Hey if you are still making pizzas, I found this site with a great forum as well called "pizza making". Made some great restaurant quality pizzas with the same recipes they have on that site.
@Chrijz yes, you can make a little well in the center. if you are making the dough right away, the yeast is going to come in contact with the salt and the liquid immediately anyway - you just don't want to activate it before you are ready to go...
@16hilltyKMS You can buy peels at a kitchen store or restaurant supply store. You can make the pizza on a pan instead and/or transfer it to/from the oven with a sturdy metal spatula onto a wood cutting board...sprinkle corn meal on it first to help slide it around and prevent sticking. hope that helps a bit...
@oomatoo3 well, you can buy it at the grocery store, perhaps at your local pizzeria or italian bakery...or google a good recipe and make it yourself...it's really just a thick, good quality tomato sauce lightly seasoned...i find the store-bought sauce adequate for everyday.
@kingdiamond6661 You can watch my Peach Pie with Lattice Top video on my youtube channel. I also have a pumpkin pie video. I will make an apple pie vid soon. thanks!
@russianguyovich22 ha!ha! nope! as long as you have the time to make it at home...you can also use store-bought frozen pizza dough, fresh dough sold by a bakery or pizzeria, or even pita bread!
@pinkbeva you can just make it by hand! mix the ingredients in a bowl and then knead it by hand until it's smooth and elastic. then let it rise for about and hour, punch down, and proceed with the recipe. the kneading is the only hard work but other than that it's not too bad! (easier than bread b/c you don't have to shape it.)
@tpain12347 just store-bought pizza sauce - but i have used tomato sauce i flavoured myself with basil & oregano, a bit of garlic. you could even use tomato paste thinned with water in a pinch. hope that helps.
Doesn't really matter - still 20 minutes or so...just keep an eye on it. I make a double batch, and then all kinds of sizes of pizzas so each person gets what they want, then I just rotate them in the oven so they each get a time on the top rack under the element...(just make sure the bottom crust is getting cooked before you move them...) you really just need to melt/brown the cheese at that point...
I love making Pizza at home, you get to put anything you want, unlike Pizzerias.
I made a whole wheat, & it was delicious. for the sauce I just use a little bit of tomatoe paste to make it thick, & most of it it's tomatoe sauce & spices. The paste tastes bitter by itself. Ohhh & the pizza dough, you can use it to make a loaf of bread also & when done, do garlic bread, it is delicious too.
My friend made pizza for my BF and I a few days ago, he puts the cheese on first, so that it sticks to the bread and doesn't slide off when you bite into it. Also, he used boccicini *sp* cheese.
I plan on trying to make my own pizzas tomorrow, I used my regular bread recipe that is my favourite (it's extremely simple) but used whole wheat instead of my usual all-purpose flour. Can a regular bread recipe be used ie: amount of ingredients? I kneaded, doing one rise, punch down & put fridge 24 hrs
Somebody else commented about putting the cheese on first (although not in a very friendly way!) and I tried it and it works really well. Whichever you please, I guess! And that kind of cheese (I like to use a combo if I have it) would be nice and Italian! I don't see why you couldn't use bread dough...the pizza dough I make just uses olive oil for flavour, little sugar...but I would guess it would work!
you are mistaken, im afraid. watch more pizza videos on youtube and you'll see. maybe that's how you make it with the cheese first, i wouldn't have said it sucked either way :)
omg yummy, too bad we don't have a bread maker and had to do it the old fashioned when i was younger, but now i work at a pizza place, not one of those chains, but its definitely really good pizza.
Wow bread machines make everything.

This looks good :) Although I was wondering why you put the sugar in there, just curious.
3xquisit3 2 years ago
Well, it's just a bit of sugar in the dough to "feed" the yeast...it doesn't taste sweet or anything...thanks!

How did you make the pizza sauce? :p

It's just store-bought! (But you can make your own using tomato paste, a bit of water, and some spices (oregano, basil, some garlic, s&p)...
