How man Don Carlo's Did he sing? Somehow in that role I usually prefer a more dramatic voice then the lyric Aragall, not to say he didn't do a good job. I know Bjorling had success in it , also Shicoff both basically lyrics also.

bumbry was appropriately famous in this role. it suits her dramatic temperament well (just as amneris and abigaille did). she's a total wounded tigress and they better watch out for her! in this perf. she's in better form than the met's video from 1982 or 1983. her "veil song" from this one is great too.

aragall is unfort. one of more neglected artists, i think, never recorded much, but he's wonderful.

I can't agree with you more than I already do! Yes, apparently she sang all three evil and jealous bitches from Verdi's operas! And she is a wonderful singing actress! And Aragall is extremely good, too.
