@Ajntb2Sli oh well done mate. You have to say that the term aborigine would be used only ,as far as i am aware , as a name for the "INDIGENOUS" peoples of Australia. Well done on realising ,largely due to my prompt, that the term you should have used was "indigenous" .
All I can say is that this is a great series, but Ajntb2Sli (a poster of comments here) is one of the most moronic commenters I have had the pleasure of reading. He is so delusional, it made me laugh hard enough to turn heads at my office. You gotta love those that beat the religious drum, there is no reasoning with them at all. Took me awhile to figure that you cannot reason with unreasonable people who can ALWAYS point to something made up as their "proof."
Great documentary, it is a shame but once you got on Morality, you alienated a majority of this generation. It's the truth though, the Founding Fathers preached that morality of some sort was needed. Too bad many will ignore this as Christian bias that is trying to force them to feel bad about the things they do. It's kind of sad, anyone that knows Christianity know it is just as incompatible with force, when people relate force with Christianity they forget the "HUMAN" factor involved.
If humans are not made in the image of God, then why have morals? why not do what we want? Funny how all societies in history without God have been destroyed. America is going down because of our lack of morality.
These were some great videos. But I'm afraid that it is too late. The dumbing down of American has succeeded and the future generations do not know real history. America's Republic is no more. The Marxist Oligarch's are in control.
The fatal flaw in this is the assumption that religion is necessary for morality. Indeed quite the opposite is true.
Those who have no religion are few and far between but among them you will find a higher sense of morality, integrity, ethics, compassion, and intelligence than among any religious group.
There are very sound fundamental reasons for this.
what is morality without law? If there were no higher law, then me killing you would be no different than a lion killing another. There is nothing immoral about that.
What is higher law? Other than some cryptic message that someone claims to have pulled out from some dark place. (I'll leave the nature of the place to your imagination)
Anyone can claim that so don't be fooled.
Would you kill me without a second thought if you didn't believe there was some "higher law" that forbade it? If so you have no morality since the only thing stopping you is fear of what might happen to you as a result.
That's not my point. I am saying with higher law there is a premise for a morality. Without it, we are just animals. Therefore, what I do is neither good nor bad.....
Morality doesn't require any "premise". It's something we have or haven't got and no law, higher or otherwise can change that.
There's nothing moral about "doing the right thing" purely out of fear of retribution. Indeed this way of living tends to usurp and corrupt our natural morality.
Morality COMES from Religion. That is how we get our laws. without religion, there would be no sense of morality, because there wouldn't be anything to keep you from doing what you want. Morality teaches that there are consequences if you do something wrong. And that there are rewards for doing Good. You get that from Religion, because that is where it comes from. You open the door for a little old lady because you want to do something good, not because you fear retribution.
That is precisely my point. Society does not create morality. GOD does. we are all indwelled with it, because man is made in the image of God. Even the Aborigines in the Amazon jungle know that there is a concept of a God. They know the concept of morality. THEY LIVE in the JUNGLE, and they know that there is a GOD. You probably live in the inner city (I'm assuming) and don't believe in the existence of any god! try explaining that one?!
atom, your still not answering the question. Where does this "natural morality" come from? Do animals have souls? what convicts you to be moral? If I see someone lying in the middle of the street and I look away, wouldn't that be more naturalistic of your theory, because after all, we have no conscience, because we are merely animals. we have no soul. everything is relative, so, its all good. let him lie there. What do I care? WHY would I care?
but you fail to see the point. what would convict you to think that killing anyone without regard is immoral. what makes you believe in morals? why do you have them? If you came out of nothing, then how did you get morals? how can something made without a conscience have any reason to believe in such a case as morals?
I agree with this message. That's how I found my way to this video. I do feel like the people who think this way are in the minority. People today seem to treat the Constitution with the same reverance as they do with the Bible. I've often heard youths tell me that the Bible is so old, we don't do it that way anymore. They are clearly under this mind control distracted with games, foods and music that are intended to busy their time while the process to grab control is theirs.
who is society? where did society get morals. No matter how you spin it, it ultimately goes back to God, really. Even if you've never been to a church, you know about what is right or wrong, because we are unique beings indwelled with the notion of right and wrong. Society now a days do not know right from wrong. Why not? Just look at all these people killing their kids for no reason. Without a care in the world. If society creates morality, then why are they doing this?
Are you saying the bushmen have no morals? Besides, if it all goes back to God, then people only had morals since monotheism? And even if you can prove that religion created morality, society created religion, so you would also be saying society indirectly created morality.
why would society want to create religion, if by your saying, " you have freedom" from guilt or to answer to no one. Your logic is that, " society created religion, for the purpose of enslaving a society."
Great presentation. Totally eroneous conclusion. Americans don't need to get involved in anything to regain their liberty, except to open their King James Bible and read it and obey it.
Really informative film Joe, brilliant for me as i am just being some research into economics . Cheers mate .

I have never believed in any religion. Yet I do good things for people all the time because I want to. I never hurt anybody because I don't want to.
I don't need people in fancy dress to tell me whats right or wrong or good or bad. To me it couldn't be more obvious.
If you need such people to tell you the obvious and you allow them to claim credit for your natural virtues then you have my deepest sympathies.

It appears that you have been misled as to the nature of morality.
Conscience and morality are as much a fundamental part of us as our heads or limbs.
Sure they can be deficient or virtually absent in some at birth just as limbs etc. can be, or can be damaged or destroyed later in life.
As I said earlier many would have you believe that they have bestowed these virtues on you so as to make you believe you are forever indebted to them.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This video is flawed on a historical level its not even funny. The oppressive British?
The moral is cut all the taxes! It smells of Republicanism.
Small Govt. is only valid on a city state level such as Singapore or Hong Kong.

Morality can be achieved without religion.
I am skeptical that it will be achieved on a national level without religion, sadly.

morality cannot be achieved without religion, because religion created morality!

No, society created morality. Society created right and wrong. Religion just created taboos.
