The guy playin Freddie in this new piece of tripe is that actor from the Watchmen film, he is short in real life lol, but he plays a very dark role in Rorschach so thats kinda y execs used him in this film. I think they tried to go for a more intelligent kinda film, that also tried very hard to b gory, violent, like the original but at same time it just doesnt hav the charm of the original. Blame it on the kids of today, y Hollywood keep remaking everything, and wrecking the classics.

I saw the movie recently. I like the makeup, the effects, the photography and the music, but the script kinda sucked, also the way this guy played Freddy. Especially his voice, it sounded like he was choking on a potato. The rest was fine, I guess that if they weren't actually REMAKING a movie I would have loved it, I mean, as a completely new movie bearing no relation to Nightmare on Elm Street.

Hollywood sucks. Look at the shit that wins Oscars nowadays. Most of them are remakes of older movies.

Sucks how this movie didn't have enough of a psychotic fanbase to stop the remake. Hollywood tried to remake the controversial movie: "Oldboy" about 3 years ago but failed miserably when psychotic fans kept writing death threats to Steven Spielberg. And a lot of people blamed the Virigina Tech Massacre on the movie, seeing how the killer apparently watched the movie 3 times a day for a year.

The characters had nothing to them. While watching a horror movie based around high school kids you should really be thinking which character/s you don't want to see get knifed! But with this abomination I wanted Freddy to just kill everyone and then off himself, would made the whole movie far more enjoyable. When you talked about the actor's ages...Just so you know, all the "teens" in the original movie were in their early twenties. Heather Langenkamp was twenty at the time (hence the line when Nancy says, "I look like I'm 20 years old...".

But I guess the point is, if you're going to cast adults as teenagers -- make sure they look young enough, despite their age.

Jackie Earle Haley, the actor who played Freddy, also played Rorschach in the movie Watchmen, they both had raspy voices and the whole time i watched it, it felt like i was watching a scary verson of Watchmen. It didnt have a Freddy feel to it. So yes, your right about Robert England being the best Freddy.

@pinkrudy The one at 3:10 isn't even a full figure. It is just half the body of Freddy. I got it at a Halloween store last year, and it is meant to hang on a porch or something and blow in the wind. Notice the string on the head. The one at 0:21 is one I bought when I was a kid. It came in a box with a plain doll and clothes. The doll without the Freddy costume can be seen at 3:15
