  • Fritz Walter had to fight at Sardinia and Corsica. There he had malaria, so he didn't like hot weather and played better when it rained. That's the legendary Fritz-Walter-weather. He was in russian captivity, but not in Siberia because the russian general was a football fan and saw Fritz Walter playing. So he came back to Germany.

    I hope that helped you;)

    Greetings from Germany

  • @SYVG6

wait, i thought it was a hungarian guard that saw him playing with other guards and knew he was a footballer and told the Russians he was hungarian so that they wouldnt take him to Gulags cause only german went to Gulags.

  • i'd like to know abotu this players lives during the war. Were the soldier? did they fight as soldiers???? were they hidden anywhere???? for example, Fritz Walter was 19 when the 2nd world war started.(he was born in 1920).......Can Someone tell me that????.....greetings from Malaga, Spain.
