  • Hey dude, I've had this same problem and... well after blowing my engine and having it rebuilt... we found out that noise is from a thrown rod! I know its annoying and it sucks but the way Scion tC's are built the engine is upside down and if you go to a toyota dealership, just to have them look at it and to take the engine out it's $5000... I went to Thunderbolt in Houston Texas, to rebuild my motor cost me $2000 with a lifetime warranty! Good Luck!

  • Hey, so did you fix or find out what was causing that knocking noise am having the same problem on my scion tc....

  • @martinez2312 Ah sorry, nah. I am determined it could be rod knock although I have other issues at the moment. One of my cylinders has oil blowing back (piston seals are probably gone) I go through roughly half-a quart every full tank ~360mi but my MPG's are still 29-30 on HWY

  • or it could be the drive belt tensioner

  • get the fuel injectors checked

  • I have an 07 just hit 60k and I just started hearing that

  • found out anything?

  • Hey, any luck trying to figure out what is causing this noise? I have the same issue on my 2007 with 57K miles. I dont know if its normal or not

  • @gtst23 Nope, some other guy has a similar video here on youtube and has a thread posted on ClubSciontC about it. Based on what I have gathered it could be adjustment is needed for the valves.

  • its been a while since you uploaded a vid
