  • Well thanks to whoever took the time and effort to put this together, so we can see Don playing the fiddle at the same time we hear him. He had such a four-square way of playing ANYTHING: Always perfect. I love this straight-ahead rendition of OJS...it's really perfect, including the synchopation and follow-on beats that are missing in many other renditions. Also Don's use of the light reverb making the sound so evocative of the distant train...just perfect, as usual.

  • I wanna suit like that?!!!!die for it

  • Every time I would See Buck, I would think of Don. He Was a Pro

& greatly missed. Lets Hope Buck and Don Are having a Great

Time Playing their Heavenly Music, rip................

  • I could listen to Don all day. Well, I guess I kinda do that anyway. I never get tired of hearing him sing and play. Wow what a talented man. I was reading the insert on his Anthology album and it says he was married and they had 2 children. I sure wish they would post something.

  • the best like wow .

  • yeah thats an overdubbed fiddler alright. Whatta Pantload.

  • I can't stay away from this song... Wow. He's good.

  • It's Cajun fidle ????

  • Don Rich could flat play that fiddle....listen to that!

    Excellent.

  • Blueberries: You are correct. That is without a doubt Don playing. I only meant to point out that the audio and video didn't match.

  • Beautifully done! :D Makes me want to holler! :D Note to cameraman: Don't close in on the fiddler! We can't see his other hand, rather a key part of fiddling.

  • Bet ya cant watch/listen to this without tapping ya feet, even you rappers out there....lol - Great tune and great violinist/guitarist...

  • He may not have cared for the fiddle, but he was a virtuoso at it and had been playing since a very young age. People who doubt that it is Don playing are wrong.

  • The music is dubbed over video of Don playing Cajun Fiddle.

  • I've heard it said that Don really didn't care much for the fiddle, but you could never tell that from his playing.

  • the poster blocked embedding. what a dickhead

  • el tecladista es quien violaba a jonathan davis

  • The audio is definitely Don Rich and the Buckaroos. The video was edited in from the video of Don Rich and the Buckaroos playing Cajun Fiddle. Look up Cajun Fiddle on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

  • This performance is from Buck Owens ranch show that is available from Buck Owens web site at Buck Owens. There are three DVD'S you can buy with many great performances by Buck and Don and the Buckaroo's and special guest stars such as Wynn Stewart and others. I got to see Buck and the Buckaroos back in Minot ND in 1967 to a sellout crowd and he played for over two hours and the crowd was wild and did not want him to leave. Also went to see Buck at his Crystal Palace in Bakersfield. Vern from ND

  • Lovely performance

  • What a talent! Wish we had more like him around today. Way to go, Don--you are sorely missed.

  • this is phantastic

  • This is why I love youtube where else can you find such treasures. Thanks

  • That's a well executed piece, some mean playing thar - clean cut kids too !!

  • My Mother used to dance to this song while a live band was playing it and wear out the band players dancing to it !!!! wtg MOM !!

  • no doubt in my mind....thats don rich

  • I was a country music performer for over 50 years before retiring my group (Country Tradition) in 2004. Don Rich was one of the most talented musicians I've ever known. His talent was inborn. The whole Rich family was musically gifted. And yes, that was him playing Orange Blossom Special; and he could play anything else on the fiddle that was ever written. What a loss when he was taken from us at such an early age. RIP, my dear friend Don Rich.

  • @buryinman1 Yes you are so right I remeber him with Buck and yes I've watched him play every kind of instrument on the show and he was very talented and I think he was killed in a motorcyle accident. And I think while on the Hee Haw Show, maybe ...

    grasspa

  • those are definitly nudie cohn suits,he also did elvis' famous gold suit

  • @spliffinit1 And don't forget Gram Parson's pot leaf n' pills Nudie Suit. Wow! If I had a million bucks...

  • Nice fiddlin' Don Rich!........This is the first COUNTRY band I've ever seen feature the instruments. In country, it's only about the singin'. I can't believe a country band actually doing an instrumental ! I guess they have some brains afterall!

  • This dudes a killer on guitar and fiddle!

  • @JrFLYnnIV if i could play like that i would,nt be sitting here.

  • I allways liked Don, Wasn't he killed on a motor cycle somewhere in Texas?

  • @kukaburr California.

  • Trajos de luces!!

  • forget about anyboy else out there beside this french canadian man called Ti-Jean Carignan...go look for him

  • Man, I wished he wore a motorcycle helmet, that fateful day.

  • If ever I need to put a smile on my face, this song will definitely be my first choice. I loved it as a child and still hold it dear to my heart - what an energetic, uplifting jingle.....

  • So fine!

    Jo

  • one of the very finest renditions of this that I have EVER heard. RN

  • nice job on the timing of the edit... this is what I call 95 mph country. best there is man!

  • Don - what talent.

  • gostei gostei muito bom hi hi hi

  • I remember this from when I was a kid. Great Stuff!

  • I remember this from when I was kid. Great Stuff!

  • love this tune!!!!!!

  • this man is jonathan davis father from korn

  • Wow, how about that! Don't think I've seen that before. Awesome.

  • extra ! thx

  • No one can top Don on the Orange Blossom Special .

  • I met Buck and his Buckaroos about two weeks before Don died from Buck to his son to all the band members they were sweet, nice, and funny. Down to earth

  • Awesome! Yes it is footage of Don playing the Cajun Fiddle song set to Don's recording of the OBS, but good editing job. I love Don's facial expressions in the video. Two thumbs up!

  • Something fishy about this video. Reminds me of the movie "Speed" where he loops the video from the bus mirror over and over.

  • Thought I'd drunk too much! :-) Thanks for explaining the out-of-sync details! :-)

  • Buck was never the same after Don died in the motorcycle accident, he took it hard.

That is definitely Don, albeit a studio recording matched to an a scene from the show where he is playing "Cajun Fiddle". Nice job and thanks, its nice to see the picture; you captured Don at his finest.

  • This is wonderful and superb fiddle playing and a absolutely fantastic rendition of the "Orange Blossom Special". It doesn't get much better than this!

  • don was somethin else

  • ok i know wot you mean

  • Somebody overdubbed this video to a completely different fiddler. This isn't Don Rich playing. Thumbs Down.

  • @capitalismforever This is Don Rich. The MP3 of the song was taken directly from the Don Rich Anthology CD and layed over a preexisting video.

  • @DangerousDonRich I'm mistaken then.

  • Tres bon musicien dans orange blossum tres bon rythme bien soutenu par son orchestre excellent bien connue par les amateurs pour sa vitesse d'execution

  • @capitalismforever It does not match the video but it is definitely Don .

  • @capitalismforever Bullshit! He played this regularly.. You obviously don't know much about the Buckaroo's. Don played this one regularly live. He kicked ass on the fiddle just as much as he did on the Fender Telecaster.

  • @rcflybry Hold up there partner such languish on here,,, you maybe don't remember that small children get on here and read and maybe you might wanna hold back alittle on the dirty talk my good friend. Thanx awhole bunch.....

    grasspa

    A Reagan Conservative

  • @grasspa1 Yup.. You're most certainly correct and I do apologize! Sometimes I let my fingers fly before I use my head.

  • @capitalismforever It most certainly is Don Rich!!!

  • @capitalismforever it is over dubbed,!

  • All I have to say is . . THANKS ! . . Real Country Music back in those days . . !

  • they dressed like a mariachi band.

  • steike ta! ...Don Rich og fela...hærlig...førr en fin fyr og Amerikaner! Skulle ønske at han ble tatt litt oftere fram i lyset.

  • HELLO

  • I always wondered if those *s*p*a*r*k*le* suites were Mexican influenced. I saw ZZ Top wear them back way when.

  • Dangerous Don is a double threat: Tele and Fiddle chops. Nice solo, as always from Tom Brumley on the pedal steel.

  • Dangerous Don is a double threat: Tele and Fiddle chops. Nice solo, as always from Tom Brumley on the pedal steel.

  • But the wardrobe is ungodly!

  • godly

  • Comment removed

  • Bob Morris also played fiddle on this track with them

  • Nice editing job...looked almost authentic!

  • Reminds me of some of Doyle Lawson's new outfits. :-)

  • The one and only Don Rich with the original Buckaroos. I saw them live in 1968 in Toronto. I thought I had died and went to Heaven. He always had that smile, he must have loved what he was doing.

  • Excellent performance

  • Keltic, I think those are Nudie suits, named for Nudie Cohn, a tailor with a talent for using rhinestones!

  • The one and only Nudie suit. Not just Porter Wagoner, but Carl Smith, Webb Pierce, Ray Price, and more.

  • Nudie also made suits for the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons was iconic with cactuses and weed images. Sneaky Pete Kleinow' s had a pterodactyl on it.

  • Those guys look like they bought those rhinestone suits at Porter Wagoner's garage sale.

  • bad stuff mate

  • YEEEEEE HAAAAA!

  • I think he's a DREAM BOAT!!!

  • I played this in orchestra and sadly, Im the only one who loved playing it!

  • This has been my favorite fiddle tune for many years and this is by far the best I've ever heard it done. Don Rich was a very talented guy, and a very nice looking guy, it's a shame he got killed. Thanks for posting!

  • Don does a super job so did Eddie Stubbs but in mop Benny Martins version is the best.

  • Just has to be the best version of this classic.

    Brilliant *************

  • this is really fantastic !!!! greets from austria

imo only eddie stubbs has similar quality

  • THAT is some fine fiddlin'....he didn't even break a sweat....

  • some people got it and some dont Don and Buck did

  • Though Don Rich was noted for his virtuoso guitar playing and vocal harmonies with Buck, his fiddle playing is a special treat, I can't get enough of it. Thanks for posting this video. I only wish there was more of Don Rich available.

  • I agree! I never met him but he seemed to be a really nice guy and he could burn a fiddle tune. Very taltented

  • This is GREAT stuff! How sad that Don and Buck are no longer with us. But their music will live FOREVER. THANKS for posting it for us to enjoy over and over!

  • the BEST of the best!!!!!

  • Don Rich was te best

  • Love it !!!!!!

    stars , fav'd

    Lloyd

  • Was there ever a better band than the Buckaroos?

  • I think that the buckaroos and the texas troubadours were about the best the business has ever seen. NTM they both had tremedous guitar players in Don Rich(rip) and and Leon Rhodes.

  • Who was the pedal steel player

  • In the video it is Tom Brumley, but I believe that it was actually Jay McDonald on the audio.

  • Tom Brumley

  • Thank you for posting!!

This is my favourite version of Orange Blossom Special!

Far the best fiddle music ever, I just can't stop listening to it!

    Unbelievable performance!

  • Don was an incredible fiddler and guitarist no doubt. Check out the Johnson Mountain Boys version of this song by fiddler Eddie Stubbs if you want to hear a very fast rendition.

  • awesome editing. but whose version of the song was that, it is a great version.

  • It's the one that Buck had the Buckaroos record in 1965. Don is obviously on fiddle.

  • It's the video from Cajun Fiddle. Why did you do this?

  • So that people could listen to Don's Orange Blossom Special and have something to look at other than a picture.

  • I was going to ask why the video was so jumpy, then I realized it's just cut from another video with the audio track...

  • WOW.i wish i played orange blossom on fiddle as good as him! AMAZING makes my body shiver:)

  • My guitar hero. He is the reason I play guitar to this day. he always had that genuine smile. H e must have really loved what he did.

  • Brill!

  • I don't know if it's his show or something else but I'm pretty positive that was Buck Owens standing there playing the guitar in the yellow suit

  • That was Buck... and it was his show... Buck played the fiddel also and played it well just like his guitar picking.

  • my dad loves him!!!

  • That darling man..........I remember when he died. I used to watch him and Buck Owens years ago, on TV. I love this video of him playing Orange Blossom Special. Thanks to whomever put it on UTube.

  • Roger Miller was no slouch...

  • Chubby Wise was about the bset fiddler... many good ones though including Don....!

  • This vid was recorded at one speed(frames per second) copied and re-recorded at another speed... it is Don Playing OB Special!

  • Another great one who died before his time.

  • Holy Crap! That was friking hard sawin!

  • Don Rich and Charlie Daniels are the best fiddle pickers that ever lived!

  • I have a copy of this, Don playing is the best!!! (afandan)

  • WHOA! chop shop video! This is actuly the video call "Cajun Fiddle" chopped and edited. Good job though.......but just for next time, leave Don & Buck to do there own thing...Onnozel!

  • You are a dumb fuk... this is OB Special period... get a grip dude.

  • For your information, Don was killed in a motercycle wreck.

  • For your information... it's MOTORCYCLE... I lived across the street from Don in Bakersfield.... actually got to play his guitar on occasion. Buck was a great guy... and what happened to his kid... check it out!

  • Ik denk zo goed was bij het spelen van fiddle aantrek aangezien wij guitar waren. Het is tragisch dat hij stierf toen hij jong was. Het maakt me droevig. Dank u voor de commentaar.

  • hoi DangerousDon Rich.
