  • stupendo!!!

  • Truly, one of the top talents of the 20th.century.A unique woman, always putting her heart into

every performance. Now she resides "over the rainbow"in peace.

  • Mucho de ella esta en Liza Minelli, gracias a Dios.

  • This mean so much to me,my stepson play this ever day for 40 years.

  • She was chosen for the role because she could sing too, you know.

  • Was it my imagination or was she sobbing by the end of this? I wonder why.

  • @Underdog121488 She had a really hard life, and so maybe she was thinking about how she was never able to escape to a better place.

  • thx

  • ist euch ein sehr guter film auch wenn sehr alt

  • Omg the emotions in this song, my.heart is.soaring

  • This song is my lulrby love it !!!! x

  • Her voice just kept getting more beautiful. . . I wish I could match up to her talent one day.

  • I love her vibrato so much. Even though she was way before my time, I'll always miss her.

  • our daughter is far away ...she loves this song ...and her youngins are asleep on the floor ...life is lovely ~

  • In loving memory of my Momma.. This was her favorite song ♥

  • @lisachecers Judy garland wasn't your Mum...

  • Amazing !!!

  • die Tochter war eine totale Versagerin......

  • she has a more womanly and full sounding voice in this.

  • She sounded like this in a radio adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" that was broadcast just a couple of years before this recording was released.

  • Lovely - and at least on par with the original recording.

  • She was such a talented person, I have such respect for her and other artists of her time, they arnt as good as that anymore thats for sure.

  • one of my favorite songs of all time

  • amazin!!!

  • Judy garland I think in my opinion had the best voice ever!!

It's so tragic though..how she died:(

She didn't deserve that kind of death

    R.I.P Judy!

  • 555555*

  • sounds like Carol Burnett

  • I love the orchestral accompaniment so much. :O

  • lool Share ur dreams and thoughts with me

  • wtf is with the related videos

  • It so amazing how songs in the past can still be felt by new generations ..

  • Wow.. Frankie lymon got his version of the same song..

  • No one touches Judy.

  • Makes me want to cry :'( Such talent...

  • I LOOOVE THE MUSIC

  • Judy Garland is a legend. This song & film is so iconic because everyone Secretly wants that place to escape to where everything is all better & more beautiful. That's why so many people tear up while seeing this. Even 70 years later. I believe because as you watch her sing this you can see Deeper through than just Dorothy's character & inside of Judy herself. Who was another classic tragic Beauty of hollywood. Hopefully now she really is "Over the rainbow" & Resting In Peace. God bless her.

  • There's no one out there that can sing as good as Judy garland!!!!

What a wonderful woman with an amazing voice!

  • One of the greatest songs!!!

  • <3

  • extremely touching to hear a maturte Judy covering this.

  • ha I just wanna have fun with you

  • thats so good

  • lol Im young and thats why im not too experiesnced and a bit shy

  • The littlest Gumm girl. The one with the big voice! Yes she was a grown woman on this version, but she surely hadn't lost it! And to think they wanted Shirley Temple for the role! Thank heaven Melvyn Douglas said "the girl can't really sing. How about the girl in the Mickey Rooney films the kids seem to love so much? Forget Hey gang, let's go to the barn and put on a show. I think we have our Dorothy". Good call squared!

  • It's so sad yet happens so often when someone whose talents may be obvious, like Judy Garland, or whose talents may be hidden fail to realize how valuable they are as a person.

  • No One can sing this song like Judy Garland

  • To the people who say this isn't her, she was like .. sixteen when the Wizard of Oz was filmed. This was almost twenty years later. Do you really think she'd sound the same?

  • @eatmycharmander she was 20 :)

  • @eatmycharmander honestly, i hear ya, but it sounds to me like liza

  • @eatmycharmander Wow people doubted this was her?!?! You can clearly hear that little girl in her voice without mistake.. Have you ever looked into how she lived and died.. So sad. =-(

  • @eatmycharmander Very very true. Judy had a heavy voice. As she got older, it seemed to get heavier and heavier, but it also became more rich. The 1950's were the best years for Judy's voice in my opinion. A Star is Born is unbelievable.

  • @millers3888 i agree that her singing was better in the 1950's, "The Man That Got Away" from "A Star is Born" is one of the best songs from that time!

  • @eatmycharmander She sounds better because her voice is more mature sounding, imo, no one else can sing this song like she can no matter what year she sang it!

  • @eatmycharmander Agreed...from 1939-1955 there's bound to be a difference in her voice ♥♥

  • @eatmycharmander you can clearly tell its ol' jude.

  • Comment removed

  • @eatmycharmander For real, I agree, Even though, you can clearly tell this is in fact Judy Garland. She sounds about the same as she did as a child, just with a more mature voice in this recording.

  • @eatmycharmander Yes its her voice. she sang occapello and now she has the music. Her voice got better until they began drugging her and forcing her to take pills at night, and again in the morning. Mickey Rooney lives in Westlake Village about 15 miles from me, and he has said that they ruined her...just to make more money..Damn kikes...they killed her.

  • I love Pop Music, and I love classics like this...I love the techno-autotunned club music of today and I love the raw, powerful voice and music of the oldies.

Both are incredible in their own way, neither one is better than the other, they're two different styles of music. Please just stop arguing, and enjoy ALL versions of beautiful music

  • I dream of clouds and a perfect wonderland of happiness and complete sunshine when I hear this song.. it is spirit lifting and soothes my soul..

  • pretty freaky on shrooms but also awesome

  • im probaly the first black person to listen to this lol

  • @mayful1 "Judy Garland is a singer with a capital S. And talk about soul. This woman was soul personified. Judy Garland is a class by herself."- Aretha Franklin

“When she sang, God spoke."- Whoopi Goldberg

    You're at least number three.

  • An absolutely astounding person! A talent deserving of immortality! One of the brightest lights of the 20th century! Burning SO bright for, alas, just a short time, Judy is one of my favorite artists of all time. Watching her (and my other favorites on Youtube) brings me back to a time when I was young, when I believed there was magic in the world.with infinite possibilities and love.

  • One of the greatest songs

    I have ever heard..

    JUDY GARLAND

    WAS JUST MARVELOUS..

    SHE IS RIGHT UP THERE

  • @odg1190 just saw the pimple...... ew :(

  • Thanks for sharing

  • JUDY JUDY JUDY!!

  • i dont think the first picture is her

  • @daniel88g It IS her, actually. She was only about 12-13 when it was taken.

  • @daniel88g It's Judy as a child.

  • They certainly dont Zippityzoota :)

  • my favorite song of all my life :)

  • I saw a full rainbow yesterday and immediately thought of this song :)

  • Beautiful and timeless :)

  • They don't make singers like her anymore.

  • @zippityzoota a true singer is not made, but born with passion for music from day 1. : )

  • What a great song.

  • IZ is way better

  • This version has some nice aspects, but it veers toward the saccharine. The crying at the end? Please. She refined her singing of this later in her life.

  • @Jayee123 When you read about her history, you can see that she's not crying simply for theatrics. This song clearly meant a lot to her; I think she really wondered why she couldn't be happy, and truly wished to be in a better place. That's why I love this version, it's not Judy Garland 'in character' singing, but Judy herself, baring her soul for one moment.

  • Fantástica interpretação de uma suave e inolvidável melodia !

  • 62 people need to get their hearing checked...

  • is she dead i really hope not

  • @SuperMermaid101 Unfortunately, yes. She died of a drug overdose in 1969, when she was 47.

  • @SuperMermaid101 google is your friend

  • RIP Judy <3

  • I just fell in love

  • Judy Garland now IS a happy, little, blue bird flying over the rainbow. :)

  • how come 61 ppl dislike this? youtube bug?

  • Judy has a habit of stealing my heart...

  • one of the most magical song of all time! no matter youre from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or 2000s, this song still touch the heart of all kids and adults around the world!

  • Maybe this will sounding "gloomy", but...If I were Liza, I had buried to Judy in Grand Rapids, because that it's probably the only place, where she was very happy. Or next to her father, maybe, the only man, who truly loved and protected her.

Poor Judy, I can hear her pain here, it's like if her actually live the song. Overcoat in the ending phrase: "If happy little blue birds fly, beyond the rainbow, why, oh, why can't I?" :,(

  • this played at my grandmother's funeral :(

  • Best song of all time. Period!

  • Poor Judy :(

  • @MYNameispie1 For shame.... >:( Uncultured people.

  • Iz - Somewhere over the Rainbow

  • I honestly think she was the greatest singer who ever lived.

  • Legendary...timeless...Awesome!

  • its not the music we dislike about its the picture its scary its like shes goin to kill me in my sleep!

  • Comment removed

  • the picture is scary no offense

  • @TheEricka1998 dude ur right.. looks like shes staring into ur soul

  • to think...they were going to replace her with shirley temple in the movie. keeping her as dorothy was the wisest decision ever made.

  • hahahahaha - she was off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of oz! And we sure loved it! Seemed so real!

I'm guessing she did make it over the rainbow... and that someday we will too.

Hmm, I wonder if anybody else auditioned for that role... because honestly it does seem to have been written just for her? :/

  • @MaryPinkHair The movie was made for her to be a star, and the song was written specifically for her. They considered Shirley Temple a while after giving the part to Judy, because they wanted a box office name to insure the success of the picture. But Shirley didn't have the vocal range to play the part, and her studio wouldn't release her anyways.

  • I love Judy Garland. She was so beautiful. One of the best voices ever. Celine Dion will never sound that good.

  • Judy sings this with the pain of the previous 16 years in her voice. It can really move you if you listen close.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDACooling

BTW its Auntie Em not M >.>

  • I loved her voice since I was kid. I recently heard Eva Cassidy do her own rendition of it and I can't believe it isn't listed in the suggestion collumn. I still cry at the beauty of it. None of the others listed come close.

  • @eldrama2 some people just can't accept altos as true singers, not everyone is a fucking mezzo soprano

  • 54 people don't like Happy little Blue Birds.....

  • @HippieJimi GOD STFU get your thumbs up somewhere else

  • @lilHippo ....Your Mom

  • @lilHippo my dear friend it is there loss ,to not love judy is there loss

  • Truth all of the real truth and thats where I shall be someday............... With all our loved ones that made it there already RIP Nad will be there when god takes me there

  • never liked her singing. ugly sounding vibrato; too wide (exaggerated).

  • @eldrama2 This type of vibrato was in style those days. Kinda like auto-tune these days. Regardless, the depth of emotion in this is nonpareil. CHILLS.

  • Words to live by... I Still get chills every time i listen to this song, every time i hear her voice :)

  • a 52 personas le falta un poquito de cultura, really?

  • consciousness tells us to think of over the rainbow to a better world! and it is so beautiful! we can manifest this folks.............

  • What a wonderful song...

  • You can feel 16 years of accumulated pain in Judy's voice through this entire song.

  • hmmm 51 heartless ppl must hate skittles cause i can really taste the rainbow when i hear this song

  • Remembering Love Parade 24/07/2010 in Duisburg.... 21 young people died, over 500 got injured...

  • THE MACHINE! RUN!!! ITS THE MACHINE!!!!!

  • 51 people know Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's? is better

  • 51 people listen to Justin Bieber.

  • 51 people didn't make it over the rainbow

  • 51 people need to see the original wizard of oz movie where this song came from to understand why this song is so popular

  • Back when this was being sung people still had imaginations, unlike the present times. All the simplicity is gone, the dreams that once was will pass with those who lived them. I remember when I first heard Judy Garland singing her heart out, I'll never forget what it felt like. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", it's what good dreams are made of.

  • @lrblevinsable I totally agree with you! People dont have the great imaginations that they had before the world went electronic.

  • @lrblevinsable

You call it simplicity. I'd rather call it pureness.

  • @lrblevinsable

Why do you say that people lack imagination nowadays?

  • 50 People need to buy a new mouse.

  • wonderful

  • So did mine, pining for a love lost. This might be my all-time favorite song.

  • Her heart breaks in this song

  • this is such a beutiful song and i love judy garland and she was just amazing in the wizard of oz that is one of my all time favorite movies eva also there r alot of people who havent seen this movie and most of them r locked up in crazy town lol anyway this is a great song

  • This song 2 me is the signature song that represented hope for Americans during the depression era back in the late 30s ,,,and if i was a judge to pick the top 10 songs throughout all of the 1900s, not based on sales ,,,,on popularity, Judy Garland's song would definetly be in my top 10 songs:) +Peace+ be with U always Judy:)

  • 50 dislikes from 50 sick demented souls. Truly sad.

  • how could there be a dis like button

  • One of the best song in my lifetime....she sang it soo good....wish I had a voice like hers...
