  • Before I saw this footage I was concerned that there would be an exposure of my culture for the purpose of self-promotion. That was not the case. I'm glad that the sacred ceremony was not documented. You only gave a brief history on its meaning. I am cree, and I have had to watch, many times, someone that had the honour of witnessing these ceremonies only to feel that they every right to become a spiritual leader and put a price tag on all that is sacred.

  • If a white man seeks to know or understand the land, and wishes to honor it and learn from the red man, because none of his white ancestors remember how to honor the land, their old wisdom is lost. Is that a bad thing?

If a child has lost its parents, its teacher is it bad for them to be taken in by another family?

  • Thank you for sharing this video with us. I have been a Fire Keeper for Spirit Quests and for healing. It was a great honor to be asked. I have a 28' Medicine wheel set up in the pasture.

  • A real elder is humble, and does not exploit his teachings. where as this old man is disgracing the made up words. "Culture now a days is making up what you know"

  • He can hardly explain the true meaning. Honestly? This should not be exploited, just like all these ceremony dances brought into the powwow circle, They lost their meaning. This old man was probably paid to do this. Like all other corrupted elders. They need to get paid.

  • These rites are sacred aho Ma ta we asya They should not be exsploted in any way..... Red Nation keep these gifts close to your heart aho

  • Door man!....knock knock knock....door man! Oh crap he's lost the key......

  • You really shouldn't have plastic tarps on the the lodge, it's harmful.

it's good that you try to help people with our ways, but i'll pray for you, so that you'll do them the right way with a good heart

  • non-native

  • turtle winds firewalker good film

  • While it is good to understand not all teachings are thes ame ..some points to consider.. Mixing of medicines are never a good thing.....Vieotaping this while the fire is lit.... the fire of no end and the door are not aligned... the door speaks for itself...I am quite certain the Cree did not use doors upon their lodge entrances...our Church is everywhere we do not go to Inipi to pray although it is used to pray in,,,as all ceremonies are about prayer...truly our 'church' is everywhere...aho.

  • these damn fools seem to have no understanding of Native Culture I heard this Wasicun say the word Heyokha as if he knows the meaning of that word

  • My Nohkom brought me to this sweat, and she was a great woman. I f she respected him, so should you, as I do. He is a real healer who has helped many and welcomes all. Judging this man on his appearance is just ignorant, and I am ashamed, my native brothers, as scoffing at this man is indeed scoffing at our culture. He has been through a lot, and earned his way..don't get it twisted.

  • Dunno. Some of the things the old man says make sense, but who is the dude with the beard, and why does he laugh like that? Funny looking lodge, too. No disrespect intended, (did someone say 'lighten up'?) just making the observations...BTW check out the funny 'lakota traditional songs' at tradishsunfish's channel ah ha! love it.

  • i know this man off and on!!! hahaha!

  • Are those plastic tarps on the lodge?

  • dis guy is full of it he is ripping off lakota nakota dakota people i am Oglala lakota from pine ridge and this guy is fake he is juss abusing our ways. this guy juss wants his 15 minutes of fame!

  • @ironshield34 Unbelievable! Reminds me of another Wachisu named Adam Yellowbird or "Yellowturd as I

call him.The fool was up in Sedona,Arizona promoting his version of a sundance!!! HA HA!! And people pay him

to participate in ceremonies! They say we young men are angry?? Hey,I don't drink, smoke, commit criminal acts,or

cheap on my wife.I take care of my family, wife,& kids and work for a living.I walk the Red Path & live it...DAILY!!!

I get mad when people pervert the traditional ways!

  • hun wan- a heyoka -r- what?... he looks like a old ugly ass white guy who wants attention before he dies a long and slow fukked up death....

  • @tradishsunfish love yr 'tradish songs' ha ha ha.

  • oops

  • @tradishsunfish you little punk, you wouldn't say that trash if you ever met Vern in person.

  • @tradishsunfish

That is very hateful, check your heart. You don't know this man.

  • ......Admitedly I'm just a little hand sized stone, not a great big rock or anything, but still a part of the ~ Mighty Mountain, that unites all of us Natives. How I love my Indian heritage. So ~ Proud, so excited, to be a part of such a wonderous culture and a peoples that are set to flourish once again, the way we should, upon this land ....

  • Love the vid, that elder sure ~ Rocks ! quite literally, eh ! : ) I've been given a very special gift recently, a brown stone, along with some symbols, from the ancestors. I know about the message of the stones, ( I have ~ Always, had a passion for stones ! ) Strength, endurance, unbreakability..... cont

  • Thank you Dev. It is very interesting information I never heard about. By the way I added it to my blog about SPA culture around the World.

  • because bad spirit dont harm the person they go after thier family. I know of a guy that was playing medicine man. with -in 2 years he lost his family, his kids died in a bad car accident, his wife left him and the sweat lodge caught on fire. Do you think it wasa an accident? yea right. he didnt have the training to deal with the spirit world. he wasnt a sundancer, never cried for a vision-nothing. just read a book, set up a sweat lodge (inipi) and started hosting purifacations.

    Good luck.

  • Secondly look at the sweat lodge why is there a wooden door on it??? there is no sweat lodge in the world that is made that way. but to those who dont know any better they think that way it should be. I cant beleive what Im seeing.

My uncle alwaays said that when you mess with the spirit world you'ld better know what your doing . because you can get a bad spirit on someone and they could do alot of damage to a person and thier family. and you'ld better know how to deal with it.

  • First off, any person that is a real Heyoka would never say that they are one. let alone on the internet.secondly Heyoka is a Lakota, Dakota, Nakota word. any person claiming to be a Heyoka PLEASE dont go to them. My Uncle is a real Holyman out of the DAkotah Nation (Mdewakantowan Dakotah) he was raised to do ceromony. Spoke his language before english. he worked with Crow dog, Fools crow, and Lame Deer. Now anyone who knows these names know that those are real Teachers, the real Holymen.

  • oh man, i wish i could make out what he is saying.

  • So good to see Vern is still hangin' on! Was this one hotter than the one we went? I attended one on the last full moon and I only did 3 of 4 rounds! Twas a killer! :D

  • a beautiful man... it is so good to see you, even if it is here :)
