Rule 12 Section 3 Article 1 Note 1 states that if a player touches an official in an unsportsmanlike manner, it's an automatic ejection from the game. Yes, he barely touched the official, but if the rulebook requires an automatic ejection, the officials aren't allowed to ignore it.
I'm not a Broncos fan, but c'mon Stokley! why did you do that. The next drive you could've made sure that official way in the path of your route and just ramed into him. You wouldn't get ejected for raming the official during regulation.

Stokley shouldn't have touched the official. HOWEVER, this officiating crew is the worst in the NFL. Every time I see this Ref on the field, I can only think, "This game is going to be poorly officiated." I've yet to be disappointed by this crew. In fact one ejection I made for contacting an official in basketball (college intramurals), resulted in a player's three game suspension (he was mad about the ball hitting me out of bounds when he was trying to save it).
The officals are paid to call the game fair, On the flop side the players are paid to play. If the officals had done their job all of this could have been avoided.

Stokley shouldn't have touched the official. HOWEVER, this officiating crew is the worst in the NFL. Every time I see this Ref on the field, I can only think, "This game is going to be poorly officiated." I've yet to be disappointed by this crew. They are consistenly poor to bad, and their poor calls can turn a game around fast.
The commissioner needs to appoint a panel that reviews officiating crews and begin holding the crews accountable for their poor job performance.

Bad non-call. But the player has to control himself. Even without the ejection, he probably still would have cost them the 15 yards.

The Broncos were stiffed on the no call. However Stokley deserved every bit of his ejection, you don't touch an official. I'm a high school FB official line/back judge, I would eject a player who did a similiar thing. In fact one ejection I made for contacting an official in basketball (college intramurals), resulted in a player's three game suspension (he was mad about the ball hitting me out of bounds when he was trying to save it).

The officals are paid to call the game fair, On the flop side the players are paid to play. If the officals had done their job all of this could have been avoided.
