everyone who opposes embryonic stem cell research should be consistent with their position and take an oath..."I will reject any and all treatments or cures that could save my life or improve the quality of my life if that treatment or cure has been a result of embryonic stem cell research"
Stem cell researchers sure whine alot about getting govt. funding. Did phizer need govt funding for viagra? No, that is because independant investors saw promise and invested. If embryonic stem cells showed any real progress or promise and not just fairy tales, then private investors would negate the need for federal funding.
I hope stem cell research some day might cure a cancer like the one my family is battling. Say yes to physicians and researchers and no to fundamentalist nutbag uber right wing preachers. Yes on stem cell research! --former texan, not moving back until the curent idiot governor is OUT
as someone who works with stem cells, you're completely wrong. We're not growing replacement parts, nor are we even attempting to grow them. SCR is focused on THERAPY not replacement parts. Growing a new arm/lung/etc is not even in consideration for the near future. By denying funding to SCR, you're denying the therapeutic capability it may have. Stem cells have the possibility to develop into blood cells, where there would be no more reliance on blood banks or fears of shortages.
However, Gov. Perry is on record that there will NEVER be state funding for SCR as long as he is in office. SCR shouldn't be made into a partisan issue, for the sake of the Governor's extremist voting bloc, as the promise it offers cuts through party lines to the shared goal of improving the quality of life of all Texans. Texas needs leadership with the courage to move forward, not backward.
Those against better treatment or technological advances shall not speak in the name of those affected.

Stem Cell Reseach is another danger that cience represents....it has far wider implications than the good that it may so.
Scientists given the money could do all sorts...He we are growing replacemtn parts....just how small a dicviding line is this to cloning?
I for one would not give scientists any more leway on playing god.
