I have never seen so much bitching about James' performance. Shut the fuck up already. James was not able to sing well again until about 2006. After they recorded Octavarium, he really strengthened his vocals. I have been pleased ever since. I think he sounds really good now, and he rocks the older songs really hard! Go find the newest performance of Caught In a Web :) You'll hear him nailing ALL those notes just like on record.

dream theater would be my favorite band of all time if there were no vocals. I could never get into the "opera" singers of "power metal" or "prog" or whatever you genre geeks label it lol. Great musicians, just spare me the vocals.

@paisteuser06 Check out the band "Liquid Tension Experiment". They are pretty much an instrumental version of Dream Theater (same members except for the bassist and there's no singer).

LaBrie is the weakest element in the Dream Theater Chain. He can't sing very well at Live Concerts. So I prefer the original recording. With Charly. ;-)

it was a flaw in the production that made it sound weird. the drums and bass were weird. i prefered the original vocalist myself. he didn't mess with hard rock rocals unnecessarily

Nice to hear this song up to date. James always gets a grilling for his vocal style. Personally I think he does a great job. It cant be easy trying to sing dominici's style as alot of the material he sang was out of his vocal range.
