It's a very recent, extremely stripped down recording, and I think that if you blend out the sobbing that sets in about halfway into the song because she was getting emotional singing it (you might find that disturbing, idk), her voice sounds better and a lot more mature than here.

This really is Ke$ha. You should listen to some of her unreleased demos for more of this sort of vocals from her to get an impression, if you want to. I recommend "Goodbye" and "While You Were Sleeping" (slow ballads) and "Secret Weapon" (fast-paced pop rock).
The chorus of "Heart's On Fire" is great too, and I personally love the whole song a lot. More than "Secret Weapon" for instance, but that one is a better choice for vocals I think.

She started of as a hip hop/R&B artist until she was able to fight to sing her own material. Now everyone loves her.

Unless it comes in a phony picturesque package, record companies flock to the useless sellouts willing to pretend they have talent, while those that do are left unsigned, unpaid, and forced to move on to another career. Alas, the rest of us are ultimately stuck with this.

She doesn't write her own music. She has professional writers write for her. Once you sign you are a product that must be marketed the way the label sees fit. Sometimes the smart thing to do is to just go with it in the beginning to get the money needed in order to break away and reinvent yourself. That's what Pink did. She started of as a hip hop/R&B artist until she was able to fight to sing her own material. Now everyone loves her.

she actually did begin as a bluegrass singer but never made it anywhere, because, let's be honest, bluegrass musicians aren't appreciated anymore...so that's when she switched to pop

The same thing happened to Britany Spears. Both of them had amazing voices as kids and their producers told them to sound different. Keshas producers wanted her to sound like a drunk whore and Britany Spears' producers told her to sing like a child. Both of them are talented but they never show it

i hate how people are always talking shit about celebs, they all have talent, that's how she got this far. to do auto-tune you actually have to sing a certain way, you cant just sing good, it wont work. so to get her effect she was to down grade her voice. but she really does have a good voice along with others that people think are bad

@decastrofilms Talent is not a necessity in Hollywood, although it should be. The only things that matter there are looks and willingness to roll over on command. All the music industry cares about is making money, not making good, quality music. Many great artists have been shunned and didn't make it big, because they had an important message to convey.
