The only way i think the PS3 will be able to use hacked firmware is if an algorithm was devised that could decode and encode on the go to the RSX chipset, it's a right deadlock of security this machine, which in turn is good because there will be less piracy for it and such.

Technically speaking i believe the xbox 360 and xbox original were easier to hack anyhow, considering the hardware is vaguely close to that of X86 Processors, therefore making it even easier to access ROM information through SATA. I admit I don't know much about how the PS3 secures its disks, and the boot process for disks, but what I do know and what I do test, r the results of me looking into what other people has said to help everyone understand. Paradox said the disks do not have watermarking...something that has to be untrue due to this test and the "super-swap method." For ollydbg, I haven't had to try using it cause I only worked on hacking the PS3 which is signed, encrypted, and PPC64 which is hard to disassemble

In short It'll take a form of DMA attack exploiting a handling vulnerability if one even exists.

Anyone who tries to attack the PS3 from the XMB, otheros, or file system encryption vectors are complete morons. Shellcode doesn't get executed from gameos or otheros pages in memory either, that why memory corruption gives black screens on the PS3 as it did with the x360. That applies to heap and stack.

it's no Fake, you have to do this:

1) Make a directory or use your Memory Card- for example: D:\PS3\OTHEROS

2) Copy the OtherOS.self (Mkfs.self via $DK renamed) to D:\PS3\OTHEROS\otheros.self

3) Put it in your PS3 and navigate to "Install OtherOS" along with confirming your selection by pressing "OK"

4) Nevermind is to long for a comment

You CAN hack your PS3:

All you need is the PS3 controller. You can load any backup after this! To enable the exploit press the following buttons at the same time on the PS3 controller after power on; L1,L2,R1,R2,SELECT,START,TRIAN­GLE,SQUARE, press and hold while rotating both the analog sticks clockwise slowly then tap X distinctively once. It takes a while to get a hang of it. Please note that some buttons might be hard to reach at the same time so get a friend to help or use your feet to aid.

It doesn't boot the game. It just allows a proper swap, and all components are loaded into the proper area, aka eboot.bin is loaded into memory, but without hdd support it doesn't run them.

Now yes it was a Bluray Game on DVD. I used BD-Gen to make the file proper for a 4.7GB and burned it to DVD cause at the time I had no Blurays!
