  • I do not know what kind of world you live in, but the Evo is tremendous enough to outrun a Lamborghini piece of (oh did I say that??????). What kind of interior were you hoping for...a Lexus Rolls-Royce crossover. Or how about a 30 second quarter-mile, with hardwood accents? People love the Evo for the speed, and the OH DAMN factor it gives you for slamming on the throttle... or have you ever even driven a go-kart? Anyone who has will know that power is important, wood accents are not.

  • if the evo 9 didn't have that stupid rev-limiter on take off i would totally go with that. if the evo 10 didn't get watered down like the subaru sti, i would go with that too. being the best of both worlds...evo 8 is my choice!

  • I feel you there. It's annoying even though paddle shifters are very precise on gear switching I feel like it takes away from the old school shifting... it made the experience driving that much better.

  • I just fitted a AGP turbo cold air intake on my brothers Evo X. He came 2nd in his class san diego auto x @ Qualcomm Stadium. His first ever event. Honda S2000 beat him. He still stalls on hill starts. The cars handling is amazing with stock tires. 3000 miles on them & they are shot. Hey he had fun.

    Any modification suggestions besides slicks, let me know.

  • That's true. Every magazine (Car, EVO, etc.) that tested it and Fith Gear state that it's not as good as the previous one...and it's not the best looking car. That being said, it certainly isn't a bad car; in a straight line it is quicker but on a track it won't win.

  • Yea I will give 0-60 times to the subby. I also give it props on engine sound and creature comforts. But these are race inspired cars so evo wins IMHO.

  • Ummm. You are wrong there actually any and all race car drivers(myself aspiring to be one as well) would turn on AYC(active yaw control) the moment they were given a chance. Look at the Fifth Gear episode of the Evo X getting tremendous bite out of every corner, and absolutely kicking Subaru's ass at it(and mind my usage of that, heated debate that is about ten editions old). Everyone knows that having that much control into a corner and that much bite out will get you two-five seconds a lap.

    The competition version EVO sold in Japan is without the AYC.

    If you had two exact EVO's one with AYC and one without but a decent LSD setup then the latter will be faster every time.

    By the way if your a aspiring race car driver then you should definitely not practice with AYC because AYC is just a fancy drivers aid.

  • you're the idiot. The Evo X first of all has two models one of them being lighter and able to take the STI on a drag, and 0-60. Also STI's have never won every statistical category because of one word: understeer. Subaru hasn't built a car that can take a corner well.....ever. I bet your STI squeals like a whore in a turn. The handling is far better in an EVO because it has active differential and yaw control. Subaru hasn't won anything against this car other than a straight, and not by much

  • An evo x can't take a Sti in a drag race, dont care if its the GSR or the MR the STI wins the straight line challenge. Now put it in any other test the sti will lose hands down, other than braking since both are the same.

  • Evo X handles better out of the box, especially with such a cool system as SAWC (AYC more so), but putting DCCD in Auto(-) with a bit of camber adjustment and better tires (perhaps the same advans on the EVO, or the Potenza RE50's on the JDM STi) will make the USDM STi more neutral, and perhaps be on par with the USDM EVO X in handling.   • Yeah, HP means absolutely nothing if it's not an entire package deal. Just look at the gti w12(horrible car) just an example. The EVO has always been better than the STI from the factory, and probably always will be.

  • I've seen the x dyno at 256hp and 280 torque. Depends on the dyno. And if you go on ams's websit, horsepower gains with the upgrades are crazy for that car.

  • I wouldnt say the sti is faster, they're actually about the same.evo beats the sti by .4 secs in 0-60.however in the quater, the evo only beats it by .1 secs with the same trap speed.If you read up on the evo and sti in car and driver for march you'll learn that the sit has bad tourqe under 4000 rpm's hence loosing in the 0-60 to the evo.Technically the evo should be loosing since its about 200 pounds heavier.and when it comes to braking,who cares about stock numbers.upgrade to stop techs.

  • Okay....No big deal...but my GSR is back at the dealer. The "service engine light" came on day 2. The dealer is super cool so far, and gave me a loaner.

    The problem is dual, one error code relating to temperature and the other to timing.

    Mitsu is going evaluate with a cold start in the morning. I will keep you all posted if you care.

    Supposedly this is a programming issue, and all Evo's are similarly affected.

  • well the car is heavier than the 9 with all the refinement, so i can't be surprised the evo x makes lower whp numbers. Weight and all other factors come in to the whp numbers. I want an RS though, otherwise gsr will have to do.
