i lived in hood river for over 20 years. there's no huge dump site in hood river.. the closest dump site is in The Dalles, and its not that big.. Vancouver's dump site/land fill it MUCH bigger.

Sorry to hear that. I lived on Long Island for 13 years too long and it's nothing but litter along the roadside everywhere. The garbage companies had a monopoly and were charging everyone high trash disposal fees, so people began dumping trash anywhere they could until the counties began paying for the trash disposal themselves. The litter bugs never got out of the habit of littering so Long Island looks like a garbage pit to this day.
