fun story, 1 time when i fought him, he destroyed my entire party, i had used all my runes, and one more hit would have killed the main character, so i sent him to attack one last time...........and Luca fell to his knees........you can guess my reaction to this.
Luca Blight wasn't created out of magic alien cells and never acquired magic to become a god. He didn't want to be a god, or rule the world or anything. He never spoke of his past, he never used it as a crutch. All he needed was an ax and some fire. Luca Blight just wanted to kill everything that moved. He was destruction incarnate. If he isn't the greatest video game villain, I don't know who is.
Damn, this music.. I think I will always remebember this for now on. Most epic fight ever. When you could use different kind of teams to weaken the Luca.

And this game was released in 1998-2000. Dang. This shows how you can miss the masterpieces when they aren't mainstream shit.

yeah basically sephiroth is stronger than luca but luca blight is better bec. unlike him sephiroth research, sacrifice everything to acquire super power and made himself a monster while luca blight train like or harder than a normal soldier.
plus luca blight have no super powers, he's not a alien, he just a normal human but still unbeatable 1 on 1 and what's make him cooler he is the prince later king, his enemy retreated when he enter at warfare and his death is super epic
I was shocked that in order to defeat Luca you had to make teams of three. When I beat Luca with the first team I was like "oh yeah! he is down!" only to find out you had to keep fighting him and with each time it seems like he gets stronger. Then when I thought it was all over, we had to fight him 1 on 1 and I totally forgot to heal Riou! damn you Luca Blight! you are one Badass villain!
Thumbs up if you think Luca Blight is the best RPG villian of all time. I mean, come on, it takes 3 TEAMS to take him down, and even then, a duel and a hail of arrows. Maybe only Lavos can come close to Luca. I know, Lavos is more like a mindless beast that are doing just what his species are suppose to do, whitout much "evilness" or backstory. What is wonderful with Luca is that he is the only vilain I really wanted to kill. To make him pay for what he done to everybody, to avenge the lives he has taken, the families he has crushed, the children he has killed, to finally put an end to this mindless war. This music really pumped me, and during the 1v1 with him I really felt the pressure of a decisive battle for the future.

I nearly cried when my party hit him with everything they had and barely scratched him. I had Humphrey with a Fury rune and sword to the highest it could be at that point! He did next to nothing!
Luca Blight weathered a ruthless onslaught--several, even--from an entire army of righteously-pissed rebels and troops from neighboring lands that have been victimized by Luca, an arrow storm the elves of Mirkwood would have been proud of, direct assaults from *three different strike forces*, a second arrow storm, and finally a duel with the enemy commander.
And what happens? EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED. He will go down in the annals of time in that world as the greatest monster to live, as planned.
Everyone seems to forget that Luca Blight had also received heavy punishment earlier in the day, before he went on the night raid, when your whole army was pounding on his lone unit. It was after that when he received a hail of arrows hitting him, also fell off his horse, then fought 18 people, received another hail of arrows, and then had a one on one duel with Riou. After losing he STILL had enough strength left to walk, and give a short speech about his awesomeness/evilness.
Suikoden II has the best characterization and storyline and emotion and soundtrack than any other game I've played. Come to think of it, it's the best game I've ever played.
Sephiroth is one of the weakest villians in history. Nothing he ever does makes sense and his motivations can only ever be debated because his only purpose is to screw with Cloud. At best, he's a psychotic punktard with an oedipus complex, at worst a complete pawn of Jenova.
You're compeltely wrong. His motivation was clear from the start: self-discovery and an aim to make the planet his own. He toyed with Cloud because Cloud was following him, not the other way around! Sephiroth was far from weak. Better than kefka, better than Sin, better than whatever the boss of FF9 was.
@Music1222 'Cept for the part where Kefka actually succeeded in his goal and was only defeated after he'd plunged the world into ruin and conquered it, and Kuja committed multiple genocides as well as crushing two kingdoms, leaving Alexandria and Treno as the only real powers left in the world at the end of the game as the other kingdoms are crippled.
Sephiroth... lost. Twice, and not once managed to fulfill his goal outside of messing with Cloud's head.

@LightningZerker Kefka didn't limit himself to killing untold amounts of humans, even animals and plants seemingly lost their will to live by his influence alone; he killed everyone, not only without remorse, but gleefully, too; he took on 14 overpowered characters, 7 of them twice, by himself; he also became a god, zap-fried civilization and ruined the world.
Sephiroth's feats are indeed unimpressive by comparison.

To a large extent, most everyone would think the game was going to end with this fight. For anybody who did, did you assume that Neclord was an optional boss that you missed?
That just made me shudder with the thought of Luca with Neclord's ruin, but if he did, the whole plot wouldn't happen and he would just walk into the state on his own and kill everything.
lol I remember that one time I got so hardcore on leveling up the different teams I was going to use against him that I wiped all of his vital points in the first round with Flik´s team X_D

I really didn't find Luca anywhere near as hard as I had anticipated. My first two teams went down in a flash since they were stuffed with cannon fodder low-levels, but my main team wasn't even out of magic by the time I won. And then the duel afterwards was a joke... anything except Defend would have had me win in max two turns.
There's something that has to be said about a video game boss who receives punishment from three groups of highly specialised warriors, goes through a one on one duel with their leader, and takes on more arrows then the Persians fire against the Spartans in the movie 300.

Luca Blight weathered a ruthless onslaught--several, even--from an entire army of righteously-pissed rebels and troops from neighboring lands that have been victimized by Luca, an arrow storm the elves of Mirkwood would have been proud of, direct assaults from *three different strike forces*, a second arrow storm, and finally a duel with the enemy commander.
And what happens? EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED. He will go down in the annals of time in that world as the greatest monster to live, as planned.

for the first two teams, I trained them in the mountains near the banner village.
and for my final team,I just used Hero, Nanami, Siegfried, and Feather to beat the crap out of him.

Everyone seems to forget that Luca Blight had also received heavy punishment earlier in the day, before he went on the night raid, when your whole army was pounding on his lone unit. It was after that when he received a hail of arrows hitting him, also fell off his horse, then fought 18 people, received another hail of arrows, and then had a one on one duel with Riou. After losing he STILL had enough strength left to walk, and give a short speech about his awesomeness/evilness.

Suikoden II has the best characterization and storyline and emotion and soundtrack than any other game I've played. Come to think of it, it's the best game I've ever played.

Sephiroth is one of the weakest villians in history. Nothing he ever does makes sense and his motivations can only ever be debated because his only purpose is to screw with Cloud. At best, he's a psychotic punktard with an oedipus complex, at worst a complete pawn of Jenova.

You're compeltely wrong. His motivation was clear from the start: self-discovery and an aim to make the planet his own. He toyed with Cloud because Cloud was following him, not the other way around! Sephiroth was far from weak. Better than kefka, better than Sin, better than whatever the boss of FF9 was.

@Music1222 'Cept for the part where Kefka actually succeeded in his goal and was only defeated after he'd plunged the world into ruin and conquered it, and Kuja committed multiple genocides as well as crushing two kingdoms, leaving Alexandria and Treno as the only real powers left in the world at the end of the game as the other kingdoms are crippled.
Sephiroth... lost. Twice, and not once managed to fulfill his goal outside of messing with Cloud's head.

@Str8Murder Indeed, I've always considered Jenova and Hojo to be the true villains of ff7. Sephiroth was more a victim of consequence as a result of Hojo's and Jenova's actions.

I still remember the fight with Luca. How the hell could you possibly forget having to put three powerful teams together, who each have to take him on, only to also have to duel him (where he hits like a truck) after Shu set a sea of arrows on him?
Luca Blight still gets my vote for the greatest villain in rpg history. If nothing else, he will always be the most badass.

He killed thousands, he killed his own father without remorse, he took on 18 powerful characters by himself, recieved an unholy arrow storm and could fight on a one on one duel with the main character and died.
Other villains only kill a flower girl and are killed by 3 emo teenagers.

@LightningZerker Luca Blight wasn't just a villain the man was a fucking monster. I've played well over 100 video games and I think Luca Blight is the only person I've ever seen take that fucking much to go down. Had his own army betray him. Was ambushed by your army. Was shot with arrows. Attacked with three different groups. Then shot with more arrows. Then finally killed in a one on one battle. That's more then any villain I can ever think of.

@LightningZerker Kefka didn't limit himself to killing untold amounts of humans, even animals and plants seemingly lost their will to live by his influence alone; he killed everyone, not only without remorse, but gleefully, too; he took on 14 overpowered characters, 7 of them twice, by himself; he also became a god, zap-fried civilization and ruined the world.
Sephiroth's feats are indeed unimpressive by comparison.
Real villains: They love to do stuff that you'll love to hate them for doing.

@LightningZerker the only teenager in Final Fantasy 7 is Yuffie man, Cloud is 21, Tifa is 20, Barret is 35, Cid is 32 and Yuffie is 16 years old in the game so... the only teenager in the game is Yuffie, The ''angsty Teenagers'' in final fantasy started in FF8 :) Kefka and Revolver Ocelot FTW!

To a large extent, most everyone would think the game was going to end with this fight. For anybody who did, did you assume that Neclord was an optional boss that you missed?
That just made me shudder with the thought of Luca with Neclord's ruin, but if he did, the whole plot wouldn't happen and he would just walk into the state on his own and kill everything.

lol I remember that one time I got so hardcore on leveling up the different teams I was going to use against him that I wiped all of his vital points in the first round with Flik´s team X_D

I really didn't find Luca anywhere near as hard as I had anticipated. My first two teams went down in a flash since they were stuffed with cannon fodder low-levels, but my main team wasn't even out of magic by the time I won. And then the duel afterwards was a joke... anything except Defend would have had me win in max two turns.

Luca Blight = pure awesomeness. Imagine, he did all that to the City-State with just his pure might and sheer power. No epic power or whatsoever. A real baddass. A one-of-a-kind villain I must say.
