And the difference between gangsta rap of the 80s n 90s is they were very political! The same way the black panthers were cast out as criminals, gangsta rap was too.yhe microphone is a voice to the world. As soon as pac discovered this they cut that off real fast.hiphop never thrived in the south, they fit the mold of who they wanted to dumb us down.
The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum. Who has always put beats over lyrics?go to the west hip hop us alive,go to the east its alive. Most people in the south do not even know what hip hop is.its the same negativity, trap this trap that.its luke southern rap has set us back 30 yrs. But all this will fly over ppls programmed heads and ill be labeled a hater.wake up people
Higher powers dumbed the industry down.bet and rob johnson were a major part by selling bet to the same ppl who own fox news. As soon as that happened they got rid of teen summit, news, etc.at the same time southern rap was rising.southern rap for the most part are a major culprit. Not saying southern rap as a whole, but honestly b real.the east coast didnt drop the torch, neither did the west.
check out exzoddia the last prophet on youtube new artist from the streets of florida representing the streets of south africa some say he's the last one left
what you hear alot now is when a guy realy cant rap and admits he is not a rapper but a hustler ir a drug dealer, and when u question a fan of theirs they say well he gattin paper he getting paid ,,,the art does not matter anymore to many people but its not their fault they have been programmed by radio listenning to the same shit over and over they end up liking that and when they here a rapper talk posotive they think its corny, but at the same time they believe in god do they say thats corny?
HIP HOP music is not in the mainstream but it is around and not dead at all its something you need to do yourself and turn your radio off and look for it, look for a cypher look for the undergound where the money doesnt control the meassage
whites and mixed ppl killed real AFRICAN american culture and black music! plus black women are self-hating sellout white man's whores that's why real black niggas are fucking up! that's what happened to hip-hop and all black ppl and culture!
Respect for your documentary! The girl who said her favourite rapper was Young jeezy made stupid statements. I dont blame her because this is what happends when we say hip hop is dead. It's not based on talent or lyrics. People dont wanna hear see the truth in the real life. record compies are evil as fuck. They dont care about the childrens they only wanns see cash...
I'm 16 years old but I dont listen to that bullshit. And I know better cause I am on highschool I see this everyday.
I can't help but wonder if they coached that little girl to say that Young Geezee is her fave? I'm just in "AWW" and the reason why she likes him. A perfect example of an impressionable child! NOTICE: She said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about him being a skilled rapper! But a rapper that's a "Respectable GANGSTER" and has alot of nice things. Witch ( the thoughts of a CHILD ) is pretty obvious, It's when you have some teens and adults who try to live that lifestyle is when it gets really pathetic.
The essence of the real rap is dead! look at what the artist are spittin out in their rhymes materialist and degrating trash! These white corporations that own 100% of these labels are the main reason hip hop is dumb down, commercialized and in the hip pop bullshit state it's in! This is a culture to us black folk it sacred to us! When you mix ignorant hip hop uneducated white corporate interist with blk culture this is what you get! Death to originality and death to everything else! one luv!
hip hop has never been dead. idk what yall talkin about. just cuz 3-4 people died (pac, big, big l, big pun) doesnt mean the whole entire fucking game is dead. stop bitching goddamn
HAHAHAHA, these people in the video have no clue of what hip hop is. Gangsta rap is a bad hip hop? So are you saying NWA, Tupac, Dre, Ice T, etc are all bad rap music? HAHAHAHAHAHA. These guys are a fucking joke. Shut your dumbasses up. And I agree with kern0099. Sugarhill gang and will smith? LOL. Real hip hop goes as far as Kool Herc, Spoonie Gee, etc. Sugarhill gang is one-hit-wonder. LMAO. Fuck these guys in the video. They're fucking stupid and don't know shit.
@PoKeRFoRNiA Breaking The Oath is a documentary that shows you that even Tupac was apart of the Baphomet until he broke the oath and got killed. Hip Hop is Music to helps the poor and the oppressed. Then it was infiltrated by gangster rap and filth. And since the death of Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, etc, it has left a gap where anyone can come in a teach foolishness to lead people astray, especially if their skin is black because it gives them more authenticity in the poor ghettos.
@PoKeRFoRNiA Even NWA, pac, dre, ice t made music about the ills of gangsta life. You need to listen to the whole of their music. How many songs have you listen to of these artists? Tupac had 5 albums try listening to all of them. It's not about rappers talking about violence but glorifying the idea of being a gangbanger and bashing education. Nothing is wrong with writing about what you experience. Listen to the last verse of tupac's me against the world track and the song dumb niggas and you c
@fmcneillii you're right nothing is wrong with writing about what you experience but too many of them are writing about the same experience. Too many of them are also creating false experiences as well.
@PoKeRFoRNiA In the end no rapper is perfect. Tupac has even been called out for some of he beefs with biggie and the violence in those songs he did towards biggie and his enemies. We expect progression not regression.
@PoKeRFoRNiA "So are you saying NWA, Tupac, Dre, Ice T, etc are all bad rap music?" Well let me see...Tupac lost himself in his anger, moved away from his talent as an Emcee and became something that he truly wasn't. of all the members of NWA I have the greatest respect for Cube and Dr Dre Cube because he Used Hip Hop as a vehicle and became something more than what he portrayed on the Mic. Dr Dre Gave an Emcee like Eminem (Yeah I said Eminem) an opportunity.
@loujencece Tupac>any rappers out there. He's the most lyrical muthafucka who ever existed. I pick Tupac over all the rappers he listed. Tupac>Biggie Smalls, Rakim, Mos Def, The Roots, Talib Kweli, etc. Tupac expresses himself in the most lyrical way possible.Tupac> all the "good rap music" that stupid nigga listed. Tupac>all your favorite rappers. Tupac is the realest muthafucka who ever existed. Tupac = 1 of top 100 greatest artists of all times according to Rolling Stones.
@PoKeRFoRNiA Tupac didn't even consider himself a lyrical genius on the mic. He was real, he was hard, and most of all he was conscious. A prophet with a microphone, but the most lyrical? I think not. Rakim could spit about literal situations in a completely abstract song. GZA has compared spiritual relevances between different aspects of nerd culture and different spiritual texts. Master Ace will do a metaphorical song, with each bar standing as its own metaphor i.e. soda and soup.
@PoKeRFoRNiA I'm guessing they mean the "gangsta rap" of today and not the ones from the 90s, although the whole East/West feud did play a big role in killing two of hip hop's biggest stars Pac and Biggie. Old School Gangsta rap started it out good until Suge decided to launch an all out war against Bad Boy, then every rappers from both sides started a warfare that was putting hip hop in a bad state, but as much as that was bad, I choose that era over the b.s. that's been out since 04-05.
@IHATEROCKNMETAL It's not Suge's fault for the east/west feud. You know why? Because it's the east who started it when Tim Dog came out with a song "Fuck Compton". And yes, I choose that era over the b.s. songs produced today but I personally believe it's the best era because both sides and the feud made each other compete and make quality music to prove that their shit is the best. And it's why 90s were considered golden hip hop era instead of 80s and 70s.
@PoKeRFoRNiA I definitely agree. As bad as the East/West feud was turning out the music was still awesome. As far as Tim Mutt goes I think he's a joke to begin with, calling out a successful group like NWA cause he couldn't get a record deal LOL. But yea when talking about music that came from the East coast West coast war the best song I've ever heard was New york New york by Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop.
@IHATEROCKNMETAL After Tupac and Biggie's death, along with Yaki Kadafi and Big L's deaths, people realized hip hop got out of control and hip hop started becoming corny, hence diluting the quality of hip hop. Ones who stay true to the original and golden hip hop era don't get much fame because of that.
@PoKeRFoRNiA Exactly, but don't forget ODB, Big Pun, and Mac Dre as well. Even for r&b if Aaliyah was still alive she would've been one of the biggest r&b icons instead of all these clones like Ciara and such. As far as the ones from the golden era, Snoop, Jay, Dre occasionally, Nas, Busta, LL, and Too Short are still making music, although as you said aren't original sounds from the golden era but at least they are still holdin' it down.
this video is kinda weird. i mean they talk about how rappers keeps dumbing theyre lyrics and then at the end they say can guys like jay-z save it when jay-z evens states in moment of clarity that "i dumbed down my lyrics to double my dolla"
Anyone who says hip hop is dead are truly morons who dunno anything about hip hop at all. Hip Hop has 5 elements. DJing, Graffiti, MCing, Bboying, and Beatboxing. Bboying has grown worldwide and you can't fuck with the bboys from Korea and Europe. Beatboxing has evolved a lot and became worldwide. Graffiti artists come out with sick paintings. DJs have created lot of sick beats, scratches, mixes, etc.
It's the mainstream hip hop music that's dead. Get your facts right, people.
Hip Hop artists are like OG's in your neighborhood. They understand that the rules they break are what they create. For instance, the "no snitching" rule. Everyone obeys, while they got cops on the payroll! It's eternal, people, do as I say not as I do. Once you agree, since I gave you a taste of what I have, (you're greedy!) I got you where I want you. In marketing it's called cognitive dissonance, and it means you're looking for something, you don't know what, and I'm watching you. Exploiting.
@kern0099 Real talk, son. That's MY brain processing the words to type and convey that message. Feel me>? This degradation of hip hop definitely changed audiences, that's for certain. The art form of hip hop went away from it's own title. It's now pop, drop the hip and there's no hop, just making Paper, drop the "aper" and you get rap in it's dumbest form: Mainstream consumerism.
It's funny that your critique of current guys are compared to "the good old days" of the Sugar hill Gang and Wil Smith, lol. Back then, both of those groups/artists were considered the sellouts of the day. Everybody knew you needed to check Kool Herc, DJ Red Alert's mixtapes, Doug E Fresh,, etc. and NOT the Sugar Hill gang! You guys are young, and I bet you think you know everything. Time is a trip, seriously. I bet the kids who made this video never saw a cassette tape! lol.
the only thing in hip hop that has changed is its popularity, theres big money in it now.soon a new trend will catch on and shit will go back to the grimey 90's vibe.
Hip-hop aint dead. If I remember well, im pretty sure people all over the world still scratch records, bomb trains, b-boy, mc(lupe fiasco, immortal technique, mos def, the roots, etc etc). I think that's proof that the Hip-Hop Culture is alive and well.
Hip Hop is a lifestyle, culture so how is it dead, its not a region everybody's different, we grew up in different hoods so we gonna talk about different shit
this was great..enjoyed; however, the narration was very low.. the sound. & who was homie in the white tee!? ANYWAY.. nice piece. important piece. made me want more.
Hip-Hop aint dead but the MainStream socalled Hip-Hop today is dead. True hip-hop wont be mainstream for awhile cause of DA MAN. Today it is all about Making Money. It use to be about bein the best rapper you can be. about tellin your story about you and your hood. and about getting the crowd to move to your flow. Hip-Hop is is still out there but there is no such thing as MainStream Hip-Hop anymore. and you will never hear hip-hop on the radio for a long time. Mainstream hip hop = HIP POP
its not gloating because as soon as these niggaz get sum money they buy jewellrey and do movies etc. but they keep that element of gangsta rap and use them lyrics in their songs to relate to the youth who are in that situation...IMO hip hop is alive but the real hip hop NOT the TV/Radio hip hop...
Nas, KRS1, Mos Def, Kweli, Immortal Tech, Eminem (real eminem not pop 1), Rakim, DMX, Scarface etc. all have latest shit and classic shit and there is always the existing 90's stuff 2 download!!
ppl that say gangsta rap killed hip hop r wrong in my opinion, your're disregarding the corrupt street shit that goes on in the world...I mean cmon if nobody talks about the guns, drugs and gang killings then ppl would carry on like it didnt exist...no1 would giv a fuck about us youth, and these fucked up things would keep happenning and no1 would speak out against it and let the world know whats real...gangsta rap is the subgenre of the oppressed and is about surviving in the worst conditions...
haha rappers like kanye and jay z?? ok jay z MAYBEEE but kanye? kanye was respectable back then, but now?! pshhhh kanye fucked up big time, lets just say he betrayed the game. He fucked it over and over until it died. Thanks kanye.
to me its some of the pioneer fault in the 90's mainly like NWA and tupac watever that got the game fucked up common was right the west fucked it up and the east fucked it up the south fucked it up the pioneers play a huge role in fuckin it up not the bling bling not the dancing soulja boy music the nigger mentality the thug crap "keepin it real" the N word fucked it up
the Thug Mentality is rap because its connecting with their streets and their area and if u listen to 2Pac and NWA the lyrics are wat made them famous. True the thug mentality is not a good one to have but its about protectin the area that u reside in
the thug mentality in the media amplified the streets and to the point it dictated wat suppose to happen in the streets and how its suppose to go down according to those rappers it had nothing about protecting the area and turf they wanna ironically get out of it dont connect to the streets they lyrics is gd but if it wasnt for guys like them these kids would be them selves and not try to act in the streets like they do in the so called hood hip hop started as a party music bro remember that
the underground my ass rap is mainstream and well known now there is no excuse why hip hop is not on the top ten it should be its there aint no such credibility to the underground no more if u not on the top 10 bill board and you aint shit
top 10 rap charts aint cutting it underground hip hop dont cut it unless u break threw main stream to the world so im not having that excuse
@pseudonymmmm True true, but you have to be careful that you don't reject everything mainstream, remember real hip hop was once mainstream, and it might be again. If it finds it way from the underground, you must still recognize it as hip hop.
Old skool rapper used to boast about "gettin' paid". Selling out, to the digital plastic shit, as you put it, was the necessary means to get paid. You cannot reproduce the block or house party vibe in the recording studio. It can never be authentic. The true essence of hiphop is rarely recorded.
hip hop aint dead graff is fine, b-boy/girlin is fine, deejayin if fine & even emceein is fine dead prez, imoartal tech, nas, rakim, krs one, eminem & saigon have all recently released albums there are a few sucka mc's out now but hip hop has always had that.
SHUT THE FUCK UP! I'm so tired of people complaining how hiphop is dead when there is pleanty of dope shit out there....u just got 2 search...and not that hard cuz this is the internet age so shit is waaaaay more accessible than when i was teen. HIPHOP (like other forms of music) has what u call GENRES so when u jugde an entire seen by one perpective its just not intelligent. In other words thats just like judging all of rock music from GLAM METAL when theres groups like NIRVANNA ,FOO F. ext.
man fuck it.erybody wants to see hip-hop die,so a new uprise can start from the bottom.i gotta eat sleep and breath hip-hop, u gotta put ur soul into it,u just cant get lucky and make retarded shit for the masses.eventually, society will destroy its self, and thats when the underground will become the forfront of music, and the ppl that w8ed for so long to once again hear the poetry will listen to sick rhymes and flows once more.for now, immortal technique is 1 of the best we got in the ubderground.
Hip hop isn't dead, rap played on the radio is. The streets haven't dictated the lyrical content in rap for years. Real life, lived lyrics are dead. Record companies tell artists what they want them to say & they repeat this mess. What does a billion dollar making record exec know about hood life? Nothing, but they know bs sells & these rappers that never picked up a gun, sold a drug, or pimped a h*e will play the role for the almighty dollar. That's what happened to radio rap not hip hop.
From Outkast and NaS to Three Six Mafia and Young Jeezy, I love to listen to songs you can rewind a million times n still hear something new, like deep message filled music, but at the same time I dont wanna listen to hardcore Past-Time hippie bullshit tryna ressurect "Hip-Hop", Basically i like Both Extremes of Hip-Hop But Not the Middle... As Long as you can spit ill and have smarts you are ok in my Ears, But at the same time gotta be a man no pussies
Gangsta rap didn't kill hip hop it was the SWAGGER jackaz did the niggas that could b creative and do them there needs to be BALANCE but no dumbed downed material stop bein lazy 2 me they're EmCees not rappers
Damn I couldnt have put it better. Stop making garbage and the record companies will stop selling garbage. Or will they? Black music from the 1960's and 70's was way better. What happened where did all of these thugs come from? They have ruined black music and black culture. I am white and I see the negative image it has gained blacks. Also blaring these bass speakers with this crap in quiet neighborhoods has a real bad effect. Hip Hop will die like disco.
I'm 38 years old and have seen hip hop come from the 70s til now. While I loved NWA and 2 Live Crew, however thats when rap took a negative direction. The record executives saw how many records "Straight Out of Compton" and "As Nasty as They Want To Be" sold and decided that rap with violence and sex is the way to go. Not to hate on either group, but unfortunately as we are seeing today, the record executives were right! Stop buying garbage and they will quit making garbage! Wake up folks!
"Time will only tell"? That doesnt make sense in the context you put it.
Only Universal Records will tell. All the Rappers that make it big in the commercial sense are signed directly or inderectly to Universal Records.
Its just one big game. And the listeners/fans are getting played. Doug Morriss (CEO of Universal Studios) is laughing at all of us while they continue to drive Hip Hop to the gutter.
Fuck Kanye is all I have to say. He actually sticks up for punks like Soulja Boy and even comparing him to Nas. Soulja Boy is the same punk who thinks Nas is responsible for the death of Hip-Hop. Kanye West is so fucking stupid and so is Soulja Boy.
Soulja Boy and Kanye West are many things, but stupid isn't one of them. They the smartest niggas around, playing everyone with their foolish rap, stackin paper.
The saddest thing is all I hear on the radio today is this rap BS always talkin bout money, hoes, and cars.. like they don't have anything else to say. Kinda depressing, buts its ok, just remember that shit is not hiphop. Rap today is a get rich scheme, while hip-hop is more of a philosophy. Think Zion-I, ImmotalTech, Atmosphere, Talib, Roots, Livin Legends, Substantial, Nujabes, etc. They are the life support to hiphop and gangster rappers are the ones tryin to pull the plug.
this nigga dnt know shit he probably soulja boy....thats part of gangsta rap as well u talkin bout the community he aint makin no since, he just said that hip hop is about expressing yourself
they always name eastcoast rappers the gangsta rap is more important to hip hop as well wat about nwa eazy-e bone thugs snoop dogg biggie spice 1 2pac krs-1 dr.dre all the other greats
You can't also just blame the companies. Cause they get their money from us in the first place. They may put it out, but we are the ones saying we want it. If we stop buying into this, and look for something different then they'll realize that what they have is not what we want, and they invested millions and got nothing.
That's why I encourage people to actually go out and purchase albums by Immortal Technique, NaS, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Lupe Fiasco, KRS-One, etc cuz imagine, these dudes can sell fairly well now but if every single fan goes out and purchase's their new record labels would realize people do like conscious hip hop and sign more underground artists
Where do most people get their music from? The radio. Who owns the stations? Major labels. If you keep feeding people junk and convince them that this is good music, within time, people will think the same way... Its a marketing ploy that major record labels succeeded after the death of B.I.G. and Pac.
Just shows people can't think for themselves. It's up to us to decide what's good and what's not. Nothing in hip-hop promotes anything good as it is. Except for the very few who are more than the swag, no one else has done anything no one has done already. Except pass each other in sales. I'm tired of the songs that run together and talk about the same things.
I completely agree with you. If I was older, I would have protested against Bill Clinton's Telecommunications Act, which allowed Major Labels to buy out radio stations across the U.S.
Only thing they want us to hear is what they approve of. Only positive side of things is that we have the means to get music that we think is better and ignore the garbage they try to feed us.
You wanna know how bad hip-hop has a hold on our generation. Try being friends with people who love the hip-hop lifestyle. They're all about girls, parting, talking about selling drugs, hustling, guns, shooting people, all that bull shit. And when you try to talk about something real. They think something is fucking wrong with YOU. I can't even relate to HP. I don't live the lifestyle they show, the luxury or the slum, I don't want girls that look good, but can't do shit. Most beats suck ass to.
that dumb ass number 2 says hip hops has become more of a life style.. then music.. okay?? Hip hop is a fuckin life style rap is music... hip hop aint a music genre i know rap is also know as hip hop music... but hip hop is a life style.. always been check for your self if you dont believe me
2nd cat interviewed got it backwards, he said hip hop became a way of life instead of just music and entertainment. Hip hop was a way of life Rap,DJing,Graff,Breaking,Beatboxing now most of its just entertainment fictional dudes.
Hip-hop isn't dead. Rap is dead. Hip-hop is alive but underground. Rap is mainstream and dead. As people think of rap and hip-hop as the same they think hip-hop is dead but it isn't.
all i got to say is southern rappers and bay area rappers brought hiphop down theres a few that keep it alive like ludacris and currensy and a couple others but most suck there has been a few whack niggas east but they didnt get much plays.
stop blamming the south, blame the labels, and THE CONSUMERS . If the people who hate the way Rap Music is portrayed, WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT..WHY DON'T YOU MAKE MUSIC THAT IS HOT ENOUGH TO BE PLAYED ON THE RADIO, AND HAVE A POSITIVE MESSAGE IN IT...LIKE NAS' HERO... P.S. , PLEASE STOP BLAMMING THE SOUTH, THE MUSIC ON THE RADIO, IS JUST FOR THE MONEY.THERE ARE ARTISTS IN THE SOUTH, THAT HAVE GOOD MESSAGES IN THEIR SONGS, DAVID BANNER. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT U HEAR, DONT LISTEN 2 IT!
And I do believe more of a positive message and more of a variety needs to get out there to prove that there is more to hip hop than these dumbed down lyrics
Or atleast show a lot more of the older videos from the 90's and put them in regular rotation
The problem is that only 7,000 or so people have viewed this video. We need more like 7 Million people to watch this and learn. Continue doing what you are doing. Keep Hip Hop Alive. That is my purpose in life. One, Maka.
here's what killed it. its a combo of the deaths of Biggie and 2pac, the emergence of Diddy and Mase shinny suit era, MTV bringing in all these white pre teen fans, these bad south rappers with NO LYRICS like Master P, Soulja Boy and Nelly. Then add 50 cent's corny ass and there you go!
@Ltron9 biggie and pac where mainstream, big pun and big L where the true kings.Master P been around since the early 90's,50cent used to be skilled homie.Mace was a member of the COTC who where one of the illest crews out of NY,you dont know shit so keep your mouth shut......
When this type of garbage was going on in rock and white kids were killing each other at concerts Tipper Gore put and end to it. Why don't they do it with this B.E.T. garbage because the coporations making money off it think the black community is the most expendable race. Check around your own neighborhoods for the yoga centers and the Starbuck's. They're waiting for you to wipe one another out, and appropriate the culture. Who's breaking and djing for real and mcing for real?
Hiphip ain't dead... Rap is still the best-selling brand of music. Its just bullsh_t rappers getting all the air play. Why does everybody say hiphop dead? What about rock n R&B? there going through a decline aswhile. Its all simple sh_t right now. All this jeezy sh_t will fade and new talented MC will takeover.
selling.... the hip hop culture has been ever ever ever been about money dog... and hopfuly your right bro the real MC should all group up and smash on these bubble gum rappers with some real lyrics, but r&b and rock are another subject bro... commercial hip hop is dead in my opinion but underground hiphop is well awake homie...
@jaytechnical EAT A DICK YOU LAME ASS MOTHER FUCKER!!!!WOULD NAS LYRICS BE BETTER IF HE BIT OFF BIGGIE LIKE JIGGA? GO LISTEN TO HIS LAST 4 ALBUMS AND THEN YOU REPLY!!
we need MC's. fuck rappers, rappers are those bubble gum bitches on MTV and BET.. MC's put way more thought in there lyrics, metaphors, punchlines, story telling, simillies ect... feel me... and fuck the money n awards
That's the point I was making. mtv and bet spend most of their air-time playing sh*tty music from sh*tty artist. They stopped playing great quality music from real artist. Your right commercial music is dead. Back then commercial artist had substances. Now its watered downed and ignorant.
rock n rnb is another subject. everybody saids hiphops dead. its not. the music industry in a decline, so rock n rnb dead too. I think ppl getting tired of mainstream music. rock is horrible too. sh*t like plain white- t's n fall out boy. MTV F*CK UP MUSIC!!!
this documentary is about RAP not hip-hop.thats just rap. commercial shit isnt hiphop.
writin brekin lockin poppin djing and the good mcs always the same.. burning and bringin it to next lvl... we are still rocking. hip hop dont stop. fuck tv
That lil girl remind me of that boondocks episode when huey watched 2 much BET. Imean, yeah, Imean he yeah. This sh_t destroying or youth 4 real. N is that chubby dude 11 or 20...
Hip-Hop died due to the consumer not being active in the growth of the movement but, on the other hand the consumer supported the psychological warfare systematicly put here to dumb down the masses. Underground is trying very hard to keep it alive. However, until people stop downloading and ripping artist off it will be a confirmed death. Too many people complain about it but, do nothing about it. Bottom line is if people stop buying it then they (Major Lables) wont release it.

Death to originality and death to everything else! one luv!

These guys are a fucking joke. Shut your dumbasses up. And I agree with kern0099. Sugarhill gang and will smith? LOL. @PoKeRFoRNiA Breaking The Oath is a documentary that shows you that even Tupac was apart of the Baphomet until he broke the oath and got killed. Hip Hop is Music to helps the poor and the oppressed. Then it was infiltrated by gangster rap and filth. And since the death of Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, etc, it has left a gap where anyone can come in a teach foolishness to lead people astray, especially if their skin is black because it gives them more authenticity in the poor ghettos.
truthhitmanisback 11 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA Even NWA, pac, dre, ice t made music about the ills of gangsta life. You need to listen to the whole of their music. How many songs have you listen to of these artists? Tupac had 5 albums try listening to all of them. It's not about rappers talking about violence but glorifying the idea of being a gangbanger and bashing education. Nothing is wrong with writing about what you experience. Listen to the last verse of tupac's me against the world track and the song dumb niggas and you c

@PoKeRFoRNiA In the end no rapper is perfect. Tupac has even been called out for some of he beefs with biggie and the violence in those songs he did towards biggie and his enemies. We expect progression not regression.
fmcneillii 11 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA "So are you saying NWA, Tupac, Dre, Ice T, etc are all bad rap music?" Well let me see...Tupac lost himself in his anger, moved away from his talent as an Emcee and became something that he truly wasn't. of all the members of NWA I have the greatest respect for Cube and Dr Dre Cube because he Used Hip Hop as a vehicle and became something more than what he portrayed on the Mic. Dr Dre Gave an Emcee like Eminem (Yeah I said Eminem) an opportunity.
loujencece 10 months ago
PoKeRFoRNiA 10 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA Tupac didn't even consider himself a lyrical genius on the mic. He was real, he was hard, and most of all he was conscious. A prophet with a microphone, but the most lyrical? I think not. Rakim could spit about literal situations in a completely abstract song. GZA has compared spiritual relevances between different aspects of nerd culture and different spiritual texts. Master Ace will do a metaphorical song, with each bar standing as its own metaphor i.e. soda and soup.
raventakayama 9 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA I'm guessing they mean the "gangsta rap" of today and not the ones from the 90s, although the whole East/West feud did play a big role in killing two of hip hop's biggest stars Pac and Biggie. Old School Gangsta rap started it out good until Suge decided to launch an all out war against Bad Boy, then every rappers from both sides started a warfare that was putting hip hop in a bad state, but as much as that was bad, I choose that era over the b.s. that's been out since 04-05.
IHATEROCKNMETAL 5 months ago
@IHATEROCKNMETAL It's not Suge's fault for the east/west feud. You know why? Because it's the east who started it when Tim Dog came out with a song "Fuck Compton". And yes, I choose that era over the b.s. songs produced today but I personally believe it's the best era because both sides and the feud made each other compete and make quality music to prove that their shit is the best. And it's why 90s were considered golden hip hop era instead of 80s and 70s.
PoKeRFoRNiA 5 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA I definitely agree. As bad as the East/West feud was turning out the music was still awesome. As far as Tim Mutt goes I think he's a joke to begin with, calling out a successful group like NWA cause he couldn't get a record deal LOL. But yea when talking about music that came from the East coast West coast war the best song I've ever heard was New york New york by Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop.
IHATEROCKNMETAL 5 months ago
@IHATEROCKNMETAL After Tupac and Biggie's death, along with Yaki Kadafi and Big L's deaths, people realized hip hop got out of control and hip hop started becoming corny, hence diluting the quality of hip hop. Ones who stay true to the original and golden hip hop era don't get much fame because of that.
PoKeRFoRNiA 5 months ago
@PoKeRFoRNiA Exactly, but don't forget ODB, Big Pun, and Mac Dre as well. Even for r&b if Aaliyah was still alive she would've been one of the biggest r&b icons instead of all these clones like Ciara and such. As far as the ones from the golden era, Snoop, Jay, Dre occasionally, Nas, Busta, LL, and Too Short are still making music, although as you said aren't original sounds from the golden era but at least they are still holdin' it down.
IHATEROCKNMETAL 5 months ago
this video is kinda weird. i mean they talk about how rappers keeps dumbing theyre lyrics and then at the end they say can guys like jay-z save it when jay-z evens states in moment of clarity that "i dumbed down my lyrics to double my dolla"

Exploiting.
kern0099 1 year ago 7
@kern0099 Real talk, son. That's MY brain processing the words to type and convey that message. Feel me>? This degradation of hip hop definitely changed audiences, that's for certain. The art form of hip hop went away from it's own title. It's now pop, drop the hip and there's no hop, just making Paper, drop the "aper" and you get rap in it's dumbest form: Mainstream consumerism.

It's funny that your critique of current guys are compared to "the good old days" of the Sugar hill Gang and Wil Smith, lol.

DaHipHopAdvocate 2 years ago 3
I disagree..
Where do most people get their music from? The radio. Who owns the stations? Major labels. If you keep feeding people junk and convince them that this is good music, within time, people will think the same way... Its a marketing ploy that major record labels succeeded after the death of B.I.G. and Pac.
benandreas369 2 years ago
Just shows people can't think for themselves. It's up to us to decide what's good and what's not. Nothing in hip-hop promotes anything good as it is. Except for the very few who are more than the swag, no one else has done anything no one has done already. Except pass each other in sales. I'm tired of the songs that run together and talk about the same things.

I completely agree with you. If I was older, I would have protested against Bill Clinton's Telecommunications Act, which allowed Major Labels to buy out radio stations across the U.S.

P.S. , PLEASE STOP BLAMMING THE SOUTH, THE MUSIC ON THE RADIO, IS JUST FOR THE MONEY.THERE ARE ARTISTS IN THE SOUTH, THAT HAVE GOOD MESSAGES IN THEIR SONGS, DAVID BANNER. some hip-hop rappers do drugs and stuff.
and i mean like some people like the beat
and dont give a care about the song.

I agree to a lot of these guys are saying.
And I do believe more of a positive message and more of a variety needs to get out there to prove that there is more to hip hop than these dumbed down lyrics
Or atleast show a lot more of the older videos from the 90's and put them in regular rotation
Nas' "One Love" or "I Can"
Boogie Down Productions/KRS-One's "My Philosophy"
etc
And oh yeah, independent labels all day!

All this jeezy sh_t will fade and new talented MC will takeover.
ecko2k 3 years ago
selling.... the hip hop culture has been ever ever ever been about money dog... and hopfuly your right bro the real MC should all group up and smash on these bubble gum rappers with some real lyrics, but r&b and rock are another subject bro... commercial hip hop is dead in my opinion but underground hiphop is well awake homie...

we need MC's. fuck rappers, rappers are those bubble gum bitches on MTV and BET.. MC's put way more thought in there lyrics, metaphors, punchlines, story telling, simillies ect... feel me... and fuck the money n awards
robotsandtrash 3 years ago 4
That's the point I was making. mtv and bet spend most of their air-time playing sh*tty music from sh*tty artist. They stopped playing great quality music from real artist. Your right commercial music is dead. Back then commercial artist had substances. Now its watered downed and ignorant.
ecko2k 3 years ago 3
rock n rnb is another subject. everybody saids hiphops dead. its not. the music industry in a decline, so rock n rnb dead too. I think ppl getting tired of mainstream music. rock is horrible too. sh*t like plain white- t's n fall out boy. MTV F*CK UP MUSIC!!!
