, rather than your pentium 4 with integrated intel graphics

  • @D3THFAN I have turtlebeach X1 headphones (Sexy Quality) i admit it was scary but it isnt the "scariest pc game" as you so put it, i found doom 3 scarier

  • @LDreamerDude

    Turtlebeach X1 is sexy quality?

Kid, try headphones that aren't a gimmick and marketed soley to gamers. You don't know anything about "quality" sound if you think Turtlebeach headphones have "sexy quality". Jesus Christ.

  • @iHateKids555 Well to be fair i couldnt really care less, the quality is good to me, i dont really give a shit about your infinate knowledge of "Quality" so fuck off :)

  • @iHateKids555 Also, how do you judge what i think is sexy quality? Im sure an opinion plays a part in it, i could say a game has amazing graphic quality whereas you could say it has terrible graphics quality, it doesnt really come down to fact. I dont claim to know anything about quality but i do know that Turtlebeach does infact have good quality compared to alot of headsets for them to even set up a company with so many sales and to be so popular amongst gamers.

  • @iHateKids555 I understand that they're a company who produces headsets solely "for" gamers to buy but that doesn't deny that they're good quality at all, for the amount of money you pay for them I'd say that they are sexy quality compared to headsets/speakers that cost the same amount yet have terrible quality.

  • deadspace is a decent shooter, well above decent. But you can't compare it to systemshock.

because System Shock is beyond a shooter, like dead space. I still play SS2 everyonce in a while when I'm really bored, still a great game. Lots of replay, not to mention the great mods for it.

  • SS2 was and still is a masterpiece.

Not only the atmosphere of the game, but the all things in it!

I've played through both BioShocks, and allthough they are praised, they don't get even a glimpse of it.

I demand a new System Shock!!
