  • Override fuse's On the back of the drive

  • im having the same problem. i cant play COD4 or black ops on my wii

  • having the same problem just hope i can fix this myself

  • Mine still works for playing gamecube but not the wii.

  • Mine was spinning then I changed the lens due to disc read error, and now it won't spin, I know everything is plugged in I tripled checked. Is there a certain way to put that lens back in, I thought I put it in right?

  • I fixed mine with the same problem by gently cleaning the laser bulb with a q-tip.

  • It happened like weeks ago when my brother played "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Game" and in gameplay, it was frozen unexpectedly. Then he pressed "RESET" button and played again from Wii Menu, and he can't because of the error message: "Unable to read the disc". So I tried all games (including Gamecube disc) and the message continues to appear and I can tell that it doesn't make spinning sound from the Wii console everytime I inserted the disc.

  • i have this problem

I was playing black ops for a while and then the screen turned black.

it told me that wii gisc error.

I brought the wii to a technician. and he said it cannot fix and to order the part is too expensive

  • @goldengoose95 Then try Gophermods LLC.

  • @goldengoose95 All due respect, thats bull shit.

  • i have a problem with my wii.it only read game cube disc and with the wii disc only appears in the disc chanel but when i start make a noisy sound inside and stop reading and appears the error thing.

  • i have the probleme :s

    watch?v=Cij_Ge524Ts

  • Dude you just RUINED that Guns & ROses disc. What you may need to do is adjust the Pot on the Laser. THe laser can' read the disc so it will mot spin.

  • @apatrickmcdonald how exactly do I do that, after installing a new laser it won't spin, ?

  • makes the same noice

  • me to glad to see that am not alone

  • buy a new wii drive for about £ 12 easy

  • hola yo acabo de tener el mismo problema

quiero saber si pudiste solucionarlo y como?

  • i got a free repair from nintendo just give them a call about your problem and thety will be happy to fix your problem

  • @TheKbk2013 If you are under warranty...else they charge 100 dollars.

Mine doesn't read double layers anymore (don't even spin), and a few normal discs are making problems as well, but it's always the same ones.

  • i had just svaed up 50 dollars to buy ssbb again and when i tried it this happend :(

  • I have the same problem if you found out how to fix it please tell me

  • @W0WlS The problem is with the Laser. The way you fix it is by adjusting the Laser "Pot" look it up on google. Im guessing the problem is that the laser is out of focus. This is especially true if you played Super Smash Brothers or Black Ops, theres been a lot of complaints about these games messing up the laser and thats because the games are dual layered. If you dont want to mess with the laser then just buy a new laser on ebay for 9 bucks (make sure the laser comes with the tool to open wii)

  • now I know the real problem with my wii!! It makes the exact same noise...

  • I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. My drive makes exactly the same noise, CLANK ---------- CLICK, Click, click. I fixed it by use a q-tip to dust the lens. I didn't bother to use any cleaning agent like alcohol. I destroyed one of my desktop dvd-drive using that. Good luck everybody!

  • I would try to fix it if i had a Y shape screwdriver, but i don't trust amazon, or kijiji. I think the problem was that the black tape ( which was the tape that keeps the gold thing steady. That gate was the one that connects the gold paper to the optical laser. Ok after i graduate high school, i will try to fix both of my wii lol.

  • @1410942 use ConsoleZombie com they have a cheap Y Shape screwdriver. Only 5dollars

  • @1410942

use a verry smal flat screw driver from set and u should be able to fit between to of the heads

  • Same here, it happened 4 weeks ago, that happened to both of my white wiis, this time i'm buying the december 2010 red wii (3rd wii) It happened when i was playing black ops online for about 6 hours and i think the wii overheated. In my opinion, its better to put the wii vertically either than horizontally because it overheats slowly fast. My warranty was already over and i had to pay $95.75 (plus tax and shipment) for repair which i would not like. I wish my new red wii wont break after 10 year

  • Ok I may be referring to the part name incorrectly but its the right at the entrance of the cdrom drive. When the game is loaded, it moves up to protect the disk and to block any other disk from being inserted. If you have the case open you can see it. If your trying to see it thru the felt opening of a sealed case, it's very hard to see.

  • I forgot to mention what caused the 'gate' to be bent. I believe it was one of 3 kids that tried to put in a game - in a sleeping wii (amber power light) that already had a game inserted.

  • @knightkrawler75 hey where is this gate inside of the wii

  • @knightkrawler75 i always leave my disks in my wii asleep and insert them to turn it on how it that a bad thing?

  • I can't remember exactly what the error was but I could hear the drive 'clicking' as it was trying to spin. If you can open your case, you'll see the 'gate' that I'm talking about and you can slightly pull it back towards you. You'll know right away if she stars spinning up. Press it towards you a bit more to bend it back and you should be good to go. I'm still using my wii without problems. Hope this helps! PS. It may have said something about disk error.

  • i have this problem to it does it to every game i have how can i fix it without buying a new drive...?

  • I have this same exact problem except it only does it to my Super Smash Brothers Brawl disc

  • i have the same problem

  • it was not the cable...sry all

  • i dont know how but this cable its on my way...lol

  • i dont know how but this cable its being on the way...lol

  • Notice that the flat cable is in the driver pull it out tape it as was originaly and it may spin normaly, u had your phillips rigth next to it on the 22 sec.

  • what I did was dissasembled the whole drive, and put it back together again. I don't know if that changed anything, but it just worked again.

  • I've just finished fixing mine and what I found was the fence or gate that pops up after a disk is inserted, was bent in just a bit. This was just enough to hold the disk from spinning. Once I slightly bent it away from the disk, the disk started spinning up and loaded. Saved $100.

  • @knightkrawler75 Just for the record, what did the wii channel said about this problem? maybe I can do it too

  • @marioemblem dude i have the exact same problem as you and i have no idea how to fix it did you just open it or what

  • so what did you do to fix it

  • Tengo Un Problema parecido, mi wii acepta los discos, empieza a girar suena un "clac" 2 veces, y se para... Reemplazar el lector es bastante costoso.. No encontraste solucion? saludos!

  • Did you find the problem to this as mine is excactly the same/
