Church? It's not much (to those who don't believe), the purpose is to strengthen yourself spiritually. It's just a part of the possibilities: it doesn't seem to help unless you are open to it. The only way to really know if their is a God, is to ask with a open heart. Kneel down, and ask sincerely being open to either way. God is the Father, if he exist and really does care, would he not answer your question? It's not hard, just go somewhere quite where you can just focus on your question.
