  • Why seven guitarists?

  • yhey never went away just got older

  • Great band. They are one of my favorite 60's bands. The best part even after all these years they can still improv a solo like that and stay in key with their old songs.

  • Last song? Do they know another one?

  • OMG, 2007 and they STILL suck?!

( bought the Incense and Peppermints album when it first came out. That was the only song worth half a shit on the entire album)

  • In a mystical, synchronistic sort of way the Strawberry Alarm Clock was an alarm clock of sorts heralding the "great awakening of consciousness" of the psychedelic era. There was a radical, cultural paradigm shift in 1967.

  • Great stuff from a talented band!!!

  • awesome...anyone that has been live can appreciate this....very nice

  • Fucking grand man! These guys can still do it!! The music easily fights through the quality of the sound system.....nowadays the quality of the performer IS the sound system.

  • Sounds remarkably like the original recording. One of my all time fave bits of music trivia is the guy that wrote cowrote this also cowrote Sweet Home Alabama (and yes, that looks like the same guitar on this he played during Skynyrd 87 reunion tour...)

  • These guys should take a page from the Johnny Carson playbook. That is,

quit while you're still on top and never show up in public again.

  • WOW. Too much guys. This song is in my mind, till the end of time, since I heard it in New York, June, 2011. nice one.

  • six guitars?

  • Hope the Bangles were watching this..This group inspired their sound!

  • These guys got more guitar players than the guitar army but they're still great.

  • Did these guys ever have paisly Ludwig drums?

  • Nice to see them still playing. Song is classic 60's

  • Takes me back~

  • These guys are still together??

  • Amazing how much they sound the same live and after all these years!!!!! And such an incredible song!!!! It's an iconic song of the 60's. Thanks!

  • Which one is Ed King?

  • @RedVynil Ed King is the guitar player with the solid black shirt on standing right in front of the keyboard player.

  • @emjee Groovy!! Thanks!!

  • @emjee - I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WHEN I READ UP ON THIS ;) ISN'T IT AMAZING.....

  • I remember seeing these guys back in the sixties in New York. They were booed off the stage. People threw bottles at them. They were terrible. They couldn't even play this song right.

  • Is that Steve Bartek on the far right?

  • At last I know the name of that song. It drives me crazy when I can't find songs I heard a long time ago!

  • These guys where /is great! Bring back HIPPIES!

  • @cengeb Thankfully, there are still some genuine hippies around. Not all of them cut their hair and gave away America back in the late 1970s and all through the 1980s. This band is still great! Love (with Arthur Lee) was (and still is) fantastic. The Seeds were (and remain) a great band from the mid-Sixties.

  • This is actually really AWESOME

  • iowa61 well said.

  • Good band , poor quality recoding.

  • Great song ....but this does not sound good, mainly down to the poor recording equipment

  • LSD

  • Ed King was the founding lead guitarist for this signature sound of the 1960's. Ed was also very much a part of the sound that made Lynard Skynard so popular as well.

  • They needed 8 people to sound that bad

  • I saw the Doors at the Cheetah in Venice in 1967 and the guitarist for the SAC offered me $5 for my seat which was right in front of the stage. My response? "No way!"

  • @jonsilence good!!!, I would pay any thing to see The Doors at Cheetah in 1967!!

  • actually, i don't think it was the audio

actually, i don't think it was the audio. the audio still had the way out 60's sound. the video was most difficult to watch because of improper filming.

  • Boy oh boy, wish they had better recording equipment back then. Still great stuff though.. You can almost hear the needle hitting the vinyl. Oh what a sound ,that was. Glad I saved all my old LP's. They are somewhat scratchy. I call it WELL USED!!!

  • The day Medford, the vocalist, left this band, they sucked. And Medford never played live with them. Ever. Unless there's been a studio reunion. Don't tell me about "Ed King". Trash. Marc on keyboards was always super though.

  • 9 NINE guys? 20 drums? Trim it all down and try again. Vocal sounded ok though.

  • dont complain about the sound,,it was recorfded with a camcorder,,not a mixing board....great band

  • an-all time psych-pop classic! a very pretty song...and from what I can make out, this sounds like a pretty good rendition.

  • was Ed King with them here i cnt tell

  • @mitch222ful

Yes, he's on the left in the black turtleneck, he takes the first solo.

  • @stingray1964 thanks

  • @mitch222ful Sure thing!!

  • @stingray1964

if this is 2007, ed king would have been in a wheelchair.

  • @edslides really....what happened to him..?

  • @stingray1964

ya know, i might be wrong, but i saw skynyrd with the allman bros at a blues festival in dallas about 2000, and he came out in a wheelchair. something i think i remember being said about a spinal paralysis. ronnies hat was on the mic stand. and i asked my brother if he remembered. he said he thought it was ronnies dad, soooooo......

    my bad.

  • @edslides Hmm...that makes sense. HA, I actually got my info from a guy who commented on this vid months back who "very confidently" said that was Ed on the left in the Black Turtleneck. Let's hope so for his sake after the wheelchair story.

    thx for the update....

  • An all time favorite song!

  • I used to listen to them rehearse this song in a upstairs apartment on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.

  • @laughingboy0068 and what have you done in your life, dumb ass?

  • @driski90 What haven't I done? You sound angry, so I assume you yourself are old, fat and irrelevant. Enjoy this dated pablum, grampy!

  • @laughingboy0068 LOL. I have no come-back. And yes, I am a Grampy.

  • You can download their songs if you don't like this.

  • Comment removed

  • Lighten up people!!! If you can get past the horrible acoustics and terrible recording, these guys sound great, musically. They just need a proper venue.

  • @iowa61 That's the fault of whoever took this unauthorized video. I can still hear the singer's inimitable voice, regardless of the cheap approach taken by who ever recorded this. Excellent stuff!

  • @stratoleft Agreed!

  • @iowa61 I fully agree. As the ultimate 60's child, it's just a treat to see all these great one-hit wonder bands...still churning out the music . I mean where else will we ever find another "Strawberry Alarm Clock"!?!?

  • @3Rubee What's strange is they had a number of albums out! The ONLY reason they, or ANY band that didn't just records a single and then called it quits) was because radio was to scared to play any of their other stuff!! There's a number of other songs they did that were just as good as this one, if not better!! Had we ever been given the chance to listen to them, they would've been hits, too!

  • @iowa61 I have to say, it is bad camera quality...

  • Nothing to lose, look at what i done,

    WAWAWA:):) Old School, I remember

    Incence and peppermint,like them both

    Smile & Peace

  • if this is good my cat is awesom

  • It is really a classic song better done years ago.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Their best song an done of my favorite tunes of all time!

  • I always enjoyed the song ever since it came out.

  • Drums are very complicated nowadays.. :)

  • Wish I was there. Amazing that the band sound so good after 40 yrs. Nice to see they stayed faithful to the original recording. Nice depth of sound with all the guitars too. People in the USA & Europe are fortunate to see these old bands still in action - Downunder we don't !

    Thanks for posting.

  • @rod280459 I bet there are no more than two original members.

  • wtf omg there stoned

  • Bubblegum...sure...but still brings me back to a more better time in my life!

  • Bubblegum??

  • Yea, bubblegum was "pop" aimed at teeny boppers

  • @bg147 Bubblegum was The Ohio Express, 1910 Fruitgum Company, Davy Jones, The Royal Guardsmen, The Banana Splits, etc.. This is psych!!

  • Looks like Howie in the blue shirt on the right.

Just jammed with him last night.

Jeez ..... Howie, got enough geetar players on stage??? LOL

  • Lol, when I was a teen I thought they were saying "incest and necromance"....I was like "shit these guys are twisted!" but then I wised up and figured it out...this rocks!!

  • If you listen to the lyrics to "Hummin' Happy" off the same album, it doesn't seem so far off. But even this lyric is rather cynical and postmodern for 1968. I always thought Nirvana should have covered it .

Some conspiracy theorist should take up the SAC acronym, "coincidentally" also Strategic Air Command, and the fact that on the original cover, they look like a bunch of CIA agents dressed in hippie gear, and UNHAPPY about it.

  • No Ed King. It's not the same. It don't count.

  • Ed is on the left....black short sleeve shirt.

  • @tulsapoolplyr88

    You're right. Thanks.

  • personalmente encuentro que están muy bien, pero claro, es el audio de una cámara de cien euros o un poco mas, "in situ" debe haber sonado como los dioses, no te quepa duda amigo; thanks for the post my friend

  • no compareis con sus buenos años...

una pena que todo cambie tanto

  • I saw them in L.A. at the Sky Saxon Memorial last Friday. They still rock!!

  • Ed King wrote this song and never got paid for it...no royalties !!! You might know Ed King better as the guy who was the original lead guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd and wrote "Sweet Home Alabama"

  • actually the keyboard player wrote it, Mark Weitz, and everyone in the band had some input on it, King wrote very little of it, the lyric writers who werent in the band, but who knew the producer, got all the credit and one of them didnt even write any of the lyrics. its sad.

  • wheres the hot blonde hippy chick dancing in the middle of the stage?!!

  • Sorry, I was sick that day. ;)

  • I always dug clocks sound this one was the best......

  • I found a website that tells you what song was number one on the day you were born. This one was mine. Never heard of them so did a search. . . now I've heard them ... nice but not my thing really.

(Cant remember the name of the birth day website)

  • Good grief!!! I had a huge crush on George, back at Taft High school. He had these blue eyes that just killed me!!!

  • I didn't know that this band was still together. I figured they broke up. I first heard of them when I got a CD with 'remastered' sixties music on it.

  • Like you .

  • No chief, more like your 2 dads

  • ED KING

  • Damn Right. ED KING

  • Jose was my fathers name and he was nothing like this idiot who seems to have a VERY limited vocabulary. You can't judge by names or looks....watch that You Tube video of that 49 yr old woman in London that can sing like the dickens.

  • They weren't shot down in Vietnam, we were there but they weren't, thank God ( Navy River Division 594). I grew up with Lee Freeman and knew the family. Hey Lee, remember Burbank? Remember the good times. BTW Lee, I had your cassette while I was in the Navy. It was my Fav. Mom still has your LP that your Mom gave her.

  • Thanks for your service!

  • i may be wrong but i think these guys were shot down in nam pretty darn sure

  • The more ya think things change, the more they stay the same. Great talent and quality will NEVER be replaced by packaging and hype. These guys kick ass. Saw them with Sam The Sham & The Pharoahs, ? & The Mysterians...what a major moment.

  • did we need this much info?

    check out Lobelia Sound concrete

  • lol....I lost my virginity when I first heard this.

My female neighbour was 27 and I was a raw 14 year old male. We smoked a joint and she got pissed. What a weekend it was.

  • your such a faget shut up you fucking stupid cocking sucking bitch faget pussy cocksucker faget little cock sucking bitch

  • To JoseSkates619

You poor misguided bastard. It sounds like you've got more hangups than a fuck'n art gallery

  • What else would you expect? His name is Jose'.

  • What a lucky boy.That's what I needed at 14.

  • Don't know about lucky... 74sodapop, LUCKY I didn't catch a disease. She was very, very attractive but was renowned for her sexual activity and with many others. Incidentally, I share your views about John Denver.

  • It's great knowing that Ed became part of "Lynyrd Skynyrd" and wrote "Sweet Home Alabama".

What a great slice of music history!

  • when are they touring trough europe, or holland?

I will see them I love 60's beat or garage of the sixties, like this.

    Great song.

  • great song

  • i love it those were the days , thanks

  • how the hell did this conversation get to rap and clubbin'? this is 60's.

  • dang this music is good...to jus listen to cuz its sooo different and i like all music but this has a special sound to it that i realy like

  • if all of you pimples hate hippies why the heck are you even looking at this?instead go listen to the crap you listen to on a daily basis.go sit down with a dictionary and educate yourself!

  • "All you pimples"...LOLLLL!!! Aw, you can't expect people who grew up on American Idol and B. Spears to know what real music is...Let's just be glad WE do, darlin'!

  • i heard they where selling depends at the door.

  • And you're a punk kid with a big mouth!! WHY are you looking in this catagory anyway???? Shouldn't you be viewing RAP CRAP with all the OTHER ZIT FACED TEENY BOPPERS out there with NO KNOWLEDGE or APPRECIATION of REAL MUSIC??

  • CJurasin i think your mad cause you shit your free depends diaper before the show was over. LOL hippy

  • No, only because you just proved AGAIN what the phrase "ignorance is bliss" really means.

  • shut up and respect my athoritie. stoopid hippy

  • Ya, KID........THAT'LL BE THE DAY!!! Ha ha.....and learn how to spell. You 5th graders are all the same.

  • you must be crabby from the diaper rash. LOL. dumb ass hippy.

NO INSULT MEANT :) Peace Out

  • Excuse me, I'm a British teenager and I have to disagree with you entirely... if only what you said was true though..

  • look friend what are you talking about? you must indulge yourself in all types of music to really apreciate it. just because you may not like it does not mean it isnt real music. music is a form of expression and just beacause it may not be you taste does not mean its not real music. keep an open mind and just love music.

    peace and love

    -cole

  • cole: I enjoy ALL kinds of music, and from many countries too. I've been in High School and College Band, Orchestra, and a couple of rock bands over the years.....I know what music is and isn't. Music has rhythm and MELODY. Just try humming a Rap-Crap "song" some time... And my opinion has NOTHING to do with "color" either (as some people like to infer). Before the "gofather of Soul" (James Brown) died he was asked what he thought about Rap.....his response was "That Aint Music!".

  • i guess ill have to eat my own words and agree with you i guess

  • theres all kinds of music for all kinds of moments, I like listening to some psychedelic rock while im on my room alone and I like listening to some techno or hiphop when Im on a club all drunk

  • Leo: Ya, you're right, I'd probably have to be "all drunk" to appreciate "hippity-hop" too.....but I could NEVER get drunk enough to enjoy RapCrap! ;-)

  • ya i know theres some shitty ass rap I dont like but theres old school hiphop like snoop dogg, dr dre and ice cube, old school is the only good one to en joy

  • This was the first 'psychadelic' song I remember. 'Journey to the center of the mind' was around the same time and was also in that category.

  • yeah the camera action isn't that good. Hey iknow what should happen, how about taking some video class at your local community college. It would be beneficial to everyone

  • WTF-Where is Ed King? I hate the sissy little camera shit--dont post this crap until you know what the fuck you are doing--This Sucks!

  • hahahaha

  • It's not the camera, just a bad flash back (hehe)!

  • Great Stuff from the 1960's! Where this came from, some High School gym? Takes nothing away from a great group and a Really Great Song! If you kind of like this, look up 'The Small Faces' and their contemporary tune

    "Itchycoo Park". ........peace, F.T.C.

  • too fast... slow it down, jeez. what are you in, a race?

  • WHRO should bring all the rockers together on stage. Just like they did with the 50's

  • What a shambles. Is this a contest to see how many guitar players can fit on one stage? More cowbell!!

  • Bad ass guitar solo, but the origanial was way better.

  • They lost the spirit of the 60's. Who are these people ?

  • yeahh their spirit is deffinetly lost

  • You're right on man. Everyone is blind to what we can see. But we must win out. It for everyones good.

  • I agree. Needs more cowbell!!

  • guitarist was using a Vox Fuzz box that contained a nine volt battery. The first real acid rock song.

  • I love that song @-@

  • Needs more cowbell. Is that Ed King?

  • i gotta have more cowbell

  • Coulda used more cowbell

  • what the fuck? i think the cowbell levels are fine

  • I got a fever, and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

Look up "more cowbell" on youtube and you will understand.

  • great concert !!! sound alittle over done , to much echo in building but still good as orginal

  • I know Gregg Mumford sang this song in the original recording, but who was doing the singing in this performance????

  • it was probably like a high school talent show thing or something

  • The drummer. I think he is Paul marshall

  • Sounds like a couple of the guys (many arent even original members)arent sure of the arrangement around the guitar solo= TRAIN WRECK . Hope the audience didnt pay much to see this!

  • Wrong, they are all original,,, there is even both drummers (the band had a total of two drummers over their 4 albums) on stage.

  • wrong, they are all origenal, they even are going so far as to include both drummers, in this video "Gene Gunnals" is just playing a simple percussion set. though I am to understand that they switch off.

  • haha, your band sucks!

  • They must need the money...

  • Does anyone know where the ORIGINAL SINGER of this song (who was not even a member of the band, but a studio musician) is today? Would have been cool to hear him join the band in this clip!

  • the original singer on the record was Ed King(who later joined Lynyrd Skynyrd, lead guitarist on Sweet Home Alabama), he was not a member of SAC, he was a friend who was in the studio, and they got him to sing a take, and that was the one that was used.

At least that's the story i've heard in the rock circles.

  • The original singer was Gregg Mumford, a 16 year old who was at the studio but not part of the band. The song was a corporate venture and the words were written by a producer and Greg could sing them when they were awkward for the band members and musical composer.

  • for sure man 60s music is way better than all this new shit people are playin.
