@ad9000 in some states volunteer firefighters are only allowed to run green lights, in my stares we are only allowed to run blue, so now if I'm running blues yeah I'm using them to get to work, but because there's a damn emergency and some one needs my help, and their in trouble. If you were in trouble wouldn't you want people to get out of the way for you?

As I understand, in Scotland they use green lightbars on physicians' vehicles used for doing house calls.

@douro20 Green light's can be used all over the UK, but only by doctors attending a medical emergency. Then they still aren't exempt from traffic law (speed etc) and other vehicles don't have to let them pass.

Secondly I am skeptical about your code 3 driving. Thirdly I believe you would abuse this more than you would like to admit. @scamp50 your right blue and red get peoples attention more but green is bright due to the green lights wavelength so in turn green would be seen further away and i guess at night time a flashing green light is not something people see every day so it would draw there attention to it.

If you must have this spaceship to respond to calls with the best thing to do is not ABUSE the lights. Dont speed. at all. dont roll stop signs. These lights give you no privilege and people are NOT required to yield or pull over for them. They are courtesy lights only. You arent a fly car. Dont act like one.

Any judge or justice with any lick of common sense would strike down this officer's ticket and issue a sharp reprimand to the officer for writing tickets for any volunteer's vehicle legally on the way to a call. It's not the officer's place to decide what he thinks of the lights on a car. I'd also assume the judge would issue an injunction against anymore tickets being issued like your proposal.

My point is that as per the NYS VTL, GREEN LIGHTS ARE COURTESY LIGHTS. THEY GIVE YOU NO PRIVELGE OVER OTHER VEHICLES. YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO VIOLATE ANY SECTIONS OF THE VTL. do you really need all that? the vollies in my department and most others on Long Island just use a single strobe or beacon on the roof or dashboard, and its a lot more populous here than where you are. Is everything you have necessary?

New York volunteer firefighters are legally only allowed to have one dash light, but it's usually not enforced by local police

I got a question for you. Remember the child who died in Albany because the Mohawk ambulance took so long to get there, almost 25 minutes? At one point the Albany police dispatcher suggested that the firefighter/EMTs just forget the ambulance and take the kid themselves to the ER. If you'd been visiting the area would you have stepped in with your POV and used your green lights to take the kid to the hospital?

I'm now a member of the Lake Desolation Volunteer Fire Company over on Lake Desolation between the towns of Greenfield Center and Providence. It seems to be just a small auxiliary force, because the main fire department is Middle Grove Fire Department. But I like what I am doing. Question is, think an amber roof light would do just as well as a green or blue courtesy light?

Thats what I HATE, they have tooo many different light meanings for different states, like you said green in your state is security, we use blue in PA for vol's, I think N.C. is red lights, Ohio is red/sirens, out West it's some other color. They need to have all the states be the same color.....that I don't think will ever happen.

yep, any thing that will be equal to 360 degrees. Someone in my department has one LED dash light facing the front, has an LED window light on the right and left back passenger windows, and has 2 out the rear of the truck.
